It’s not easy being a witch when you protect those who’d burn you at the stake.
Ava López has never felt so betrayed. Looking for answers, she’s returned to her former coven, but instead of finding the truth, she’s fallen into a trap set by her own blood.
The dark spell that’s been cast upon her strips Ava of her vampirism, and in the days that follow the ritual, a void grows within her. She’s more conflicted than ever. After all, Ava never wanted to be a vampire. This could be a second chance at life, a newfound freedom from darkness and bloodshed—so why does she feel as though she’s lost the most important part of herself?
To have any chance at the life she craves, she must break the spell, but doing so requires the unimaginable. Unless there’s another way. Unless, by harnessing everything, she can finally set herself free.
Danielle Rose is the USA Today bestselling author of The Darkhaven Saga. She holds a Master of Fine Arts in creative writing from the University of Southern Maine. When not writing, she can be found frolicking the woods of Wisconsin, where she lives with her husband and their dogs.
The beginning of this installment in the Darkhaven Saga really gripped my heart. Ava was made mortal again and the way her sire Jasick looks at her, broken hearted, just really gripped my heart.
In the war between witches and vampires, mortals and the immortals, you may think you know who the good guys are and who the bad guys are. This series has completely changed my perception on who the good people are in this series. Frankly, I'm shocked that Ava didn't know until Book 4.
I will say this book had me on a roller coaster ride of emotions from crying for Jasick and Ava to cheering to OMG to dayum.
Like I said, I love this series and can't wait to dive into the next book.
Ohhhhh my, I voluntarily read and review this ARC, this is the 4th book in the series, and the 1st I've read, now I need to read the others, gotta love a good fight between witches and vampires, the dark thoughts of a family turning on you and the only family you have left isn't the way life is supposed to be, the vampire family has embraced, nurtured and fought for what is right, I can't wait to catch up on this series, and for the next book, thank you for the privilege, Dana
I do not know how Ms. Rose keeps doing it but every time I pick up a book in this series, I can not put it down and the whole time it keeps me on the edge of my seat wondering what in the world is going to happen next?!?! This book was yet an other amazing read, and I truly can not wait for the 5th and final book, i'm actually in a way dreading it because it is the final book and I'm so sad to see it come to an end. If you have not read this series you need to! from the first book to this one I have not been able to put it own. so many twists and turns, cliff hangers and so many questions. you will love ava and all of the characters.
⭐️⭐️⭐️.5 “I am desperate to escape this world, even if my only escape is a prison far worse than the one I am held in now.” . What you’ll find: ✔️YA Paranormal ✔️Witches & Vampires ✔️Fasted Paced ✔️Continuing Series ✔️Singular POV . This is such a great series that I have enjoyed. However I did feel like this one was a bit of a repeating storyline. Ava still wanting to help her family, putting the vampires at risk, despite their betrayal on multiple occasions. At the same time, she’s young, and lets her heart guide her. And I can’t exactly fault her for that. Even if I want to shake her. There is a bit of a twist with her being stripped of being a vampire. And the emotion in her conflicting feelings. . There’s plenty of action. Moving at a fast pace. And still a lingering tension between her and her sire Jasix that I’m invested in. You felt Ava’s turmoil in this one. I have to say though, I felt Malik really shined in this one. Stepping up, supporting. While this book wasn’t my favourite of the series, there were still many aspects I enjoyed. And I look forward to the conclusion! . This is book 4 of the continuing Darkhaven Saga and picks up where book 3 left off with that shocking cliffhanger. This series should be read in order. . I received an ARC for my honest review.
Danielle Rose did an amazing work with the new installment to the Darkhaven Saga and it’s one of my favorite book series of the year. The story just gets better with each installment. As always I was hooked from the first chapter.
Ava Lopez believed that her former coven/family could change, and accept her for who she has become. They have set a trap for her to cast a Dark Spell that stripped her of her Vampirism side.
She has never felt this betrayed by her own blood. They did unforgivable things to her and she never thought that they were so cruel.
The Dark Spell leads to new hard decisions in Ava’s life.
What will the cost be in breaking the Dark Spell? Is the Dark Spell breakable?
