Pilar Hampton was a rare beauty that had been sheltered most of her life due to her upbringing. Being the good girl that she was, she had never smoked, drank, or done any drugs a day in her life. She had never even had a boyfriend, nor a first kiss. Pilar never found anyone worthy until one eventful night where she ran into one of the most sought-after men in her town. Legacy Powers came from an unstable household and had to practically raise himself and the adults around him. Known for his striking looks and charming demeanor, he kept three women in rotation and ran from commitment. That was until he ran into a rare beauty that set a fire in his once cold heart. Despite these two being total opposites, they find themselves incredibly drawn to each other like a magnet. After the first mishap on the first night they met, time quickly passes as they try to forget each other. However, what’s meant to be will be, despite what the journey throws at them. Could Pilar handle Legacy’s lifestyle and was Legacy ready to let his past life go? Will these two figure it out together or end up going their separate ways after the chaos ceases?
I definitely enjoyed the book however, Pillar was very wishy washy. She would tell Legacy that they were going to be okay then shut him out of the relationship. It was almost as if she was bipolar or something. Therefore, reading this book was slightly frustrating due to how irritated I was with Pillar.
A Good Girl and a Hood Millionaire by Khadijah J is a story about Pilar, a “good” girl who is all about her business, and Legacy, a hustla who ran his city. The pair meets under some unique circumstances; however, fate brings them back together. From the rating you know that I didn’t particularly love this, but I didn’t hate it either. The storyline was interesting and it is what kept me reading. For me this book was a skeleton that needed to be fleshed out. It had the potential to do deeper and give detail, but the story stayed surface level. Also, Pilar and Legacy were cute at first, but what more did they have between them than sex and entrepreneurship? It wasn’t one of my favs by this author.
I love me some Pilar and Legacy. He was so rough and she was so soft but I’m glad they made it work. Best love story ever. Legacy had to go thru it to get his woman. Great book
I really loved how this story started and ended. The insight into Pilar and Legacy's relationship was a interesting and entertaining journey. They were meant for each other and it was love at first sight. Pilar was a good girl, but grew into a strong woman. I was so into the story that I'd forgotten that Pilar was telling to her daughter. In the end I loved they were able to overcome so much and their love prevailed. Highly recommend this standalone. Great job Khadijah J.
Khadijah you did the darn thing with this standalone. This book was so good I kept stopping so it wouldn’t end. I wish this was a series. I loved Legacy and Pilar together. They were meant for each other. This is most definitely a must read. You deserve more than 5 stars. You outdid yourself.
That was one for the books it’s a must read. I have read love stories but this was truly unique I truly saw they was they rode for each other in a another level and also trying to keep there family together even with the deceit and disloyalties.i rated it a 5 because that’s the highest allowed. To the author this books is outstanding and your pen is on 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥thank you.
Khadijah is one of my favorite authors. I get so attached to each and every couple she writes about. Legacy was a hot mess but he loved so hard. Pilar & Legacy were stressful but relatable. Such a great story❤
I love the originality of how the story starts and ends. Pilar was a good girl who would enhance any man she ended up with like a true helpmate. Legacy turns out to be that lucky man. They had many ups and downs and I sometimes didn’t even understand why they were on the outs. It was and interesting journey between the two!
At first I was a bit apprehensive about a child asking how her parents hooked up and I was dreading not having any intimate scenes but hey hey hey, Ms K had that done! Good read! Entertaining as usual. Pilar is a good girl and happy she kept her head up. She got me upset towards the end but she got that wake up call. Legacy is the man for sure. Glad this was a standalone!
Man this was crazy but I absolutely loved it. Man trials and tribulations of everyday problems in family and relationships. Whew you go girl this book was hot like fire boo. Please read so goood
Man, this started it out so good, and then disaster striked!!! This was bad....
So I saw this book, and as soon as I realized it was a MS. Khadijah J, man I just jumped without care, bought it and started it reading it at once. I was even pacing myself because I knew this was going to be good but O.M.G was I wrong, was I wrong, and was I so wrong.... It was almost a disaster... This started it out so good, albeit a little bit confusing, weird, and different but I chugged it and move on even though I had a couple questions, 1) what is her real name or really her full name (Pey what)? 2) how old was she for Pilar to be so open in explaining her and Legs relationship?.... Now getting to the gist of it all, it all started it out so good. Pilar was the epitome good girl. She wasn't into anything, besides, school, and her business and her family. She wasn't a party person and was simply one of those goody too shoes, and overall plain Jane. While Legacy was THE man to see, the player, the badboy and the alpha of all alpha. Both had issues and both had baggage But what didn't add up was how both albeit all and everything came to be together but got lost in the way. I mean yeah their love story was cute but this ending was so whack because I got lost and I couldn't understand somethings, such as: 1) when did Pilar tried to be with someone? 2) was Pilar depressed? Or was it postpartum? 3) what exactly was her problem and 4) why did you have to have Legacy go to another woman while supposedly he loved Pilar? Then 5) he gets in a bad shape and all is well, all is forgiven??? And finally I thought they were engaged before? What happened to that? Then it's LJ asking for her to marry him, so confused and pissed and annoyed and all that... This truly was not a MS. Khadijah original and although I will continue look out for her work, this did not cut it for me... It was truly not worth my time. You know a book is bad when every time you think about it, you just gets angry and annoyed of your time wasted...
