FORBIDDEN ROOMATE IS A HOT AF 60K STANDALONE, SMALL TOWN, SECOND CHANCE, FORBIDDEN BEST FRIENDS TO LOVERS ROMANCE WITH A HAPPILY EVER AFTER THAT WILL HAVE YOU STAYING UP WAY PAST YOUR BEDTIME. NO CLIFF-HANGERS, NO CHEATING, JUST SIZZLE.
Willa Haynesville and Mason McLean have a history that goes back over 150 years to the settlement of California, or at least their families have a history of feuding for 150 years over a piece of property that made the fortune of the Haynesvilles when the first Haynesville of Eden Lake cheated the first McLean out of his part of the shared claim. That early deceit led to generational feuding and a financial gulf that could not be bridged..
More than 150 years later the feud was been settled, or at least secretly resolved as far as Willa and Mason were concerned. From kindergarten to their senior year in high school Willa and Mason had formed a secret bond of friendship—a modern day detente. No matter what the history of the families dictated, the two friends engaged in a subversive friendly relationship—that is until once more fate or karma stepped in and righted the injustices of the past. The financial security of the Haynesvilles came to an abrupt end through bad investments and the excessive greed of Willa’s father. And the contemporary McLean—Mason’s dad, let the Haynesvilles’ bad luck destroy them when intervention was possible to prevent the fall. And for the two secret friends, the contemporary financial duel ended their friendship. The pact that the two kindergarteners had made to put aside the families’ feud was broken.
Willa left for college and upon graduation, following her dreams to become a journalist working for the LA Times even as her family left Eden Lake impoverished and shamed. They moved to Sedona, Arizona, selling all properties in Eden Lake except for the house in which Willa had lived from birth. But currently, Willa is jobless as the transition of newspapers from print to a digital format requires fewer reporters, so Willa’s contract was not renewed. And, as a result of working as a freelance writer with an almost non-existent schedule, she was able to check on the condition of the family property in Eden Lake which the family rented out seasonally and now was planning to sell. But, arriving in the middle of a series of fire outbreaks, Willa is unable to get to the house with the fire line moving closer to the house on the ridge. Thwarted in her task of getting to her parent’s property where she had planned to stay, to help her manage her limited funds, she now must seek out a motel room available. But unable to find an available room, Willa is on the verge of leaving when she runs into her past love and more recent antagonist—Mason McLean—at the local coffee shop.
Mason had entered the military following high school graduation, eventually becoming a Navy Seal. Following a traumatic brain injury, he left the service and used his skills to help his brother, Trotter, up his physical conditioning with Mason’s supervision, and when the workouts helped propel Trotter from second string quarterback to a starter, word got out about Mason’s skills in helping players improve their performance. He even began helping actors prepare for superhero roles. And, now he was engaged in marketing his success into an internet and streaming fitness business that he ran out of the childhood home which he had bought from his parents as his business took off financially. But Mason also continued to use his military training and expertise as a volunteer firefighter, battling the seasonal fires in the hills around Eden Lake. And so, on his way out to the fires, he meets his past at the coffee shop, and upon learning of Willa’s need for housing during the fire outbreak, he offers to let her become his roommate—to share his house until she can gain access to her old home. Fate and nature offer the former childhood secret sweethearts a second chance at love and the opportunity to openly mend a generational feud.
Holly Jaymes writes a sweet story of second chances building her story on the classic trope of feuding families and generational prejudice. The renewed love of Mason and Willa allows not just a second chance for the lovers, but also for the families.

Money changes everything!!! The Haynesvilles and McLeans have been feuding for it seems like forever! These two families at one point in history were great friends but when a greedy Haynesville tricked the elder McLean out of their portion of their gold rush the fragile bond between the two families is mortally wounded. Resentment flows down to generation after generation until we run into these two adorable children by the name of Willa Haynesville and Mason McLean. At a young age made a pact to keep their friendship and their feelings for each other just between them and it lasted from grade school clear through high school. This tenuous and hidden relationship was lasted for years until the money monster rears it's head all over again.
When Mason's family ran into financial troubles his father asked for help from the senior Haynesvilles who in turn denied them the assistance and placed the McLean family in financial straights. A few years later the Haynesvilles, due to the senior Haynesville mismanaging the family coffers, found themselves in a financial bind and found themselves turning to the McLeans for aid and the McLean family provided the same solution to the Haynesvilles that they handed down just a few years before. With a misunderstanding between the two star crossed lovers Willa went on to college and obtained her goals as a writer in California and Mason entered into the military with a stellar career and memories he wishes he could forget and returned to his beloved home town. Although the elders of both families no longer live there Willa was sent home to look into the selling of the family home. Due to a horrible accident Willa ended up staying and despite the feud between the two families, well at least hers, Mason invited her to stay with him. Will these two ever get to the truth of what happened in the past? Will they be the ones to heal the wounds of the past? Can Willa ever come out of the shadow of her family??? Grab a comfy seat and take a chance on Willa and Mason as they share a valuable life lesson about forgiveness and the unconditional love.

