A guardian angel sworn to protect. A woman with a troubled mind. He’ll protect her at any cost, but what if the cost is her sanity?
Coralyn’s guardian angel is never going to let her down. But Cora is unlike any mortal the angel Arathiel has ever guarded. Death shadows her, demons chase her, and even the higher-ups in the Greater Angels of the Empyrean are watching.
What’s worse is that Arathiel can’t hide from Coralyn. She can see her guardian angel even when she doesn’t want to. As supernatural danger draws near, Arathiel is always by her side, and Cora struggles with a deep fear about what it means that she can see a man no one else can. As Arathiel’s connection to Cora grows stronger, he faces a dilemma. For him to protect her, she must believe in angels, but he can never give her the thing she needs the most: the truth that he exists.
Cora’s survival depends on her ability to trust in something she cannot prove. But is her faith in Arathiel strong enough to save her life?
Angel Off Limits is Book Two of Veronica Conley’s The Greater Angels of the Empyrean, a steamy paranormal romance series packed with thrilling action and hot slow-burn love. Read Book One, Angel On Watch, to learn how Arathiel became Coralyn’s guardian angel.
Veronica writes steamy romance about angels. Her heroines are strong, creative women. Her heroes are smart, courageous men. She writes about angels, demons, and other gothic paranormal stuff. She loves to indulge in fantasy.
This is a well written book with strong characters and an entertaining story line. The author brings an action packed story filled with tons of steam and had me glued to the pages reading. She does a great job bringing the story to life and moves it fluidly with her descriptive and detailed writing, painting her scenes perfectly. I loved this book and am looking forward to the next one.
I voluntarily reviewed an ARC of this book. All opinions in this review are my own and freely given.
I would like to give a big thank you to Book Sirens and their team for allowing me to receive a free copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.
I enjoyed reading this book and it flew by. The synopsis is what initially drew me in and kept me reading. I wish the author would have drew the book out further and gave more details and had more intricate world building.
While I enjoyed this book, the world building was really lacking to me. Some people find world building in books to be boring, but it truly helps set a book up for success. It add so much depth and realism to it as well. It makes it 3D as opposed to flat.
The characters were nice, but I wish the book was long and started truly at the beginning of Cora's story-- maybe a little bit before the guardian angel showed up? It would have added more to the character to me. If you intend to write a shorter book, you *have* to bring you A game or else it feels rushed and not as good as it could be.
Does this book have potential? Of course! It's not I didn't enjoy it, I just feel like the author has room to improve.😊❤️
Overall three stars

Entertaining Tale! “Angel Off Limits” is an original paranormal tale of guardian angels. The main character Cora, a rational therapist, thinks she is losing her mind when she starts seeing an angel. Arathiel, Cora’s guardian angel is surprised that she can see him. This tale has drama, action, and suspense. Death is stalking Cora and Arathiel is there to prevent her death. Is evil stalking her? Is Cora the next apocalypse or maybe the savior of the world? Thus begins a hilariously funny and dramatic tale. The storyline is a bit slow, but it is one of the most unusual and entertaining tales I’ve read this year.
I received a free copy of this book. This review was posted voluntarily
Coralyn's family has a history of mental illness, so when she starts seeing a good looking man in a suit, and starts talking to him, she can't help but to doubt her own sanity. Arathiel, the good looking guy in the suit, is Cora's guardian angel, and Cora shouldn't be able to see him. Demons are hunting Cora, and even so of the Greater Empyrean Angels have taken an interest in Arathiel's charge.
Unique, fascinating, and sometimes funny characters. Cora and Arathiel are both struggling to define the parameters of their "relationship". Some action, plenty of drama, and even a few laughs. I thought this was a great book, and I look forward to the next book.

Well written. This book is from 2 person POV. Very original storyline of a woman and her guardian angel and the battle between good and evil. I really enjoyed the banter between the 2 MCs and the chemistry. The storyline was very engaging. I didn’t find myself becoming bored, skipping ahead or not wanting to finish reading. I do want to continue reading the series and see what else the author has in store for all characters involved.

