A brand-new side novel to the number one bestselling Western novel from Randall Dale! This is the fourth book in the “Branson Hawk: United States Marshal Western Series.”
This is the story of two men, one born a slave and the other into lavish idleness. Gunther matures in the North where slavery has nothing to do with him until a reversal of fortune sends him to the frontier where he comes face-to-face with the reality of human bondage. Curley grows to adulthood as a slave in the Deep South with only one desire… Freedom! No sacrifice is too great, no burden is too heavy and no punishment is too severe to keep him from trying for the North. His constant thought—freedom at any cost.
“Heart wrenching and triumphant.” T.S. of Phoenix, Arizona

They enjoy spending time with their children and grandchildren.
A story of one of the sad times in US History. It tells of how some mean are so mean and full of hate while others just want freedom and a life of peace. Good read.
Wasn't what I expected, but Mr. Dale did an exceptionally outstanding job of his descriptive story of slaves, and how they continued to survive. The story is definitely specific in the wrongful treatment of the Negroes in their care. I am a true Southerner and have embraced many Blacks as my friends, and never understood how the former slave owners could be so cruel!
The truthfulness of this compassionate storytelling masterpiece is definitely five stars worthy as the truthfulness of the Author's descriptive storylines definitely portrayed the facts of our old realistic southern misgivings. Curley definitely portrayed the factual information about some of the slave owners, but there were some that treated their people a little more fairly. Really a very touching story of how our Country became the Nation we are today, and how the South was finally tamed. Definitely recommend this compassionately motivated story to all readers as the Author's successful selection of storylines throughout the entire book will touch your inner most feelings, and his outstanding selection of characters definitely portrayed their assigned roles to perfection. I was unable to put the book aside, especially after Curley started his flight to freedom. The story isn't exactly for the light hearted, bugbear with the Author, and you will be appeased in the end!!!😄
I enjoyed this book although parts of it was hard to read. The treatment of the slaves was horrible. We first met Curley in Brandon Hawk the beginning. This book tells of Curleys birth, life as a slave, and how he ended up with the Guthers.