This story is fantastic and I loved it! A wonderful story about second chances, finding true love with an old friend and ending family feuds. Mason and Willa have been friends since kindergarten. When they are in high school, the feud that has been going on for generations rears it's ugly head when Mason's father refuses to help Willa's father when he is struck by a financial crisis. Willa sides with her parents and Mason is hurt. Ten years later, she's back home to check on the family home so her parents can sell it. Unfortunately, there is a forest fire raging and the homes in the area have been evacuated. Having no place to stay, she ends up in a local coffee shop only to run into Mason. He offers to let her stay at his house and eventually she agrees. Before long, things are back to the way they were, the two are living in the same house and getting along just like they use to. The night of their class reunion arrives and Mason agrees to take Willa. It ends in the two having an argument and he leaves first. After talking to a friend of theirs, she goes back to his house and finds him in his hot tub. Before they know it they are in each other's arms and engaged in a night of passion. Things are going well from that point until her parents return to town. Her father ends up accusing Mason of intentionally letting his house burn down and once again Willa is forced to choose. When Mason gets let go from the fire company due to the lawsuit Willa's father has threatened, she goes to talk him out of it. He agrees if she leaves Mason alone. She agrees to save Mason but it breaks her heart. A good friend of the both of them steps in and does whatever he can to get Willa and Mason back together as he can see just how much they love each other. In the end, after fighting and speaking harsh words to each other, Willa and Mason apologize and tell the truth about their feelings and express the love they have for each other. This leads to her agreeing to stay in town, move in with Mason and move forward on the journey to their happily ever after.

Eden Lake was named by Willa's five time grandfather Henry Haynesville when he and his partner Jeb McLean set off searching for gold in the mountains generations ago. Once they found it Henry stole the claim and treated his friend like an outsider along with the future generations to come. The mountains nearby were also called Haynesville Ridge. Over the years the feud began and continued throughout each generation.
Willa Haynesville and Mason McLean were secret bestfriends since kindergarten. They couldn't let anyone know because of their families feud that had been ongoing for generations. Neither one agreed with the feud and wanted no part in the bickering and bad blood that was going on within the families. Everything seemed to be great until her father Harrison made terrible business decisions and lost a large portion of his fortune and asked Mason's father to help him out and he refused. Their friendship ended badly and she left town at eighteen only to return ten years later to look to sell the family home that has been rented on and off for the last ten years. She arrives in town only to discover that she can't get to her house due to a forest fire and has nowhere to stay. She bumps into her old friend Mason and he offers to let her stay at his place before he realizes what he's doing. She is a beautiful blonde knockout in between jobs as a journalist after being laid off in LA but still has some freelance work to complete and he is an ex marine (Seal) now celebrity trainer and billionaire with muscles galore! What could possibly go wrong (or right) when they reminisce about old times? What happens after she discovers her family's home has burned down and her parents are heading to town? I thoroughly enjoyed this wonderful well written book and highly recommend this author. It was funny, passionate, emotional friends to lovers second chance romance.