Although this ended in a disappointing sfn cliffhanger, it was still an outstanding and captivating book with terrific characters and a truly creative, non-dogmatic plot. Mental health, trust, acceptance, courage, friendship, judgement, guilt, hope, and love were some of the underlying themes. I can't wait to read the next book in this series.
I received a free copy of Angel Off Limits, but that did not affect my review.
This is the first book I have read from this author, and it was the first Guardian Angel book I have ever read. The book is filled with compelling characters right from the start. Lots of action, drama, sex, and suspense that had me at the edge of my seat! It was also sad at times. Can't wait to read the next book to see how it unfolds in the next developments. I really did enjoy it.

I loved this book! I was absorbed in the story from beginning to end; the story line is paced well and exciting enough to keep you turning those pages. It also has All The Feels. I can't wait to read more from Veronica!

A guardian angel who has a very special human female to watch over. The human has had a very difficult childhood - bouncing around foster care with her twin brother- which makes her suspicious about things she sees and hears. Angel's are a figment of a person's confused mind. How they are able to reconcile their differences makes for interesting reading.
This is a great read with plenty of drama, suspense, and twists and turns. The characters are well developed and engaging with a storyline that had me hooked and I did not put it down till I finished the last page. I am looking forward to the next book.

Very entertaining, well written and exciting story. I really liked Cora and Arathiel's beginnings in the prequel and I have truly enjoyed this first book in this series. This is a very intriguing and original angel paranormal romance. There is great interactions including entertaining banter between characters.

*spoiler * Coralyn has been following her schizophrenic twin brother Carter to find out why he is going to a psychic's shop. She suspects that he is there because drugs are being sold in the back of the store. She makes a appointment with Mistress Aggi to try to get a look around. What she doesn't expect is for Aggi to be able to see the angel that has been following her around. Cora doesn't believe she or her brother are gifted, she suspects that she is showing signs of schizophrenic too. Cora is a therapist and knows the signs so she believes it's just beginning. Something else is going on though, repeated attempts on Cora's life and the angel is there to save her every time. She starts to really believe in him and have feelings for him. Arathiel has had trouble with being a guardian angel before. He made a big mistake getting in a intimate relationship with a long ago relative to Cora. He wants to help her but not make the same mistake as before. He needs to focus on what is going on and why someone wants Cora dead.

These stories are well written and enjoyable. Attention grabbing and hard to put down. Exciting, suspenseful, surprising, dramatic, emotional and much more. Amazing characters and they flow with the story smoothly. I received a review copy and voluntarily review it.
A fast paced action packed storyline. This is a spicy book with steamy scenes. I love the characters especially Coralyn because she's someone whom you can identify with. They are likeable and engaging characters. Couldn't put down and read all day. Want to read more from this author and this series.

