Supergirl's Sacrifice

Rate this book
The can't miss crossover adventure continues as Supergirl and the Flash team up to save the multiverse!

While the Flash and Team Arrow closed the dimensional rift looming over Central City, they still have plenty of chaos to deal with: Cisco and Curtis are lost in time, thousands of speedster refugees are now stuck on their earth, and a mad bomber is at large. But when Anti-Matter Man arrives on Supergirl s doorstep on her home of Earth-38, it ll be all hands on deck for a team-up of epic proportions to stop him.
Picking right up from Green Arrow s Perfect Shot, this action-packed follow-up promises to be one of the most exciting reads of the season as Supergirl and Superman join in on the crossover fun. The heroes from DC s Legends of Tomorrow will feature in the forthcoming third book of this can't miss trilogy.

About the author

Barry Lyga

Barry Lyga is a recovering comic book geek. According to Kirkus, he's also a "YA rebel-author." Somehow, the two just don't seem to go together to him.

When he was a kid, everyone told him that comic books were garbage and would rot his brain, but he had the last laugh. Raised on a steady diet of comics, he worked in the comic book industry for ten years, but now writes full-time because, well, wouldn't you?

The Astonishing Adventures of Fanboy & Goth Girl is his first novel. Unsoul'd is his latest. There are a whole bunch in between, featuring everything from the aftermath of child abuse to pre-teens with superpowers to serial killers. He clearly does not know how to stick to one subject.

The Crisis goes multiversal as Anti-Matter Man sets his sights on Earth-38, sending the Flash and Green Arrow across dimensions to team-up with Supergirl and the DEO. Meanwhile, Cisco and Curtis find themselves trapped in the distant past, while the remnants of Team Arrow do battle with Ambush Bug back in Star City!

I just...love these books...so much. I loved, loved, loved Crisis On Infinite Earths when they did it on the CW, and this is basically the novel version of that, at least in terms of stakes and level of fan-gasms going on.

I sure hope that nobody who doesn't actually watch the shows/is only a casual fan stumbles upon these books because damn they can get confusing.

Thankfully I am a hardcore fan, though, so I can actually comment on them! Go me! I loved how intense this book was and how Lyga mentioned to keep the tension going without stepping back from making jokes here and there. The team-ups are well-thought and interesting enough that you really want to follow every single one of them. I kinda wished we'd gotten a bit more of the Crime Syndicate (especially Iris and Johnny Quick) but I guess that will probably happen in the next part.

I hope that Ambush Bug's deal fits well into everything else because so far it felt entirely removed. I'm also curious to see what Owlman's deal is!

For me this book was a real page-turner that I went through in a day, which is a pity because I haven't bought the next book yet - judging by the title we're finally getting proper Legends content, so fingers crossed for them!!!

THIS BOOK IS SO DELIGHTFUL

seriously though, I probably need to read it again to fully process everything that was going on (and maybe reread it and the first one when the third comes out soon) but! Wow!

I mean, first of all, it had all the angst of that other Crisis without Kara having to actually die, which was a plus

also, Ambush Bug! Fun time-travel sidequest! Owlman! Heroes who don't usually get to work together getting to meet! Meta jokes and other cool references! Things we might not get to see on the shows for budget reasons!

anyway I am biased because I do love this universe and these characters, but it reminded me of everything that I enjoy about them and I would very much like to keep reading novels like these. thank you.

P.S. Brainy was wonderful and probably my personal favorite part of the book. other than Kara and Alex and J'onn. obviously.
