February 27, 2020I was going to DNF for poor writing but the chapter I finished ended on non-consent, so yeah!

Why do authors think rape, or almost rape, is sexy?
It started out good. I was actually a little excited to know that I might have found a decent book, it seems as if I've read them all. I quit reading really early on though, the forced concubine and what seemed to be leading to rape, regardless of whether she was turned on (no means NO), is not for me. I'm not sure why so many of these books are like that. I'm all about dominate, alpha males, but that doesn't equate to forced sex and physical abuse when the girl doesn't listen.

Argh... A cliffhanger 😕
Not bad, and the lack of horribly unnecessary roadblocks was appreciated, but damn... Can no one just write a book that stands alone instead of trying to sell us a series without stopping in the middle of a story?

A desire to belong
For Jazmine stealing wasn't a choice but a necessity, looking for the one gem to help her twin brother Caleb. With the small jewels pilfered from the Vanifia's safe tucked in her pants, she'd have currency to fuel her journey for the next two years. If she could elude the clutches of the Vanifia King. She was tempted to procure a sample of his odorous mating fluid which contained anti aging properties n highly prized, but that thought was fleeting. She needed to escape the palace n look for a ride to Killian as she drugged the King n escaped out the window. Running n hiding from the palace guards she found passage on a ship with a fellow Territhian. The price of passage, become his concubine. Agreeing to escape the guards, she was shocked to see his eyes shift, as a deep pulsing red ring formed around his iris. The shock of being in the presence of a ghost was nothing compared to the intense overwhelming desire that overcame her. He was not Territhian but a Vartik, a race of beings thought to be extinct. Stories abounded about their ability to drown their lovers in ecstasy from their touch n taste. He smelled like rain mixed with male sensuality as her insides flamed. Hiding her emotions, she avoided him as best as she could, not ready to divulge any of her secrets to anyone. Her true desire was to find her brother, find a place to call home, somewhere where she could truly belong.
Marek was leaving the restaurant trying to keep his emotions in check so eyes didn't shift. Travelling undercover as a male Territhian suited his purposes for the time being as he wanted a quiet adventure to end his freedom properly before returning home. A new King was crowned according to the old magic of his people. The shifting occurred when the present King received a vision, an open that the crown should pass one year from that day. As the firstborn son he was the next in line, 6 months had passed since his father's dream.
Boarding his ship he's approached by a woman with brilliant green eyes, the sight of her making his heart beat faster. Looking her over he also felt the warmth of arousal overtake him. Her breasts larger than Vartik females, found him wanting to see them up close, explore them, taste them. A warm smell of vanilla rolled over him as he stifled a growl. He decided to take her to Killian on one condition be his concubine for the trip. Little does he know the adventure he wanted would come in the form of this Territhian female. For she is more special than anyone he ever met.

Anticlimactic
I had great hopes for this story. As someone who loves a good thief, add in some aliens and you've got gold. However, as much as their were parts of this story I especially liked overall I felt it really fell flat...
Possibly this was my fault but I kept waiting for a big dramatic life or death moment, attempted kidnapping or insurmountable family objections but that never came... Instead it was very blah. Spoiler here but for example he told a huge direct lie and when she finds out and he somewhat explains himself she's like 'ok I understand, we have only known each other a week and I would have lied too. I still love you and want to spend the rest of my life with you because I believe everything else you have told me must be true'... REALLY!! Even if she understood mentally his reasons a normal person would need time to move forward emotionally... Maybe take a day (notice the sarcasm) to think over this choice of yours...
Anyway like I said maybe I was expecting too much but with this being one of a few small things about the book that were not to my liking I think I'll pass on the rest of the series.
On a positive note I do think his brother is adorable but unfortunately lots of books have that character type 🙁

Lacking Character Development
This entire book happened at warp speed. Character steals, runs, hops a ship, insta love, instant pregnancy, reveals on heritage, spark of powers, change in circumstances, and then boom it’s over.
You’d think somewhere in there the characters would have had more articulate conversations, done something beyond make sexual innuendos and sleep together, and had actual character growth.
Like it introduced interesting concepts apocalypse, deities with special powers, yada yada but actually had nothing happen. Fmc learns basically a deity been alive for an undetermined amount of time, and you’d think oh she will start exhibiting powers and learning to use them because obviously there will be a war or something. Nope none of that but she got pregnant, has an overbearing man who won’t let her do anything because babies, and eye roll.
Just meh.
Idk if your looking for a quick read without substance or character depth this is it.

Tracy always has great stories. She is a readers writer. Her stories are well thought through and keep you entertained.
Jazmine is a thief, running for her life. Marek is in a personal mission seeing the universe before he becomes King. This is their adventure.
Jazmine is on a mission to find her brother. Being a thief, she is on the run and comes upon Marek at the hatch of his ship. Asking for help, Marek invites Jazmine aboard his ship the cost to be his concubine for the trip. Jazmine agrees to gain access to escape, then makes the decision to not follow through. As the trip moves along so do the feelings.
The only downside of this book is the cliffhanger ending.