I wasn't actually expecting to stumble over the first book of this series relatively soon after reading its prequel - Angel On Watch - but I was SUPER EXCITED seeing it!
In case you missed my review of the prequel, I was very much into the dynamic of these guardian angels. Naturally, I needed to read this one too, and ASAP.
We see the return of the characters introduced back in the prequel, so Arathiel and his charge Cora, her sister Amelia, her boyfriend (who's a douche), her admirer Justin and HIS guardian angel Librabis, and all the other Greater Angels, aka Gabriel, Cassiel, Michael, as well as some newcomers like Raphael and Jeremiel, Azrael, that sort of thing.
Basically, this book is an exercise in 'what and how quickly can kill Coralyn', and Arathiel trying to obey the rules of guardian angels have about interracting (or not) with their charges.
He's kind of losing it over how many times Cora almost dies, and also because he thinks he's breaking rules all over the place.
Meanwhile, Cora's twin, Carter, apparently sees demons, and their entire family line has a rare psychic seer ability, but they also always die young; Gabriel is having a massive headache over trying to find a seer about a prophecy that has all the angels in a tizzy because two of them are supposed to fall, and a mortal's blood needs to be shed to restart time, but a girl's gotta moisturize, too!
And on top of that, is Cora actually seeing all this, or is she just turning incredibly schizophrenic as her situation progresses?
I thought I'd seen everything with two guardian angels discussing what can kill you in an art museum. I was nowhere near prepared for two guardian angels in a Starbucks after a couple near-death experiences, with only one mortal capable of seeing them, and Cassiel jumping into the mix by having a convenient flat for Cora to rent.
On consecrated ground.
I. AM. HERE. FOR. IT.
I'll be honest and say I'm a whole lot more interested in the angelic part of the story than the mortal one. Sure Coralyn is important - but the interaction of all these greater and lesser angels is EVERYTHING. It is LIFE. It's basically a big conglomerate, a family-owned company, with the owner constantly absent and the CEO trying to keep things together while all the other officials and her underlings are doing their own thing, all the time.
On top of that, someone's put a hit out on Cora, and devils are trying to kill her, her twin now won't talk to her anymore and wants her to not trust her angel, and apparently there ARE Nephilim, since Gabriel was going to mention something about having sex with angels.
Also, Arathiel was apparently KING OF THE WORLD before he became a guardian angel, and he's important. They've gone to great lengths to hide it all from him, however, so I'm now banking on the fact we'll start learning more about him soon.
As for Cora, I'm a bit on the fence about her. She seems incredibly childish sometimes and not at all her age in certain situations, which I'm not sure if it's the point, or me just nitpicking. But some of her reactions and thought processes seem a lot more on par with a teenage girl rather than someone who studied psychology, or at least in my opinion.
BUT I can't wait for the second book. Because I need me some more Librabis in my life, giving Arathiel grief.
And Gabriel rolling her eyes to the stars because, why are males so dense, she asks???
This is my first Veronica Conley book and it is good! Angel Off Limits is the second book of the Greater Angels of the Empyrean and it is not a standalone but it is easy to follow based on how well the main characters are been portrayed.
Coralyn is a psychologist who comes from a family with a history of mental illnesses. Maybe is her thirst to know or explain what happens around her that attract her to her line of work. Everywhere she goes extraordinary events happens sometimes endangering her. Soon she start to notice a handsome, dark suited man who seems to be always present wherever she goes. Her logical mind try to make sense of what she is living while her inner self tells her that she is in the presence of someone special.
Arathiel is her guardian angel. He is the man in the dark suit, the one who she can see but nobody else can. He is kind of rebellious, have a record of getting too close to his charge and even falling in love once. Arathiel and Cora develop a very interesting dynamic, insightful moments, fun and tons of sparks. These two are slowly falling in love , but will it work? She is human, he is an Angel…will he risk his very being and what cost will it be? Cora and Arathiel’s story will continue in the next book (yes, there is a cliffhanger) and at this point I’m invested in their fate.
As I said, this is my first book by this author and it is the middle one in an ongoing series. I enjoyed it and will read Book 1 to learn more and follow the breadcrumbs that Ms. Conley left along the way. I try to avoid books ending in a cliffhanger, but in this case now I just want to see Cora and Arathiel happy together. Angel Off Limits is a 4 star read for me; half star deduction because of cliffhanger and other half star deduction because it was the middle book in the series, have to go back and wait for a resolution, but that doesn’t discourage an avid reader like me who is always glad to discover new voices within the paranormal genre.
I received ARC and I’m happy to share my honest thoughts and opinion.
Do you believe in guardian angels or not? That is the question many people ask, but not Coralyn Basevi. Even though she is familiar with genes for schizophrenia, she is convinced that she sees an angel. And he manages to save her time and again from danger. But how do you tell your sister that what you see is real and not a symptom of an illness? How do you tell your brother, who has been diagnosed with schizophrenia, that you see angels and know very well that it is true? Until your angel tells you that angels do exist but she is not so important that there is one for her. How do you hold on to your faith so that you can be saved from the demons endangering you. And what do Archangel Gabriel and Raphael do in her story?
I really enjoyed this story. The world described in which you sometimes include the question; what is true? Passages of thoughts that can fit in with someone who is hallucinating, but also mentally healthy! The story of Cora, who is perhaps in the world to save the world from ruin. Recommended!

