Sensitivity

Rate this book
Years of suppressing my truest desires and most prominent needs in our relationship had my emotions all over the place, heart hardening and every element that made me a woman seem like a flaw. The softness that I was founded on wasn’t welcomed. Over the years, I’d managed to dilute my vulnerability, conceal my pain and deal with my feelings alone. I was merely a shell of the woman that I’d entered the relationship as. But, today, I was reclaiming my power. | This is a novella. |

Every interview Grey gives she always sings the praises of “Sensitivity” saying that it’s one of her favorites that she’s written and I definitely understand why! She is the QUEEN on small yet mighty. While this story was short you had everything that you’d get from a full novel like Luca!

Gem found herself in a loveless relationship for the past 5 years. She struggled with knowing what to do vs actually doing it. Keaton wasn’t cheating, he wasn’t disrespectful he just didn’t give her the love and attention she deserved. He felt everything could be solved by throwing money at Gem. He stayed calling her sensitive because she’s “overreacted” when he forgot their anniversary or failed to plan anything for Valentines Day. Finally fed tf up, Gem packs her ish and like a thief in the night heads to Channing. What she wasn’t expecting was to share a meal with a man who would fully capture her heart right there in the airport! Cavali was putting full court pressure on my girl and the chemistry could not be denied! I absolutely adored this insta love story and it had me falling even deeper in love with Grey’s storytelling!

As the great Aretha Franklin once said beautiful gowns. This cover is gorgeous but the words/plot did not match. My advice Gem run. Oh I almost forgot the way sex work is written didn't read as sex positive. If your partner tells you they don't want you to keep doing something that you enjoy is coded for controlling behavior down the road.

CN: unprotected sex, throwing suitcase to prevent her from leaving, showing up at place of employment to make her leave, slut shaming

New love

Gem is unhappy...the man that she has been with for the past 5 years has disappointed her yet again. Refusing to celebrate key moments in their lives and then blame her 'sensitivity' as the issue, instead of owning up to his lack of action. Gem is fed up and decides to move around permanently. On her quest to new beginnings she meets Cavali, an airline captain and they have an instant connection. Despite her initial hesitancy she throws caution to the wind and indulges on all things Cavali. They are both falling quickly, but when the unexpected lands at their doorstop their bliss is thrown for a loop.

Overall, it wasn't bad, but I think I was missing the beautiful descriptors I normally get from a Grey story. We didn't even hardly get a description of his house. Also the ending was mid, it felt like Gem settled for something she wasn't interested in to be near Cavali which doesn't feel like the point of her new beginning.

This is a quick and easy read however, I didn’t love it. I enjoyed the story but it was just ok for me. Normally when reading a story I can visualize the characters in my mind from their descriptions. We only got that Cavali had cocoa brown skin, curly hair and a cut body. I’m used to getting a little bit more of the descriptive features and I wish that we had gotten more for Cap. Also, I don’t feel like I got a good sense of Cap’s character. My take away is that he’s a pilot, has a very serious and intense personality, and he’s possibly an older man (which probably isn’t true). We were provided with more insight and better descriptive features of Gem. I know that this is a short story but I wish that we were given a little more. I also realize that this is fiction and that the author has complete creative control but that move in with a complete stranger on the same day you meet was too much for me. I feel like Gem overreacted when Cap received that unannounced surprise at his front door. Sis could have moved out and fell back until the situation (that occurred before her) was resolved but to completely ghost him was immature in my opinion.

Such a cute story and wonderful quick read. I was able to finish the book in under 2 hours. I loved the communication between Gem and Cavali. Even though the story progressed in such a unrealistic short time, I loved it anyway. I’m not a big romance reader but stories like these keep me entertained and coming back for more.

I went into this book blind. Didn’t even read the summary. So I didn’t know what to expect. Typical love story you fed up with your man you have been with for over five years. You pack up and leave to go start over in a new city. Who knew the city would bring a new love together. You have to believe in first sight to really be into this book because I felt like these two characters fell in love so fast but when the chemistry is there who can stop it.

I would read it again. It was a quick novel to get me excited about love again. A little drama, but just enough to make the situation seem real.

Short yet sweet 😍

This was a cute story, Cavali knew what he wanted and that was Gem. Gem knew that no woman should have to tell her man how to treat her and instead of being unhappy and having a man that doesn’t “Get It” you make loves to move on and get what is deserved and did Gem do that indeed when me Cap. This might have been a quick read but it was packed with a cute love story!

