Can Anna trust a handsome stranger with her life?

Anna Hershberger left the Amish of Unity, Maine, to become a nurse. Helping people is her passion, and she took an oath to always help, no matter the cost.

When she finds a man with a bullet wound begging her to help him without bringing him to the hospital, she has no idea how much doing so will endanger both of them.

After the man wakes up inside the hospital, an assassin with a gun storms in, and Anna has no choice but to go on the run with her patient.

This handsome stranger, who says his name is Connor, insists that they can’t contact the police for help as he takes Anna on the road. He says he’s innocent, that his undercover mission for the Covert Police Detectives Unit went horribly wrong, and there are moles in CPDU and the police force.

Is Connor really innocent, or is he an assassin too? Does he even work for Covert Police Detectives Unit, or is he lying? When he promises her that he will do everything to protect her, does he mean it?

His wounds still need medical attention, and she’s the only one who can help him, which means they need to stick together, even through car chases and getting shot at.

Anna wasn’t planning on going back home any time soon, but the one place where they can hide out without worrying about anyone calling the cops is Anna’s former Amish community in Unity, Maine.

Derek Turner, former CPDU agent who joined the Amish, will be able to help them there along with his wife Maria, since they can’t trust anyone at CPDU.

Can Anna believe Connor when he says he’s innocent? Can she trust him to not get her killed?

All Anna knows is she’s falling in love with Connor, this man whom she’s not sure she can even trust.

This book is awful bad writing too much focus on the love story and not the assassins. It’s like a soap opera and PSA as a book written by someone with the prose of a 12 year old the name of the police squad is literally Covert Police Detective Unit like come on

DNF, tried to read it for book club, but could not bring myself to finish after being about 60% of the way through. Went into it expected way over the top to the point of silly, but got way to bored and annoyed

It's definitely more Amish...but not very many Assassins.
Actually, were there any? Apart from the beginning?

This was a great book that was very well-written. It grabbed my attention right at the beginning. It's full of suspense that involves something that is prevalent today, human trafficking. Anna finds Connor wounded and bleeding in the hospital parking lot as she is leaving work. He begs her to help him but to not take him in the hospital as he knows the assassins will find him and finish him off. Once he passes out she knows she has no choice but to call the ET's for help and to take him to the hospital. This is when the suspense begins once the assassins find him. He has no choice but to escape the hospital and take Anna with him. You will find this book hard to put down as you get involved with their journey of danger in their quest to escape the killers and find the missing woman who have been kidnapped. Anna is naive and religious and she doesn't know if she can trust Connor. They both have tragedy and baggage from their pasts and they end up helping each other heal. The author treats this very serious topic of human and sex trafficking in a very respectful way and helps bring attention to this crisis. I read a beta copy and voluntarily chose to write a review. This is a book you need to read. A happy ending and no cliffhanger

Amish Assassin by Ashley Emma
Covert Police Detectives Unit Series Book 5
When nurse Anna Hershberger finds a man with a bullet wound who begs her to help him without taking him to the hospital, she has a choice to make.
Going against his wishes, she takes him to the hospital to help him after he passes out. She thinks she made the right decision...until an assassin storms in with a gun. Anna has no choice but to go on the run with her patient.
This handsome stranger, who says his name is Connor, insists that they can’t contact the police for help because there are moles leaking information. His mission is to shut down a local sex trafficking ring targeting Anna's former Amish community in Unity, Maine, and he needs her help most of all.
Since Anna was kidnapped by sex traffickers in her Amish community, she would love nothing more than to get justice and help put the criminals behind bars.
But can she trust Connor to not get her killed? And is he really who he says he is?
All Anna knows is she’s falling in love with Connor, even though she’s not entirely sure she can trust him.
This is Anna Hershberger and Connor's story.
What was that? Anna Hershberger stopped walking and looked around the parking lot, reaching for her pepper spray. “Help me! Please,” a garbled voice pleaded. Maybe someone truly was in need of help, or maybe someone was using it as a ploy to mug her…or worse. As a young nurse who often worked the night shift at the hospital in Portland, Maine, she’d seen it all. She was no longer the naïve, sheltered Amish girl she had once been in her hometown of Unity, Maine. She took a few more tentative steps, scanning the dimly lit area.