✏ I received an advance review copy for free, and I am leaving this review voluntarily.💭but all thoughts and opinions are mine.
✏First of all , the cover downgrades the book . Something more mystical would be better. The same goes with the title. ✏That was definitely for adult readers 🔥hot and steamy but romantic also. So if you are not of age or ready to read that kind of content do not choose this one. ✏ The thing about the great great grandma was kind of twisted if I may say. ✏Tragic story though with that grandma.I teared up in the labor description. It gave out a lot of pain and depression ☹️. ✏Well written, not a hard book , seems a good series to start if you want supernatural book. Actually it was the kind of series book that it is complete on its own but you also want to continue to the next book. ✏Well done !
I voluntarily reviewed a copy of "ANGEL OFF LIMITS" This was my first read by Veronica Conley and I was very impressed with her writing very creative such a unique paranormal storyline. Thys story is full of drama, humor, hot steamy scenes, mental issues, trust, suspense, intrigue with a twist that has you turning the pages. Cora has a guarding angel Arathiel who shes not suppose to see but she thinks her mind going crazy her family has a history of mental heath issues she needs help because she has demons chasing her even higher ups wants something from her but Arathiel can only help her if she believes in Angels. The chemistry between Cora and Arathiel is rather steamy the banter back and forth between the characters is entertaining I love these two together. I definitely recommend to get this book even though it has a cliffhanger which I personally don't like I can't wait for the next book to see what happens I thoroughly enjoyed this book.
I am so excited for this book series! As an avid paranormal fantasy reader, I often find that most series are in the young adult genre. Finally! Another steamy angel series for adults! This book has everything: characters you love, characters you hate, slow burn romances, angst, and lots of tantalizing angels.
Arathiel is a guardian angel with a history of getting a little too close with his mortals, Coralyn is a mortal who shouldn’t be able to see angels but can. Cora also happens to be a mental health professional (sort of a big deal when you start seeing things you know shouldn’t exist). Add in an amazing array of supporting characters, and you’ve got quite the story!
Not to mention, it really does a great job of introducing characters, while preparing you that some amazing stuff is yet to come in future books of the series. I can’t wait for the next installment!

Short summary: This book is basically just Angel Porn :) (Why does it feel like Angels in stories are always obsessed with sex?)
This was a fun quick read and I wish it was a little longer. The "plot" was pretty much just sex and relationship drama, with some interesting mental health issues thrown in but still enjoyable to read.
The characters were fun and well rounded considering it was a romance with lots of silly sex. And while the sex might make you roll your eyes and go get a room already it did not distract from the story or feel creepy like in many stories.
This book held up pretty well as a stand-alone book (I never read the first book in this series) but was clearly just a middle part of a larger story which made it feel more like slow burn fanfiction than a typical plot-heavy novel.
When Coralyn saw the good looking man, she thought she was finally succumbing to her family's history of mental illness . Arathiel is Coralyn's guardian angel and he cannot understand how she is able to see him as he watches over her. As they spend time together they get closer, blurring the lines between guardian and subject and now the other Angels have also taken interest in her. Cannot wait to see what happens next. Loved this book.

A guardian angel sworn to protect. A woman with a troubled mind. He’ll protect her at any cost, but what if the cost is her sanity?
I hadn’t read this author before so I wasn’t sure what to expect. This was a pretty good book. The story was well paced. Arathiel’s, and the other Angels, remind a lot of the angels in the movie City of Angels, which isn't’ a bad thing. I really liked both Cora and Arathiel and felt bad for Cora when she was thought she was delusional. Overall, I enjoyed it and can’t wait to read more from this author. **I voluntarily read and reviewed this book
I really liked this book. I’ve never really read many “Angel” books but this one is awesome! Coralyn this is she has a mental illness, she keeps seeing people who others can’t see. I loved the way the author dealt with this. They were very sensitive while throwing in some humor and witty dialogue. A rathole is her guardian angel. It’s his job to protect humans who are important to the grand scheme of things. All the world build7was really well done and the play towards the romantic kept me intrigued. I can’t wait for the next book in this series.
This is a new author to me but I did read the prequel, Angel on Watch, and enjoyed it. This story is about Coralyn'. When she starts seeing a man in a suit, she is afraid her family’s mental illness has capture another victim, not her guardian angel, Arathiel. She shouldn’t be able to see him, but she can. Demons are hunting Cora, and even so of the Greater Empyrean Angels have taken an interest in her. I voluntarily received an arc copy of this book from HiddenGems
I loved this story and it’s book 2 in this series it’s about Cora whose family suffers from a mental illness so when she see’s a man in a suit who no one else can see well she thinks that she is losing it but Arathiel is Cora’s guardian angel and Cora is in danger there are demons after her but Arathiel can’t do much until Cora believes in angels. Amazing story and I can’t wait to read the next book in this series and I highly recommend this book it’s definitely well worth the read.
