There are several ways to show your employees that you're not a mean scary boss the second someone has called or referred to you as there boss you need to change some things. You are a coach not a boss but not like a football coach a teaching coach. As a coach your job is not to hurt or embarrass the employee it’s to simply help them and lead them in the right direction so they can be successful. A few ways to approach different situations. If someone has a question about their task help them understand why you gave it to them and what they will have to do, but there is a huge difference between asking and complaining so don't get confused. To most employees meetings are boring and a waste of their time and probably think what you're talking about is nonsense so make your meetings useful and a learning experience.