This was my first book I read by Holly Jaymes, and I must say I was hooked from the first sentence. I can't wait to read more by this author.
Willa and Mason were secret childhood friends growing up. Their families had a decade family feud going on. Willa and Mason didn't care about the feud, but their parents would never let them be around each other. 10 years later and Willa is back in town. They have grown up and are fighting feelings toward each other. They both had feelings before, but were to afraid to tell the other. Mason is a volunteer firefighter and Willa came back to check on their family home. Willa's home burnt down and Mason let her stay with him. When her parents came back to town he gave them his townhome without them knowing who he was. Her parented did not like him based on his name and tried blaming him for stuff that happened. Willa tended to side with her parents to please them which Mason did not understand or like at all. Most of the town hated Willa's parents because they thought they were town royalty based on their names because their ancestors had funded the town.
This book is told from duel point of views which is one of my favorite writing styles. I like knowing what both characters are thinking. I also really liked the flow of the writing. This book kept me hooked and I had a hard time putting it down.
I wanted to get in the book and hug the characters and shake Willa's parents for being so conceited thinking they were owed the world. I felt for Mason when Willa would side with her parents.
Overall I really liked this book!
#ForbiddenRoommate #booksprout ** I received a complimentary copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.
Forbidden Roommate is the second book in the Forbidden Bad Boys series by Holly Jaymes. This is the story of Willa Haynesville and Mason McLean. Willa and Mason grew up together in Eden Lake, California. They both knew that they could not be friends or even like each other because of a family feud that went back over 150 years. That was the time of the gold rush and there was cheating, killing, deceit and so much more that went on. But for Willa and Mason there was no feud and instead they became best friend, but without the families knowing about it. Well that was all good until there was more financial deceit, greed and revenge between their fathers which put an end to their secret friendship. Life went on for both of them after graduation. Willa went to college and followed her dream to become a journalist working for the LA Times newspaper. Mason signed up to serve his country and became a Navy SEAL. But an injury that he could not come back from ended his SEAL career and he decided to take a medical discharge. Back home he happened into becoming a very successful personal trainer to Hollywood actors and others. Willa and Mason cross paths again in Eden Lake and then things heat up between them when he offers her a place to stay while there are wild fires raging and she cannot get to the family home, which she had been staying in. Will a truce be declared? Will they get a second chance at a new beginning but this time out in the open?
I received a copy of this book for my honest review. My opinions are all my own.

The story was wonderfully crafted mixing the cliche love story of 2 people who couldn’t express their feelings for each other because they’ve been best friends their whole life, a family feud stopping them from being together, and the chance of making it right by staying in one roof.
Mason was a self-built billionaire who never forgot where he came from, stayed humble and never cared about the feud. Willa on the other hand was from the top of her social status but her life was affected by the wrong choices of her family eventually affecting her impressions about Mason. They had their own issues with family, social status, and others but their attraction toward each other grew stronger than any of those. In the end, they set aside all other issues and focused on the most important thing, their love for each other which eventually ended the family feud they had since the time of their ancestors.
The story was a roller coaster ride. The characters are not perfect, but they were willing to compromise and sacrifice for each other. This is a great story with a HEA and I can’t wait to read other stories in the series. :)

Forbidden Roommate by Holly Jaymes Willa and Mason were very good friends all through school. They kept their friendship from their families due to decades of feuding. Mason knew he wanted Willa as more than a friend but kept that to himself for fear of rejection and losing his best friend. Ten years have passed since school and Willa has returned to their small town to the family homestead as her parents are wanting to sell the property. However, a fire has rendered the home to ash and rubble. Willa and Mason meet in the coffee shop and renew their acquaintance. Mason offers his place for her to stay since he is a volunteer firefighter and will not be back to his place until morning. Both of them have unresolved issues from the past and each has been checking the other person out wondering if they can be more than friends. Her parents come back to town and cause a rift in Willa and Mason’s budding relationship. This is a very good story written by Holly Jaymes and I was not able to put his book down until I read every word. Great characters, very good story line and beautifully crafted. Love it!

I really enjoyed this friends to lovers forbidden romance, I found the beginning a bit slow and it did pick up pace later. The storyline is well-written and filled with plenty of drama and emotion.
Mason and Willa have been best friends since kindergarten and through high school, their families have had a feud since forever and even though they didn't want any thing to do with the fighting unfortunately they were dragged into the mess. Now, years later Willa is back in her hometown and Mason lives there to now. They have put their past misunderstandings aside and have found their friendship again as well has realizes that their chemistry is sizzling and soon their friendship becomes more until her parents come to town to cause more drama for the happy couple. I really liked both characters, really likable and relatable.
Wow, the storyline was fantastic, loved how this family feud could give the Hatfields and McCoys a run for their money. The main characters of Willa and Mason are portrayed as genuine with friendship that has lasted many trials due to the families always in disagreements. I especially enjoyed the wit and banter, and for these characters to finally come to terms that they are not their parents. Great realization of Willa growing into her maturity and defying her parents, by standing up to them, and giving her support to the man she loves. Some wonderful steamy scenes that keeps you hooked from start to finish.

