“The block on your power masked my ability to detect you. I couldn’t sense you, and I convinced myself the resemblance I believed I saw was nothing more than wishful thinking. It wasn’t until we shared dreams that I knew, for certain, who you were.” - Belial
In the aftermath of Andrew’s stunning revelations regarding Aspen’s heritage and who she truly is, Logan was forced to wipe Andrew’s memories least his father discover the truth. In their panic he and Aspen go on the run, a feat that sees Aspen finally reunited with her childhood friends, Noah and Norah.
Aspen is startled when their mother Christina, recognises Aspen because of her likeness to her mother. It transpires that she and Anya attended St Michaels the same year. Aspen is angered to learn that her foster mother Vivian, knew where the twins were all along but never told her and wonders how many other truths Vivian has kept from her.
Her reunion with the twins is cut short when they come under attack from mundane demons led by Azazel, intent on capturing Aspen. When Aspen is fatally wounded, she’s rescued by Belial who spirits her away to his mansion in order to heal her.
As the two become closer, Belial divulges how he made a blood vow with Anya to never reveal Aspen’s past to her until she found out the truth on her own. He describes his first meeting with Anya and their later friendship. Aspen learns that the block on her powers was orchestrated by a warlock from the Blackstone clan. A later visit reveals another shocking truth and an unsuccessful attempt to get the block lifted.
When Aspen is later reunited with Logan, his jealousy and impulsiveness inadvertently places her in mortal danger with catastrophic consequences and heartache for Aspen…
Demon Hunted is the third compelling instalment of the gripping Shadowguard series and what an exciting continuation of the series it was. Once again the author has intricately woven a complex suspense filled plot full of unexpected twists and turns. The character development was exceptional. We are given more insight into Belial’s background, his friendship with Anya as well as his relationship with Hermona. Azazel’s agenda is also revealed as Is the part he expects Aspen to play. In addition, a shocking revelation comes to light regarding Aspen’s parentage.
My favourite aspect of the series continues to be the deepening bond between Belial and Aspen. As a Belial shipper from the very start, I was thrilled that the author chose to devote more time for my favourite couple. With Aspen conflicted over her feelings for Belial and Logan, it’s unclear at this stage how this triangle will play out. I for one am rooting for the demon.
Well plotted, skillfully written and entertainment at its finest, this series continues to go from strength to strength. I can’t wait to see what the author has in store for the fourth and final instalment.
Highly recommended for fans of urban fantasy, paranormal romance, academy books, demons, guardians, vampires, werewolves, strong female leads, mysteries etc
But I cannot stand how utterly stupid Aspen is. She doesn’t know the most basic things about anything in their world. And yet at the beginning of the series she talked such big talk about working for hard for years to be able to become a guardian.
The fight at the beginning of the book was pathetic with how bad she was at defending herself. If I remember right, the guardians at her school questioned her fighting skills because she came into the shadow world so late in life compared to her peers. But she proved herself. Well, they were wrong, cause she can’t fight to save her life. Has she even taken down a single creature this far in the series?
The end was a little sad and yet heartwarming though. Mostly because of Belial.
Loved it! Aspen is once again trying to figure out her powers Which leads her on a wild ride with Logan, Belial, and Azazel Things heat up quite quickly and Aspen finds herself being protected by Belial Excellent addition to the Shadowguard Academy The ending left me wanting more I'm not one to give the storyline away so I will leave my review with this... Get this series you won't be sorry The intended age range 14 to 19 years old but this 54 year old loved it
This series surprised me. I liked it a lot. It's a solid 3.5 so far (and to me that's a high score to be kept throughout a series). The storyline, the writing and characters are all pretty good. Let's see if the author won't screw it up in the last book by .
OH. MY. GOD. I don’t know how I thought Logan was ever an option. THAT LYING BASTARD. Belial for the win. Also, I love demon stories so this is quickly becoming one of my favorites!
It does have a lot of grammatical errors such as missing words but I am so in love with the book that I don’t even care.
Truths come out and sadness. Her powers have come and now a war. What a cliff hanger. This book was utterly fantastic and this series has been great. Thoroughly enjoying it
Knowing what you are is a good thing but Knowing who you are is so much better. Aspen know that she is Shadowguard but never in her wildest dreams would she have believed she was a reincarnated original. Now is no time to dwell on that because there are missing members in need of saving and powers to reignite. Only, Azazel has other ideas. But I'm not going to spoil it for ya. Read on.
Sooooo many revelations in this book. One in particular had me shocked, and another broke my heart. Poor Aspen can’t seem to catch a break, and everyone around her seems to be in the loop while she’s still trying to figure everything out. But the pieces are coming together and a war—in more ways than one—is brewing. I can’t wait to see how it’ll all end in book 4.
