Wonder, dragons, fae, fantasy, and romance, these are the things Melody Rose loves to write about. If these are the things you love, please think about following me on Amazon or on Facebook.
This book is really good, however, there are a couple of things I have issues with. I first want to say that I absolutely loved the storyline. It was original and fun. I was definitely pulled in from the beginning.
The biggest issue I have with the book is that there are too many errors. I get that the author and whomever she had to edit her books are human and they make mistakes, but this goes beyond that. There were enough errors (missing words, wrong words used, and just overall confusing sentences) that it made it difficult to keep going at times.
Also, the ending. Personally, it felt like it just ended without really resolving the issues that were going on in the climax of the book. There is an epilogue that tells you what happened, but I wanted to see it. I wanted to see how the General reacted and not hear just one comment. I wanted to see if there was any recourse against the General for his behavior towards her in the first place. I wanted to see how the students felt knowing who was behind everything. I wanted to see how Ansel handled what happened between them. I wanted all of that and so much more and I just didn't get it.
This is a great story! It’s well written and full of gods and goddesses and their mythology. With an exciting storyline and fantastic characters once you start this you will not be able to put it down!
I don't even know why I finished this... the amount of errors in this book was something that was so hard to overlook. I don't even think anything of significance happened within the first 500 pages of this book. I kept reading to see if it would get better, but the whole thing felt so juvenile when the FMC is supposed to be in her 20s.
Also love triangle where? The characters in this book had the chemistry of a wet blanket.
From a very young sage, Cheyenne has known she was different. She was drawn to blacksmithing and worked at a museum as a historical blacksmith. Two strangers ask her to design something special and as she successfully completes their challenge, she finds that she is the daughter of the god Hephaestus and her human mother. As a demigod, she enrolls in Olympic Academy. But when she is tasked to make “The Ultimate Weapon” told of in the prophecy, made from the fire of the gods – especially since her father has been missing for 20 years and can’t make it for them -- she is suspicious about who she can trust now. Is she in danger? Can she figure out who the traitor or traitors may be to protect against them?
This was an exciting book with lots of characters to meet. The story line was good, especially because gods and goddesses of myth have always been fascinating. Grab your copy and see where the prophecy is pointing and who will gain the victory!
Cheyenne has always know she was different. The fire never had burned her and she loves blacksmithing. She is working at a at museum working as a historical blacksmith. One day a guy comes in asking her to commission anything she wants, but it has to have quality. She decides to take him up on it, she meets with him. The guy and his partner are waiting for her. They inform her that she is a demigod, that she gets her gift from her father. They tell her about the academy where she learn her gifts and more about her father. Cheyenne decides to go to the academy, there is so much that happens to her. She will make friends with some of the students, others are bent on give her a hard time. Cheyenne decides that she will keep Ansel secret. When a mission that Ansel asks her to go on, due to his problem turns into a nightmare. She finds she has a bigger gift than what she knew. Cheyenne will have a fight on her hands against some of higher officials, trying to figure out her powers, fighting for her freedom and her life against a traitor.
This book slowly builds up to the climax at the end. You will slowly be introduced to the character, the academy, and many other things. Once this book gets moving, you will find that you can't put it down. Looking forward to see where the character goes next with her powers, getting answers about her father and her attraction to Ansel.

Both the writing and the plot were good. I mean, there was a lot of misspelling and maybe a few grammatical errors, but that aside, it was good. I can't quite put my finger on it, but something was missing.
I think I came in with higher expectations. The plot in itself was alright, but I think it could've been better. The characters needed more depth too. I felt no connection to the protag other than her being new to the academy. I didn't understand why she liked Ansel, since his only admirable qualities were his good looks and how his name rhymes with Hansel, the biscuits.
And maybe it would've been nice if the author intended for the romance to be a minor thing, not a major focus of the plot, but that wasn't the case. The author put Ansel and the protag together, and I expected some character development on both parts.
I think, overall, it just felt rlly formulaic. I still loved how the protag was a blacksmith tho. And I'm pretty sure we all predicted the twist at the end, but that's not entirely a bad thing. I can definitely see this author improving over time and I'm sure, someday in the near future, I'll pick up one of her more recent creations and I'll love it.
So if Melody Rose got a better line editor, improved her characters and their arcs, and maybe possibly added a few more twists to the story since the middle kind of sagged, her books would turn out better. I'm not one to judge tho since I've only read this one book of hers.