I have read several books by Holly Jaymes and really enjoyed them, but I had a hard time getting into this one. I never fully understood the big deal about the feud between their families, the entire reason they were kept apart. I also didn’t enjoy when the narrator changed from one character to the other. I thought there was too much repetition where each narrator basically said the same thing. I ended up skipping several paragraphs when the narrator changed because I already knew what they were going to say. I did appreciate that the characters didn’t hate each other like so many second chance stories. I don’t enjoy when anger suddenly switches to lust/live, so I was glad I didn’t have to worry about that with this story.
The Haynesville’s and Mclean’s surely put the Romeo and Juliet Saga to shame in this gripping tale dating back to the gold rush era of conflict, secrets, one upmanship and entitlement.
Once you start reading it you will not want to put it down and will go through a range of emotions and these are not only to be directed at the main characters but also the supporting characters most likely Willa’s parents as there self-importance knows no bounds.
I wonder if it is a start of a series and we shall get to read more about the other characters like Tucker, Emma and of course Wyatt

Childhood friends Willa and Mason had to be best friends in secret because of their family feud and eventually that feud impacted their friendship. 10 years has past and Willa has returned to their hometown and accepts Mason’s offer of somewhere to stay when her family home is destroyed. Once I started, this was a very hard to put down book. This is a tale of family and small town dynamics. Mason is sizzling hot and after denying their feelings for so long it’s time for Mason and Willa to act on their attraction to each other. But Willa’s parents are coming to town to see the destruction and the family feud will make it tricky.
Willa and Mason had been secret best friends since childhood but had kept it secret as their families were involved in a feud that had been going on for about 200 years. They had loved each other as teens but never admitted their feelings for each other as they thought the other only wanted friendship. I loved this story, it was like a modern day romeo and Juliet only without the death. It was sweet, sexy and the 2 main characters were so perfect for each other. Recommend , 5 star read

I love friends to lovers romance and I think this book is a second chance for both Willa and Mason too. I like that the author added a little bit of an enemies to lovers romance theme in this book because their families hate each other. The book is well written and Mason is a swoon worthy. Willa is a bit hard to catch up sometimes because she loves both Mason and her parents but that is normal, right? So I still enjoy reading it and decide to give it 5 stars.

I still can’t believe how good this story was! A modern take on the Hatfield and McCoy feud just sexier and no violence. I loved the world that the story is set in. I think Mason’s brother could use his own book and Willa and the other wonderful characters could make cameos. That my friends is what makes a good book. When I can imagine myself in the town or can speculate what the characters might be up to that is the definition of great writing plain and simple.

Just like Ronseal this book is exactly as the description tells it.
Well written and easy to read meant I didn’t want to put it down once I’d started it. Characters were believable and despite the fires I’d fancy a holiday at their lake condo!
Brought a happy tear to my eye with the HEA but there were other emotions in play throughout the story

Wow so much happened in this second chance romance! An amazing compelling on the edge of your seat read! It is a well written, emotionally deep, fast pace page-turner with a consistent well developed story line. There is action, drama, suspense, humour, secrets, steam, intrigue, and much more to look forward. The characters are likeable; their chemistry is undeniable! A recommended read.

I really didn't like Willa. She was spineless even up til the end, where someone else ended up being the backbone and standing up to her parents and she just soaked up the crumbs of that to win the Hero back. I think Mason was all to quick to forgive. The story was ok and the plot works, the fued and all that pushed the book along but frankly wasn't as impressed as I could have been with a stronger Heroine.
I had to read this one all at once. Much of the stupid moments that the main characters had were suprisingly relatable and did make me want to scream at them to stop being stupid. The sweet moments softened my heart since Willa and Mason were written so real.

The Romeo and Juliet vibe was so strong for this one, just without the tragic ending. It did take years in the making and for them to finally get their acts together! I loved the drama but my favorite part was actually the emphasis on communication.

One hundred and fifty year old feud couldn’t keep them apart. Willa and Mason were friends since kindergarten. There was always this simmering love between them but the hateful feud between their families kept them from expressing their love. Loved this story hope there will more from Holly so many great characters in here.