“Please help…” He trailed off, the hand clutching his side falling away to reveal his injury, which was a hole the size of a bullet in his side. She checked his back, and there was an exit wound. The cloth he had been holding to it was soaked red, and the wound was still bleeding. He had probably lost a lot of blood. He needed help, and he needed it fast. And in order to do that, she needed to bring him inside the hospital.

I like that this is a story of non-stop action with Connor & Anna running for their lives from human traffickers and dirty police alike. But I enjoyed the interaction between them as Anna fights to believe and learn to trust Connor while he is fighting past demons from his past.

I like the way Ashley lays the main foundation of finding and prosecuting the traffickers but at the same time there are so many underlying storylines as well. Anna is fighting to learn if Connor can be trusted, being hesitant to go back to her Amish community without knowing how they will feel about her, and wanting so badly to help to find the missing girls. She is dealing with her scars from when she had been taken by traffickers herself in the past. On top of it all she is overwhelmed by the growing love toward Connor.

Conner begins the story being very angry with Anna for taking him to the hospital, especially after that being the only request of her beyond physical help. As the story progresses he begins wanting Anna to trust him and has an overwhelming urge to protect her. When they enter the Amish community he has friends he loves being able to reconnect with as well as doing all he can to help find the missing girls. Being so close to Anna has him in knots of mixed feelings. He needs her to find out information but panics if she leaves his side. He can't seem to let go of the wounds in his past in spite of his growing adoration and love for Anna.

Throughout the whole story the characters fall in love with the simple, wholesome life in the Amish community. While the memories are different each Connor and Anna have a past there and feel more at home with the lifestyle in general. As a reader I love the way Ashley brings all of these storylines together in such an explosive ending! I would recommend this book to anyone who enjoys action packed danger, characters that have many different struggles to overcome, stories of human trafficking, the Amish community & lifestyle and of course a HEA!!!

Everyone is not who they seem

Anna has a new life in medicine. Little did she know that her life would change in an instant because of it. One moment she is working and the next, she is hauling a gunshot victim in for care.

The snag? He says no hospitals. Hospitals require notifications of gunshot injuries and he is trying to not be seen at the moment. But of course, she does the right thing instead.

Soon, they are on the run and nowhere to go. Anna decides to go home...a place she has left behind. Her amish home is of the past and yet, it provides her and Conner a safety that is hard to find.

Conner is trying to catch a trafficker who snags amish girls for his gallery. He must find the villain before it is to late for several girls and still protect Anna.

Can their pasts be put aside to make room for their futures or will they be stuck alone, together?

It was a good story and had a wonderful ending, including a good brawl with a table leg. I liked it.

I am volunteering an honest review for the benefit of others.

Amish Assassin is a novel about a nurse, who is called to help someone wounded in the hospital parking garage. This begins a suspenseful and action-filled Amish romance story between Anna and Conner. Conner has sustained a bullet wound for which he asks Anna to help him, but don’t call the police. Anna gets Conner help inside the hospital, and the hospital calls the police.

Conner knew there was a mole in the police department, and the mole gets tipped off as to Conner’s whereabouts, and a chase ensues. Conner takes Anna with him as he fears she’s now in danger. They are both running and hiding from a sex slave trafficking ring. Their final hideout is living with an Amish family.

It’s a good story with Christian values. I love the character development while romance develops between Conner and Anna. If you love Christian romances, you will enjoy this story. I was provided an advance copy of Amish Assassin for an honest review.

Lots of action, and guns a blazing! Anna left her Amish community to go to nursing school. She works at a Portland hospital. Leaving work one day she hears a cry for help in the parking lot. As she helps this stranger and has him admitted after he passes out, assassin’s find him and try to kill him. He and Anna escape and the “wild ride” begins. The basis of what is happening is tied into the human sex trafficking happening in this small Amish community that Anna grew up in. She and Conner are on the run as well as trying to catch the bad guys.
I enjoyed the thrill and action and heart thumping danger that followed them everywhere. Additional characters helping them brought new life and breath into the story. I didn’t really understand much about the government agency Conner worked for but that didn’t hinder me from enjoying the story.
I received a complimentary ebook from the author but was not required to write a review positive or otherwise.

Anna left the Amish to follow her dream and become a nurse. Connor is an undercover agent for the Covert Police Detectives Unit investigating human trafficing. While leaving work late at night Anna hears what sounds like someone in pain. She finds Connor laying on the ground in the parking lot shot, so she gets him in the hospital. This begins a series of events that has her and Connor running, being shot at, being tracked and ends up with Anna and Connor back in her old Amish community of Unity, Main. This is a great read filled with mystery, intrigue, lots of twists and turns and a real page turner. Ashley Emma is a fantastic writer, the characters are well developed with a great story line.