Blood is not always thicker than water. The people close to you can give you more comfort than your own family.
I hope that the series will continue after the 5th Installment - Dark Curse (Release date - 27 October 2020).
You will not be disappointed by the fourth installment to the Darkhaven Saga. A MUST READ for Young Adult, Paranormal Romance and Urban Fantasy lovers.
A well written, and an easy to read, book.
Official release date: 4 August 2020 – Preorder Now.
4.6 stars This is the fourth book in the Darkhaven series and it is not a standalone. It picks up where the previous book left off and weaves its own spell around the reader. There is so much to unpack with this one and the phrase no good deed goes unpunished comes to mind. All Ava has wanted was to help those she considered her family and friends but what she got was not what she expected. As her former witch coven uses a dark magic spell on her, the vampire within, is stripped away leaving an emptiness where it once resided. Struggling with everything, at her core, Ava is a fighter but has she finally come up against something that is unshakeable? How far is Ava willing to go to break the chains that bind her? This is one well written storyline full of drama, betrayal and the strength of the family who is not of one’s blood. It puts readers on an emotional rollercoaster ride seething with anger to feeling the heartbreak of losing a piece of oneself to reclaiming one’s own power. I highly recommend this series! I volunteered to read a copy of this book.
Danielle Rose did another amazing job with Dark Spell showing us how wicked the witches of Darkhaven could be and what they would go through to hurt one who use to be their own. Ava is stripped of her Vampire side by a dark magic spell. She is filled with an empty void and a lose and longing for her sire Jasik. The vampires return for Ava and Will, but are not completely successful. Throughout the story you can feel the struggles and pain Ava is going through with the lose of her Vampire side how the family that was her blood are torturing her and her family by choice are doing everything in their powers to save her eventhough she keeps getting herself into trouble. Jasik's bond to her seems to be growing stronger and Malik's loyalty is above and beyond. All the vampires seem to be stepping up to help, support and save her whereas the witches are doing everything to control and bring her down. Ava finding her strength in goodness to persevere was absolutely amazing, but what will it cost her! This book was fantastic and I will be anxiously awaiting the conclusion!! Thank you Danielle for another wonderful read!!
I am loving this series and Dark Spell might be the best book yet! Ava is in the fight of her life against her former Coven. With her friends and allies she has to try and stop the battle that has been waging between them.
Dark Spell is action packed from the very beginning and will keep you on the edge of your seat in anticipation. Book 4 is heavier than the previous 3 since so much of it revolves around the battles between the witches and vampires. The author has done an excellent job of showing us how much Ava has matured through the series. Jasik and his brother have been instrumental in the series but we got to know some of the other vampires a little better in book 4. Looking forward to the next book in the series.
This book was my favorite of the series so far!! Danielle Rose always finds ways to surprise us and her writing is so unique. She has an amazing way with words and you feel like you're in the book.
Ava is going through so much in this story. There's so much pain and emotion and I could feel it myself. Her blood family has devastated her with something so devious she can't believe it. Her vampire family will stop at nothing to save her. We see from this book blood is not always thicker than water!!
What an amazing read this is!! I'm so excited for the final book and looking forward to what Danielle has up her sleeve. I highly recommend! This is a definite MUST READ!!
I can't believe the next book is gonna be the last of the series! And so far, I believe this one is the best one of all the books so far! Ava is stripped of her vampire side when her coven places a dark spell on her, which pissed me off by the way, and now she feels empty. She doesn't feel right and to get reconnected with her vampire, she may end up having to sacrifice again. Uuugh this girl can't get a break! The book ends on a good note but there is still a lot we need to know and I want to know more. How will it all end?? Can't wait for the next one to release!!
Wow! So much action and crazy family drama. Ava is tough and willing to fight for what she believes in. Talk about girl power and family are not always those related by blood. The bond between Ava and the vampires is stronger than I realized. I wish there were more to Jasik and Ava's connection in this book but at least its action packed from beginning to end. You can not helo but fall in love with Darkhaven and all the characters. What an awesome ending but now I can not wait until the next book.