AN ABSOLUTELY ASTONISHING TREAT!!! Fabulous! Melody took one profoundly challenging approach, bringing the heat and magic with this tough as nails jaw dropping bombshell. Satisfaction rocks this jewel, bringing it home with such intensity and precision, riding roughshod and delivering one block busting thrill, taking you places you haven't even dreamed of. Laying this baby out with all the wonder, ingenuity, imagination, expertise and intellect launching this piece of perfection to life spectacularly. The dynamics and presentation in layer upon layer that you peel back with each page your drawn into this web so deep until everything else ceases to exist. Anarchy, escapades and havoc run amuck, kicking this gem into a tempest, blasting it into a hissy with a mind blowing culmination. A raging tempest chocked full of baffling circumstances and unnerving events, blasts this baby into play front and center. The characters are genuine and original with depth and qualities that transform into amazing personalities. The scenes are so vividly detailed it gives the illusion you were right there in the middle of ground zero with them. Remarkable job Melody, thanks for sharing this bad boy with us.
Cheyenne is a 22-year-old woman whose passion was blacksmithing. She was happiest when she was at the forge creating. She did have one little “trick” that helped with her metalwork; she was able to handle hot things, even white-hot metal from the forge, without getting burned. She worked at a western recreation museum and worked as the blacksmith. Part of her contract was that she could use the forge when the museum was closed. One day, a man came in and offered her a commission. Turns out that he was a recruiter for the Olympian Army Corps. Turns out Cheyenne is a Demi god..her father was Hephaestus, god of the forge. Who knew that the Greek gods were real?
Though this book appears to be long, it reads very quickly. The story pulls you along. The author has done a great job at world building and consistency within that world. The characters are fleshed out with their stories rather than exposition...I.e. shown within the story rather than just told. Waiting with baited breath for the next one.

Greek mythology stories are always interesting to me, so when I found this book, I was ecstatic! Having a main character be a descendent that isn’t from one of the big three gods made me want to read it even more.
The YES: The plot of the story was enjoyable. I really liked the storyline and the events that took place throughout the story. A few cringey moments were apparent, but I felt that it flowed pretty well.
The NO: The spelling and grammar errors were atrocious. Words were missing within sentences as well. It hurt to read some of the story because I had to go back and reread the sentences correctly. Also, the inconsistencies were a pain. There were some parts to the story that didn’t continue throughout the story. Plot holes are annoying and that’s what frustrated me throughout the read.
Overall, the book was so-so. The only reason I gave it 3 stars is because of the storyline. It would’ve been much lower if the story wasn’t interesting.
Cheyenne a blacksmith with a strange power and talent that she doesn't know anything about oh sure the fire things not new but the other stuff well her father a God Hephestus whom she never meet has left her with allot of questions and very little answers. But maybe the Academy of the Olympians will help her get those answers but not all Demigods are created equal at the Academy but at least Cheyenne has made some friends and promised to keep others secrets. There is alot of strang stuff going on not to mention she has a crush on her recruiter Ansel but that's not gonna happen anytime soon theres all kinds of rules and if she cant empress the teachers she may be out for good. But when she is betrayed by someone she thought she could trust and others are put in danger she has know choice but to embrace who she is.

A daughter of a God, really? From the time she was old enough to hold a hammer in her hand and pound metal into beautiful metal pieces, Cheyenne has had an affinity for blacksmithing. When two people come to her job at the museum nd give her a challenge she accepts and when she completes the challenge she learns she is the daughter of a god and her human mother, and they want her to enroll in Olympic Academy. There she can hone her skills and help the Olympians. Immediately she makes friends but seems to have a target on her back from one of the students and the General. When she is tasked to make the Ultimate Weapon, she learns who her real fiends are, and who will betray not only her but the Academy. WOW!!! Is the one thing that seems to go through my head as I have just finished this book. I will not bore you with the narrative of what this book is about, you have already read that. What I am going to tell you is what I thought of it.
The world that was created for this story was just supreme and handled in unique and imagitive way. The main character even though she is in her twenties seems to act younger in some ways truly grows throughput the story. All the charactes are full of life and vibrancy. Each have changes in their own way.
As for the story arc, it is handled in my most favorite way which is through action. Everything is first person and there is no passive story telling. I totally felt a part of the story and was pulled right in, so much so hours would go by without my noticing.
I fully recommend this book and hope you enjoy it as much as I did.
So, funny story, it turns out that Greek gods are real. And my deadbeat dad? He’s one of them. Now, I’m at the demigod academy, and they keep going on about me being the chosen one, which would be great if my classes weren’t trying to kill me. On the plus side, have you seen the guys? Cause those statues that they carved a billion years ago have nothing on their chiseled abs.
This is a brilliant read. Wonderful well written plot and story line that had me engaged from the start. Love the well fleshed out characters and found them believeable. Great suspense and action with wonderful world building that adds so much to the story. Can't wait to read more of these. Recommend reading.