"Over the years, I’d managed to dilute my vulnerability, conceal my pain and deal with my feelings alone. I was merely a shell of the woman that I’d entered the relationship as." -Gem

So many women sacrifice themselves, giving their all for and to "men" who don't, or aren't capable of doing the same for them. Then, those same men somehow manage to turn the tables and make them feel guilty for wanting something they deserve. They wake up one day to find that they've wasted valuable time, suffocating under the pressure of smothering their true selves...that is until they decide, "enough of this BS!" This allows the space and opportunity for a woman like that to be in the right place to meet the right MAN...one who is more than capable of returning the love, affection, and attention she wants and deserves.

This was short, but mannnn did it pack quite a punch to the chest! I sat up and cheered for Gem when she decided enough was enough with Keaton. I have to tell you, men like him make me want to utilize my throat-punching skills. He was so cavalier about Gem's feelings and what she was trying to say! Like bruh, 5 years?! Really?! That's how you're going to treat her?! That sh** was frustrating as hell!

But then there was Cavali aka Cap! Listen, Gem may have wasted so much time on a man who wasn't worth it, but look where--and who--it led her to. Cavali knew that Gem was a woman who more than lived up to her name. Like a precious jewel that catches your eye through the glass, Gem's presence and spirit must have called out to Cavali and said, "she's the one." He was captivated by her the moment they met, and he had no qualms about letting her know it and feel it. I did think that things moved rather quickly between Gem and Cavali for my tastes, but--holy smokes--they had me mesmerized. The way Cavali seemed to hone in on Gem's feelings and insecurities, and then said exactly what was needed to put her mind at ease each and every time made my heart turn over in my chest.

That little hiccup in their short-lived relationship had a sista like me a bit nervous, and I didn't blame Gem one iota for her reaction. After all, they did dive into this love thing pretty quickly. She did what she had to do for her, and in a way, it made me cheer that she was no longer putting her feelings on the back burner for a man. But Cavali was not about to lose his precious gem, err Gem, and left no stone unturned in seeking her out and getting her back. Whew, child! I loved it!❤💖💜❤💖💜

Gem x Cavali

One thing GH gone do is make you fall in love with her characters. I loved Gem & Cavali.

Gem was tired of being in a loveless relationship, so she packed up & dipped on her man. I'm talking about sis pulled a straight magic trick on this man. Probably had him questioning the last five years how she left & changed her number with no explanation. Gem was tired of her words falling on deaf ears so she said she could show you better than she could tell you. & Just like all the real ninjas in the world of Huffington, Cavali caught Gem at the bar & applied straight pressure. Whole time he feeding her, taking care of her, & listening to her. There was no question about where he interest lied. The ending of this book was so different from other GH books which I loved. Don't get me wrong, I love all the beauties finding love & creating families. But I loved how Gem changed her whole career & she got to spend more time with her man 🥰

Spoke to my Soul

I usually don’t write reviews, but this one Grey! Lord as always the assignment was understood and now I’m sitting here in my feelings. Too many times females seem to be messed up time and time again after being told we’re “doing too much”, or we’re being “too emotional”, or even asked “why you always in your feelings?” I know I’ve heard things lined so many times that it’s created a “hard” version of me. I’ve built up walls to protect my heart and my feelings. When all I crave is being able to be vulnerable, act in my femininity and be SENSITIVE! This is a must read for ladies and men!

I loved every moment of this spontaneous love story

This story was about more than finding spontaneous love but about knowing when enough is enough and letting go of what no longer serves its purpose in your life. Idk if I could up and move like that but I feel Gem on finally realizing that something isn't work or what you want anymore and making the necessary moves to find what you really want and deserve! Cavali is truly a real man and showed it through his actions and words. Every woman deserves a man like that

I think at some point most people have had that relationship or friendship where they have to make all the decisions and be the one to always reach out. So when Gem picked up her crap and got on down from her relationship it was totally understandable. For her to meet Cavali and for him to show out and show her everything she deserved was well past due. Cavali should have informed Gem on the other things that were happening in his life so Gem would have been aware. But all in all, I really like this story and suggest you give it a read.

Keaton was a fuck dude and I’m glad Gem jetted on him. No one should have to stand for mediocre love aka relationships. No one should be told constantly that they are sensitive. I believe that’s what makes a woman a woman. I was too glad when Gem dipped on Keaton!
Now on to my book bae Cavali was everything she needed and then some. His attention to her sensitivity in term of her feelings, her boundaries and her flaws was fucking intoxicating. I loved this and I loved that she was finally allowing herself to be in her soft girl era.