I received a free copy of this book and am voluntarily leaving a review.
I have thought and thought about how I could review this book and NOT give away any details. This book is amazing...its not a series I would normally read, but sucked me in with Book 1 and now I'm anxiously awaiting book 5. I read this book so fast that when it ended I literally gasped out loud and said what just happened? She left us on a cliffhanger like no other. Great read, especially following the series. Can't wait for the next installment. 5 out of 5 stars!!
Danielle does an amazing job writing this story, I couldn’t put it down! I think this is the best so far. Ava and will had a dark spell put on them by the witches, leaving them fighting for their lives as the darkness worked through their bodies and minds. Can’t wait to read the next one. This book is full of action and emotion! I cannot imagine what is coming next. I received an advance copy for my honest review!
Ava’s journey is on a crazy path between dark magic and good magic, will things ever be normal in her life again? How can her family be so horrific towards her? Will she ever become a vampire again? And what does this mean for her and Jasik?? I read through this book so fast - it was so action packed I just couldn’t stop turning the pages! Excellent storytelling! ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
I received an ARC in exhcange for an honest review.
Its not the best book I've read. This is the first book in the Darkhaven Saga that I have read, and it was not the best. Fast paced does not equal a good story. I felt that this was too short and fast paced, so I do not recommend this book. Maybe only read this book once all of the others have come out, so you can have a full story.
What a stinking roller coaster of emotions. I can't believe her own mother would be so cold. The torture her and Will endure is absolutely insane. I love how not one, not 2 but all the vampires came to their aid. Ava ending the witches she did was emotionally draining. I felt it for her. I felt like I was in this book and I was part of every gut wrenching moment. I can't wait for the curse!!!
Welp, slowly going to go insane awaiting the final book of the Darkhaven series. Without giving anything away, that roller coaster was full of grief and agony trying to send help to Ava. By far the best of the series, but then again I say that with all of Darkhaven's books... lol 5 stars hands down.
This is the 4th book in this series. Ava and Will have a Dark Spell put on them by The witches, which include Ava's mother and grandmother. Who need enemies when you have family like that. Every twist and turn in this book left me wanting more. Danielle really knows how to hold your attention. I love this series and can't wait for the next installment.
OMG this story just keeps getting better! In this installment of The DarkHaven Saga Ava and Will have had a spell cast on them that ripped their vampire away. Malika, Jasik and the rest try to figure out how to save them. This installment ends on a good note. I can't wait for Dark Curse!
I read a lot of paranormal books and most are the same with few differences but this series right here!!!!!!😍 It is so good. It is so different. Danielle you have a way with words that make you feel you are right there. I can not wait for the next book!!!
Ava is seriously my favorite! Her determination and resolve is fascinating to read. The way the author weaved this story had me on the edge of my seat the entire time. I stayed up way too late reading but the sleep I missed was well worth the enjoyment I got from this book. Bravo!
This book was one of my favorites from this series. Absolutely love this series and Danielle Rose’s writing. I was glued until the end. Now I am sitting on the end of my seat waiting on the next book in this amazing series. Highly recommend!!!
Danielle never ceases to amaze me. The fourth installment is one of excitement and action. Ava faces one of the biggest betrayals anyone could ever imagine. Could she ever return back to the life she has grown accustomed to? Will she seek revenge?
I absolutely love this series! This book kept me on the edge of my seat and I couldn’t put it down. I was disappointed when I realized I finished the book so quickly and now have to wait for the next one. Danielle Rose has done another amazing job of writing and I highly recommend this series!
Danielle Rose brings us back to Darkhaven with Ava feeling lifeless and betrayed. Wanting and hoping she can get back to the Vampires House but needing to find Will first. The emotions in this book will tug at your heart - Kudos Danielle.
A heart pounding addition to the Darkhaven Saga. Loads of action, sacrifice and eye opening lessons for Ava. My son (12) and I are truly enjoying this series and can't wait for the next!!
What a page turner. So much going on between the witches and the vampires. Evil, goodness and who wins in the end? This was a very good read. I recommend this book to anyone that likes this kind of genre. I’m off to start reading book 5.