Connor and Anna met right after Connor got shot and needed help. From then on, their life is intertwined. They need to flee together, trying to outrun the assassins while dismantling a sex trafficking ring.
This is an exciting story handling several deep topics, sex trafficking (main plot) and grief. The main characters help each other through very difficult times and find happiness while healing together. Though there is a little romance involved, the plot deals with serious topics. I especially admire the author treating topics that are hard and have an impact. This is definitely a book I recommend.

I received an ARC in exchange for an honest review.

I received an ARC to review: once again, Ashley delivers a brilliant story, combining action, intrigue, crime, healing, love and Faith, grounded in an Amish community. From the opening scene of the book, the reader is gripped and will want to just keep reading to see what happens in all the characters' lives! For those who enjoy inspirational, faith-building romance-suspence, you do not want to miss out on this one!

Triggers: sex trafficking; crisis of faith, violence (guns); gender discrimination.

This suspenseful Amish novel with a bit of romance was action-pack when Anna, a nurse, gets caught up in a covert operation surrounding human trafficking with an undercover agent ending in her past-existence Unity Amish community. Full length novel with much, often repetitive, conversation throughout. Definitely unique plot, interweaving a quiet Amish community, affected by two girls kidnapped by a groomer into the trafficking world and the frantic operation to find them. Recommended to those who enjoy a different spin within an "Amish" scenario.....

AMISH ASSASSIN

I like the book well. Maybe at times I was not so into it, but I think it was the timing. (During the election results) It was hard to keep my mind on anything then, and this book won at the end. So I rate that a 5, b/c I was in a state of shock for a while. I will just leave the results in the hands of our Lord and keep reading these encouraging words from these encouraging authors. They give us another place to let our minds rest before we go to sleep after we say our prayers. Thanks Ashley Emma.

This series continues to be a good Amish action/romance series. This is book 5 in the series and it seems to be backtracking a little. I feel like there should be a tandem read on these. It is from different character view points and does contained things not previously mention. However, I find myself thinking "wait, isn't she married" or "did this happen before he became Amish". It may just be me, as I'm ADHD and don't always remember details, but it's a bit confusing. I would still recommend the read though to anyone that enjoys Amish Fiction.

Evil folks capitalizing of people in fringe communities not contacting police regarding trafficking makes many young people vulnerable

Connor and Anna work to find the girls from her childhood Amish community

With faith snd a network of friends and investigators, they might be able to shut this group down

There are those involved who find money more important than justice. Others who find power or sex more enticing

Drama and action packed romantic adventure

Amish Assassin from Emma Ashley
Is a very well written book on Christian principles. It is a very exciting book which is very topical. The characters are great and you really get to know them. The story is captivating to the end, unfortunately things like people trafficking happen and it's fantastic that the writer pays attention to this. It was difficult to put the book down. Emma Ashley has done a very good job writing this book.

I enjoyed Amish Assassin. I love how the brings relationships to the forefront and the action and suspense are more icing than cake. One thing that bothered me was her use of bring. I was taught you TAKE laundry to the line and BRING it into the house when it is dry. The author used bring when my opinion it should have been take. I have seen other authors do this as well and have been it is Southern thing. For me it's a little distracting.

Okay, this is not my usual pick, but someone I know was curious and I decided to take the brunt of the curiosity. I'm not sure if it's my unfamiliarity with the Amish community/Pennsylvania Dutch, but the dialogue in this book felt stunted, overly formal, and uncomfortable, lacking standard contractions among other things. I also felt that there was too much dialogue, things that could have been described vs discussed. I struggled to get any chemistry between the two main characters and didn't buy the sudden change of heart. As a non-religious person, there was also a LOT of praying/discussion of religion/higher powers. Attempting to bridge the gap between thriller, romance, and Amish fiction, this novel fell short of all of those genres in my opinion. This may be someone's cup of tea, but it certainly wasn't mine.

I really enjoyed Amish Assassin, it kept me on the edge of my seat and up late into the night!! It touches on a subject that has been more front and center lately - human sex trafficking. Very unique on how Ashley connected it to the Amish Community. As Connor, a detective and Anna, a nurse are running for their lives, you can see their love growing towards each other.