ANYTHING Grey Huffington write I will Devour. She is a damn good writer and one thing she gone do is make you feel and show you what love can look like. I love that she wasn’t weak and finally stood up for herself. Often we stay and allow people to dog us out for too long but Gem said baby I’m done and I won’t allow another one to play in my damn face!!! And she stood on that, hurt & all. Mr. Pilot said he wasn’t playing bout his woman and he was gone show and prove !!! Track you down and bring that ass home where you belong!!! Short but worth every damn second 😘 chefs kiss

Another quick, addictive read from Grey Huffington, and yes, I devoured it in one sitting 😌📚.

Sensitivity gave me that perfect mix of chemistry, heat, and emotion. The connection between the characters felt intense but also tender, the kind of dynamic Grey does so well. It’s spicy enough to keep you hooked, but still layered enough to make you care about why they are the way they are.

Grey has a way of writing romance that feels familiar yet fresh, giving you the swoon and the steam without losing that emotional pull. This one was short, sharp, and exactly the reset I needed between my heavier reads.

If you love quick romances with instant chemistry, a touch of vulnerability, and that Grey Huffington magic, definitely add this to your list.

Every, time!

At this point it just isn’t fair that her books are so captivating. Cavali is everything! His emotion was so real that i felt like he was talking to me. He was confident, masculine, and sensitive all wrapped up in one and i loved it. I loved that he knew the journey he was on and identified the work it would require and still signed up for the job. Round of applause Grey Huffington.

All the feels!!!!

All the feels had me reading this sweet insta-love story twice!!!! Past hurts should prepare you to love and be loved better...not stop you. Gem was reality, we are always told we are too sensitive, yet expected to be soft and submissive. Cavali was everything a grown man should be. I love a confident man that accepts his feelings and claims his heart's desire. Great short and sexy read!!!

Gem and Cap amazing

This is my favorite book of this year. As I told the author once I reached chapter 6 I knew it. Gem is me and I am her.
Cap was everything Gem needed. I’m glad she found someone that could love her sensitive side. So many times men tell us not to be so sensitive but not Cap. Gem learned to love and value her sensitive side. Great job Grey!

Women Need Affection

Any man that doesn't understand the sensitivity of a woman is a jerk. We need what we need, but when you born hurt or made to feel like you're asking too much you began to build a wall. The only man that give a woman what she needs is the man she has been design for. Great job Grey!!! I enjoyed it immensely

Mile High Love

Keaton didn't value nor appreciate Gem and he took her love for granted. Gem was tired of unreciprocated love so she packed up to move away to start her life over and ended up meeting Cavali who was more than happy to be the real man that she needed. Cavali was all about that grown man business. I Really enjoyed this story.

What a GEM!

Grey has done it again. Given us characters to root for, a fast-paced storyline, and a hot as fire love scene. Grey does short stories the roght way and I am never disappointed. Gem and Cav were real and I loved Gem taking control her life as much as I loved Cav for taking control over his destiny. He was not here to play. He knew what he waanted and he went all in!

Finally true love....

Gem stayed in a dead five-year relationship and one encounter at the airport found the love of her life. Cap and Gem had an instant love that just kept on sparking. Cap gave Gem the attention she was craving and needed. He recognized her hurt from her previous relationship through her actions so he made sure to do what her ex did not do.

Another great read by Grey.

This was a cute story. I wish it was longer because I wanted to see more of them navigating their relationship and getting to know each other better.
One thing that annoyed me a little bit was the use of the word sensitivity. Okay, that is the tittle of the book but were you trying to prove a point of why that is the book title?
But still, Cap and Gem did it for me.

didn’t really like the couple or the chemistry between them which made it hard for me to enjoy the romance. grey huffington is great at writing short stories (and this book obviously won’t stop me from continuing to read from her) but this story IMO would’ve been better if it was longer.

the story just didn’t click for me, but im still a fan of grey huffington’s writing style. <3

Cavali & Gem.
What’s crazy is that from the first moment, he was intentional. He was about her without knowing anything.
A bit fast for me but we love a man who knows what he wants. Purrr 😌

The chemistry was just perfect!
The lil drama in the middle was cute too.. provides a lil angst but ended as expected. Very cute story.
Oh and fxck Keaton.

Sensitivity

I think every women has been in Gem’s place- wanting affection from the one you love. Unlearning the bad habits from the past can sometimes hinder another’s man perspective being openly received. But Cavali was a man who knew what he wanted.
I absolutely loved this!

Another hit from Grey!

It so refreshing to read about a grown man who knows what he wants and goes after it full force. Whereas many immature men can’t accept the sensitive side of women, Cap embraced it and showed Gem just how she should be treated. Absolutely loved this book.

Awww loved it

Cap and gem were destined for each other and she just had to regain her trust in men again. He swooned her before she had a chance to really know him. What he wanted he went and got no matter what the cost was and glad he found a gem in gem.
