Nick Eliopulos was born and raised in Jacksonville, Florida, where he grew up on a steady diet of super-hero comics and “non-fiction” books about alien abductions, psychic phenomena, and Sasquatch. He was fortunate to have parents and teachers who encouraged his off-beat reading habits, which ultimately led him to pursue a degree in cultural studies at the University of Florida.

Shortly after graduating, Nick moved to New York to work in publishing. In the course of his thirteen-year career as a children’s book editor, he had the opportunity to write for a number of licensed properties, from Thomas the Tank Engine to DC Super Friends and Scholastic’s New York Times bestselling multiplatform series Spirit Animals. His original comics work has appeared in anthologies Stuck in the Middle and First Kiss (Then Tell).

Nick’s debut novel, The Adventurers Guild, will be published by Hyperion in October 2017. Co-authored with his best friend Zack Loran Clark, the book is heavily inspired by the duo’s collaborative storytelling experiences with tabletop role-playing games; they’ve been in the same weekly gaming group for nearly a decade.

Nick lives in Brooklyn with his husband, a fellow editor, author, and Southern transplant. He’s currently employed as a narrative designer for an indie video game studio. He still reads super-hero comics and harbors an ever-dwindling hope that Sasquatch might be out there.

I am putting this book on my “read” list because guess what? I READ IT. And if I fail to hit my goodreads goal for the 11th year in a row, my soul might leave my body.

NB I read this to my 6 year old son who *loved* it. It was at times a little excruciating, but definitely not the worst children’s book out there 😂

Really fun read aloud for my 3rd grader (we take turns reading pages for equal performance/enjoyment opportunities). His little brother gets just as much out of it listening in. We accidentally read this one first, but are going back and starting with the first one now!

Read this with my 6 year old.

It’s not Treasured Island, but he enjoyed it, particularly with its many Minecraft references. The plot follows Po, a wheelchair basketball star who wants to break into acting, whilst also questing against the Evoker King in minecraft. The parallel stories between their real and game lives is a a nice twist, and the characters are a bit more rounded than I expected.

We picked this book up, not realising it was the 5th book in a series, so we’ll probably go back and start from the beginning.

This was a good one. I liked the "drama" in the dungeon and the plan to overcome the obstacles. I liked that Po exhibited a desire for the stage and got to fulfill it, what a great friend Morgan is. I loved the team work. We still aren't sure who the Evoker King is. And I don't get the significance of the bedrock, but we will go with it. Ready for the last installment so we can know who the bad guy is already.

It was kind of funny and I really like it because they found the Evoker King but I don’t know what’s in the next Minecraft book so I’m very excited to see if they beat the Evoker King. And also the picture was lovely -C, age 5

My daughter loves Minecraft. This book was a gift from her friend's mother. I don't think she's too keen to read any of the others in the series.

Mom read this aloud to me in morning carline. It seemed to have less Minecraft action than the others but I still liked it.

✨ 3.5 stars ✨

I enjoyed seeing all of the characters be comfortable in their roles but learning to be flexible and step into new roles to support each other.

BOOK REVIEW📖

🎭The fifth story in the Woodsword chronicles sees the intrepid 5 continue to solve the mystery of just who the Evoker King is in the AI world but it also brings in the challenges of the real world by way of performing in the school play.

🎭Po is torn between being heavily involved in the play (taking on a lead role) or competing with his team in the basketball league. We see how he struggles to learn what he wants from his school life and how getting older means sacrificing some things inorder to be your true best.

🎭We have really enjoyed reading the Woodsword chronicles so will be sad when this series comes to an end.