When you meet that good girl you don’t let her go and that exactly what Legacy did. The night he met Pilar, he knew she was something although it wasn’t under normal circumstances, he still knew she was special. Some time passed and they eventually saw each other again and that’s when they developed a real tight friendship. They always said a solid friendship is the stepping stone to a solid relationship and that what Pilar & Legacy had for the most part. As with all relationships their are hard time but they got through those and had a lovely marriage. I loved the flow of the story, it wasn’t rushed and it had the right amount of drama without being too much. It was a great read.👍🏾👍🏾
I really loved the way Pilar told the story to her daughter, Finally she had a girl. The story of Pilar & Legacy was a rocky one.. Who would have thought they would have grown, and loved up on each other, after their initial meeting. The family dyanmic, Pilars' was very supportive and cautious. But she was a good girl, and only loved, one man, and that was not her father. Jazmine, yep she was a thot. Raivyn, was a dummy, and loose booty... Finally she woke up and hopefully learned her lesson. Legacys' parents, were just nothing, along with his brother. Who has a whole family of dopeheads?? with no ambition... Glad that Legacy, allowed Pilar to help him, and getting out of the game, and being a GREAT Man. Well Done Book, and thanks for the Standalone...
This book was a true friends to lovers story.Im so glad it wasn’t rushed and even though it was drama it didn’t control the whole book.Pretty P was so real and I love you wrote how some women handle things once they become pregnant and have a baby..I loved both roles of the grandma’s and P’s mom.Im glad they didn’t focus so much on the family but enough to know why the dynamics were what they were..Sooo glad they worked out and have kids and businesses..Can’t wait for Benji story and hopefully Dinero gets a story eventually!! Great book and I hope pretty p and legs still happy in Benji’s book
I’m thankful that you lead female character was not shaped like an hour glass with naturally wavy hair. She had curves and a stomach as a lot of woman do. Also, your male lead didn’t have washboard abs, he was a 7 foot teddy bear.
Loved me some Leggy. Pretty P kinda got on my nerves. Being in a relationship was new for both of them, so they had to learn. His daddy, mother, & brother were crazy, frfr. Her dad was DEAD wrong for leaving her mom when she was sick and took the kids. Her brother seemed like he didn’t have anything for his mom. Oh and Jaz, shouldn’t got her head knocked off flirting with Legacy in her sisters face.
I like the way that Legacy and Pilar met and the craziness behind it especially the water hose incident. I never saw the sisterhood between Pilar and Raivyn and especially not Jaszmine. It just seemed like the used Pilar to do their hair for basically nothing and they were jealous of her relationship with Legacy. Momma Aubrey and Uncle Andy tried to run Pilar's life to much when they should've been talking to the THOTS Raivyn and Jaszmine. I'm glad that everything worked out between Legacy and Pilar in the end.
This was such a good story of not only friendship but it was a story on love and family. I love that Legacy and Pilar start out in this story as friends, the fact that she sticks to her guns about who she is and what she wants is an added bonus. The writer captures all the drama and angst that comes along with young love an growing up.This was an enjoyable experience, but I would have loved to.see a little more dialogue between the characters especially the sisters, the father and the brother. Overall good writing and a story that leaves you feeling good.
I don’t recall reading anything by this author so when I seen this book was #1 in the African American Romance I had to download and read it. Let me tell you I couldn’t put this book down, I’m talking about being TIRED and was still up reading, at work while reading 🤣 oh and I finished it at work also 😂 There was no details missed and it really told the lives of 2 different individuals working through many obstacles BUT in the end taking on the deep love Legacy and Pilar have one another. Trust you won’t be disappointed!
OMG I loved this read and I couldn’t put it down for nothing in the world. Hunny I love me some Pilar and Legacy they were a match made in heaven. Everything and everyone that tried to bring them down got their just deserts. This was my first time reading this author and not my last.
This book was a good love story. I enjoyed reading this book from the beginning to the end. I had fell in love with P and Legs relationship. And I’m so happy that for once a main character is not a slim or flat stomach small waist chick. She is fine thick girl with a little stomach.
Good story, with lots of background drama and a romance thrown in. Dysfunctional families on both sides. My only complaint would be that Legacy was doing the most - didn’t like how he switched it up after LJ. That was foul. Also, Pilar was hella wishy-washy, which I get cause she was really young. And why was this book so GD long!? It was a bit too wordy.
I always enjoy every book that I read from this author. Honestly I hated that it ended but I loved the growth of the characters. I love how the book was portrayed as a story to her kids. I look forward to enjoying benji spin-off
From beginning they were drawn to each other like a moth to a flame. Legend tried to fight it but the universe had other plans, although life threw them a few curve balls Pilar was able to rise!!!
This was an awesome read. I couldn't stop reading this bazaare and crazy love story. I love how Legacy and a innocent Pilar fell in love and even though that had a few obstacles they made an awesome couple!! Great Great Read
Khadijah girl you did it again!!! Pilar and legacy were amazing!!! Even though they were rocky they were amazing together. How she helped him turn his life aroumd and how he helped her to come out of her shell!!! Cant wait for your next release!
Thankness Pilar was a strong young woman that didn't need a man and she had a supportive mother and grandmother. I felt like this story was rushed, not developed as well as some of the author's other books which I have read more than once.
This was one of the better books I have read from this author in a bit. I really enjoyed the story line develop and the hardships of the relationships between love and family.
Pilar was a good girl turned bad. Legacy was sexy even with him being young. Her sister and friend to me was something to you seemed jealous to me. The love they had was pure I loved this from front to back.
This was a good story love how it started out with her last born asking her how she meant her dad. Pilar told the story from the beginning to the end. I recommend this book you will not be disappoint.