So Good!!!
A wonderfull read and need more! Great characters and a great tale that will grow as the journey continues for Marek and Jazmine.
Jazmine is unaware of what she truly is other than being a twin. She hides on Marek's ship under the guise of his companion. The two connect over time and hiccups as they travel to Marek's home world. They learn much about each other and knowledge gained from Marek's brother. I had thought his father might be indifferent to his sons choice of mate and eventual wife. But happily read otherwise. Now we await the journey of siblings etc to see how they venture in finding Jazmine's brother.

Fast paced insta love story
This is the first time I have read a book from this author. I enjoyed the story. I realizes that there is a prequel story which may have helped me put things into a better perspective but I didn't feel lost.
Mark meets Jazmine as she is running from a king that she stole from. She is trying to find a way to save her twin brother.
It is quite fast paced as the relationship only takes.place over a weeks time. I am interested to learn about what happens to Marek's brother in the next story.

A fun adventurous read
I really enjoyed reading this! There was tons of Adventure and hijinks and steamy love! I appreciated quite a bit of the inner turmoil as well. There were a few rough patches throughout where I thought Marek was a bit overbearing, but I understood that that was part of the story line. However, I really didn't like how that story was handled at the end at all. I will admit that I skimmed through the last two chapters because I felt like the whole thing had washed out.

Liza Probz has written the first book in the series of a female thief wanting to escape from the planet and hitch a ride on a ship to anywhere. The captain of the ship has stipulated the price and she considers the cost but has no intention of paying. The sparring between these two and the dangers they face is a thrilling ride for the reader. Looking forward to the next book with anticipation.

Jazmine is a thief on the run who has no memory of who she really is. Desperate to save her twin brother, she is forced to look for a mythical gem’. Marek is a future king wanting to explore space outside his solar system. In exchange for a favor he agrees to take Jazmine aboard his ship to escape the cops that are after her. That’s just the beginning. I loved this book and can’t wait until the next one. I voluntarily red this book and this is my honest review.

I'm becoming a fan of sci-fi romance and this is a good one. Marek and Jaz are interesting characters in this story of mistaken identities. She's on the run and he's offered to help. I love the twists, turns, and crazy chemistry. The book is fast paced and a fun read. Best of all, it's less than $1 or free with your KU subscription.

I really enjoyed this book, Jazmine is a thief it’s for a good reason but no one can know that. She meets Marek as she is running from the guards because she stole from the king so she begs Marek to take her with him and he agrees as long as she would be his sex slave. Jazmine just wants to survive but something about Marek sparks her interest and her heart but when she finds out his secret sparks will fly.

Billed as a sci-fi, but I don’t see it as one. This was not so much about the science as about the magic blue light of a goddess.
I enjoyed the story, even though there was one scene that headed towards non-consensual sex. After drugging her with his saliva, Marek decided not to go through with the deed. (That would have to be an awkward condition to have!) I am not sure, however, that I want to go through another six books before Caleb, Jasmine’s brother, is rescued.

A very wonderful Ending
I have read only a few space romance books in my years but this was a nice quick and easy read. It had playful banter, and a dominant alpha male hero who has a soft side and is so protective of his mate. I am very curious about the next book so I hope it's just as wonderful as this was.

Wow! What a book.
I've had this book in my library a while and it's definitely one of those books you wished you had read sooner. I was gripped from the very beginning. I loved Jazmine and her ballsy tough attitude plus she's a thief that stole from the King of the Cats! I loved the chemistry of both Jazmine and Marek, they oozed raw passion. Look forward to reading Nojans book.

Exciting read
Exciting and adventurous story of a woman forced into a life of crime to free her brother. She runs into a man from a place that is myth come to life. He realizes she is his forever and vows to help her find her brother. Love the story line, characters and just the right amount of pleasure.

I enjoy sci-fi romances and this one delivers a very good story and a good couple at its heart. You definitely feel the connection between the couple from the beginning. They have a lot to work through with their complicated pasts.

The first book in The Vartik King Chronicles series a well written story that has a great storyline the story flowed across the pages smoothly from one to the other. Jazmine and Marek's story which I enjoyed reading. I received an Arc of this book and I am voluntarily reviewing it.

Unexpected surprise. I happened to stumble across a book, and I'm glad for it. I loved this story. All the characters were very pleasant and the whole story had a head and a heel.

Interesting and entertaining, but lacked the completeness I was looking for. (Felt more like a must-read-series starter.) The fallout from him keeping things secret wasn't as big as I would have liked, either, but the twists were creative and kept me hooked right to the end.

LAUGHTER AND TRUST
Fated this is most FUNNIEST read ever some parts I still cringed and stopped, but I am glad I finally finished, although EPILOGUE WOULD HAVE BEEN NICE TO KNOW THE GENDERS.
