Are you are gripped by fear, overwhelmed with anxiety, or choked out by worry? With global threats, dangers, political uncertainty, pressures, and personal fears about health and money, how do you respond when crisis hits? Do you rely on people, your career, your bank account, or religion to hold you up? As Pastor Greg Laurie writes, "Contentment doesn't come from what you have, but who you know. God's promises keep our fear, anxiety, and worry in check. It's only through Christ, that we can face life's challenges with confidence knowing that He is not only the light at the end of the tunnel, He is also there with us in the tunnel." This book will encourage you to have hope, even if your situation seems utterly hopeless.
Greg Laurie is an American author and pastor who serves as the senior pastor of Harvest Christian Fellowship in Riverside, California, Harvest Corona in Corona, California Harvest Woodcrest in Riverside, California, Harvest at Kumulani in Kapalua, Hawaii, and Harvest Orange County in Irvine, California.
I’ve been wanting to read one of Greg Laurie’s books for a while, and I’m so glad I finally did! There are so many great takeaways from this book, but to me it served as a great lesson in why material things, fame, and money will never truly satisfy. The newness eventually wears off from the material things and the fame and fortune is never enough. People always need something new to satisfy them. However, God never changes and can provide us with contentment and satisfaction forever. When we put God as the focus of our lives, our entire perspective changes, and only then are we truly satisfied.
I really loved that this book clearly showed why we can lean on Him , that we can trust God in all circumstances. Sometimes, books like this can have a reader being a bit overwhelmed with what the author is saying, but this was not like that. For myself, it was clear, understandable, truthful, helpful, and touched with humor at times. It is a book I would share with others and read again for myself.