Wow! This book is really good. I just loved the characters in the story. Cheyenna Paulos is a strong, brave, smart and a badass women. She has grown up being able to touch things that are hot and she is drawn to the fire and metal. She doesn’t know why until she meets sexy as hell Ansel Ballas. She learns who her father is and that she is demigod. Someone is trying to get rid of her. She must save the man she has a crush on before it’s to late and she has to get out the situation that she is in also. Will Cheyenna be able to save the man she likes or will it be to late? Will she be able to show him how she feels? Will she get out of trouble?
I look forward to reading the second book of this series.
Cheyenne hates her job at the active museum - but it's the only way she can get to use a smithy and endulge her love of creating items out of steel. When she finds out that she can join the demigod academy, she is shocked. Does that mean the the Gods really did exist? She is a demi god and that explains why heat doesnt seem to affect her? She needs to find out more about her father. And sge wants to find out more about the gorgeous men who are sharing her classes! But not everyone will welcome her - how will her time there turn out? Will she get back to see her mother for the summer? Loved it!

The book has A LOT of Mythology in it. I love it when an author really does their research. That being said, it is a really good thing that I like Mythology. For the readers like myself, it was a good book. For those who do not like Mythology, I don't think this book is your cup of tea. Part of the charm is to challenge your knowledge against what the book names. The other part of the charm, is that for the majority of the book, I had no clue who the antagonist really was. It is nice to be surprised. You read so many books, you know how everything will end before the end of the second chapter lol. That is not the case with this book.
Spell check and autocorrect do not equal a proofreader. Over 30 spelling or mechanical errors that would have been an easy enough fix if anyone had bothered to go through it and payed attention to the context of the sentences. Lots of incorrect pronouns (Esme was referred to as “him” twice), and lots of spellcheck mistakes where the word should have been “here”, but was corrected to “her”, or the word “blasé” was corrected to the name “Blaise”. It’s just really sloppy. Story wise, it holds promise. I’ll read the second book to see how it develops.
Love the direction this is going! “Forged in Fire” is a modern tale of mythological Greek Gods and demi-gods. This is an unexpectedly good read with interesting characters that I want to know more about. The main character, Cheyenne, a demi-god raised as a human, makes the perfect heroine, strong of character and mentally capable of the tasks ahead. The supporting characters add dimension to this tale. A great storyline with interesting characters makes an exciting tale. I received a free copy of this book. This review was posted voluntarily
I think fans of mythology will love this series to which this book made a good start. I enjoyed this story which introduced us to Cheyenne, who always thought she was a bit different from other people, impervious to fire for one thing. She was a strong heroine and the supporting characters in the book were also interesting and well defined. The editing could have been a bit better but as I read an ARC maybe the published version will have been improved upon. I look forward to reading more in this series.
This book’s core storyline is really interesting, but there were a few errors I couldn’t overlook. Lots of misspellings and some issues with details. For example in one scene it says that Cheyanne and Violet live on the first floor and in a later scene it says they live on the fourth floor. Just little issues like that, but overall this book really astounded me with the originality of the idea and the level of depth with each character. Can’t wait to read the next books!
I overall liked the story. I could tell the author put a lot of time into researching for this book with the details on blacksmitninng and Greek mythology. I would have loved this when I was younger but now it’s not so much my speed. Very much giving Percy Jackson though so it was kind of a nostalgic read. Loved the plot and stories although I did notice that there were inconsistent minor details. It felt predictable and also seemed that there were some plot holes but can’t say for sure without reading the rest of the series. Good simple fun read. The ending was also underwhelming.
Forged in Fire by Melody Rose is an amazing story that I have read. This is book number one in this amazing start to a brand new series that I have fallen in love with and can not wait to get books two. I highly recommend this story to everyone who lvoes reading about fantasy and paranormal romances in their stories.

I really wanted this to be amazing. I love it when mythology is incorporated into UF or PNR, but this just didn’t hit the right notes for me. I didn’t like Ansel or Esme, the General was an absolute bully, and the only thing I did enjoy about the whole book was Cheyenne’s blacksmithing and those dogs... oh, and Ruby as well.
The story is pretty good, there were annoying errors though. Edit errors, continuity, i.e. being on first floor in dorm on first day, then later having her on 4th floor. Next brown roots when in beginning said she had white blonde hair. Eyebrows 1st ruby then let chapters its her... the fire out of the blue shes blamed for it? When, how, it's not explained.
The story is unique and original, however it becomes hard to read with all of the editing errors.
It annoyed me that Cheyanne was the specialist of the special snowflakes. Everything she did was so amazing , as an untrained first year SHE saved not only the 2nd year group but also Ansel a professional soldier. It was a bit much.
I enjoyed the first book but did not finish the second. The editing went from bad to worse with book two and somehow Cheyenne became even more special.
I hate Ansel as a love interest. He is so boring and bland. He is interested in another girl that doesn't feel the same and it terns out she's the bad guy, so he has bad taste. The FMC has a crush on him and not one that I think should develop to more. He is an officer and she's just a student and being together is a big no no there, and I don't think that any guy is worth her powers and memories.
