Ughhhhhhhhhhh

I swear Bennett better fall right next to Wilson
I want that shell of a homosapien to be left as nothing but pieces
Broken little cells screaming for mercy that will never be granted!
And I swear if you forgive him !

This entire series has been difficult to get through. It's a really dark series, with very dark themes, sexual abuse, physical/mental abuse of women as well as constant carnage of death and blood letting. This genre walks a fine line when it comes to "dark themes" because it can easily go from interesting, engaging to just plain sick and twisted. I have read many dark Mafia genre whereas the dark theme is successfully incorporated throughout the novel. The author is able straddle the fence when it comes to what is "too dark". Perhaps some people will enjoy this twisted series and not be put off by the characters in this series. I need to have some kind of connection with the characters in a series which has been impossible to date.

Bennett is a monster that does his father's bidding without any questions until he starts to discover what his father is capable of and has done. Aurora is an innocent woman whose only sin is being born to the wrong family. Bennett's obsession with breaking Aurora, killing her family and fiance, raping her best friend is sick and twisted. The things he does to her while being his hostage is "unforgivable" especially after finding out her connection with his first love. He is a sadistic psychopath who has no boundaries when it comes to abusing women. His family buys and sell women as part of their business and traffics them once they have been broken. Killing women is no big deal to him, they are just pawns and pets, all disposable. He doesn't recognize them as people, only objects. He glories in the blood and gore of brutalizing his victims whether they are man or woman.

Aurora is a strong character who fights Bennett but is soon devoured by the dark. She should be the light in this series, but she succumbs to the dark becoming as much of a monster as Bennett is. There can't logically be a good ending to this series because there is too much history between these characters that is just unforgivable. There history thus far exceeds any reasons (even in fiction) for these two characters to get together.

You begin to see cracks in Bennett's armor during book three and begin to see Aurora going from a light character to a dark one. Instead of Aurora bringing light into the series you see her slowly changing and descending into the dark.

The story has it moments and the author can write, thus the two rating. If you like a very dark, twisted themed story, then you may like this one.

⚠️ WARNINGS⚠️
1. If you read the 1st/original edition of book #2, you will not understand portions of this book. The original edition of book #2 was rewritten to include an additional 20% that you must read first!!!
2. This book ends with a cliffhanger!!!!

Initially, I was wowed by this book. I read hundreds of dark books each year, yet what Bennett does to Aurora, the people who don’t support him and his traitors is unequivocally disturbing and entertaining!!! I was so incredibly impressed by Ms. Michaels’s depravity!!!! However, soon after thinking how awesome this book was, the storyline drastically cooled off and the poor editing blasted to the forefront. At times, scenes or thoughts were repeated verbatim and words were excessively overused - for example, spill blood is said 8 times! There were tons of punctuation errors (missing commas where there should’ve been, semicolons incorrectly used, etc.), missing words, extra words, and the wrong word (for example: PEAKING instead of PIQUING, APART for A PART and many, many, many sentences like, “I whispered and bringing her forward to kiss her,” “I planted more kissed along her shoulder,” and “I was made my way across the yard, many things ran through my mind.” Sooooo much potential yet all of these distractions were disappointing!! And then the unexpected cliffhanger!!!!! When I read/reviewed this, this was listed as book 3 of a trilogy with no mention of there being any more?!?!? What a disappointment!

I got halfway through the fourth chapter (if you’ve read this book you’ll know what I’m talking about) and I decided I couldn’t finish this book. I love my books dark, but this book was too dark for me. I hate not finishing a book but I could not in all honesty continue. Bennett is so reprehensibly violent that I couldn’t find any redeeming features in him. If anyone tells me it gets better I will continue but at this time I just threw in the towel.

Yes, sir.

His ferocious magnetism

I love Bennett because he’s depraved; he’s deviant. Bennett wields power, acts with confidence, gets the job done and takes it to the next level, ruthlessly and often. This book is dark, uncompromising and unapologetic, and I devoured it.

Here we see Aurora live and learn and bow to the ways of Bennett, now with a new awareness, a guided intuition if you will. This dark princess comes into her own, and the antihero makes some life-altering decisions while they unite in a war against his father, Wilson. I read with compulsion on all that Bennett metes out to those on his list, including his attempts to tame his pet, his lady love Aurora. Their sexual chemistry still so undeniable, so passionately raw.

With Bennett expect the unexpected, pure unadulterated depravity and retribution. You can’t look away and secretly you want to get burned by him, to break into your new self. Yet another excellent read.

***4.5 BREAK ME STARS***

Reading order:
#0.5 Rules of Bennett
#1 You Will Bow
#2 You Will Break
#3 You Will Obey (coming soon)

You Will Break follows on from the events of book #1 of the Rules of Bennett series, You Will Bow. I could not wait to see where Ember Michaels was going to take this series. And I can honestly say, I was NOT disappointed!

I still can’t believe this is Ember’s first attempt of writing dark romance. Her anti-hero, Bennett Moreno, is the epitome of dark and depraved. This is not your typical romance, or for the faint of heart. In fact, there is very little romance in the first two books in the series – but I’m holding out for more romance between Bennett and Aurora in the third and final book in the series. There is definitely something brewing between these two!

The pace, character growth and plotline are developed well. And you’ve guessed it… another cliffhanger. Imma need You Will Obey real soon!!

I strongly suggest you start reading this series with the Prequel because you do not want to miss a single word of this story! This is another superb addition to this fantastic series. The plot is brilliant and deliciously dark. The characters are wonderful, even the evil ones. It’s a book that once you start reading it you do not want to put it down. The only disappointing thing about this book is that it had to end! Looking forward to the next book in this amazing series.

Omg! I have read a lot of dark Romance books but this one...it completely blew my mind, he puts her in those seven days of hell , Iam surprised she survived, well he actually made sure of that....He did warn her after all that he will make her regret the day she was born, but my poor heart broke for Aurora , And the worst thing was Bennett was heartless, he didn't even flinch while putting her in that misery , I remember that one line when he opens the box and she falls out of it on him and he actually MoVes sideways to let her fall on the concrete 😫 And then Aurora is broken she never smiles up at him and he feels bad that she is giving everyone what she is not giving him,i.e her emotions her smile....she only answers Bennett in a yes or no Sir, which is what he truly deserves , but I was dissapointed when she goes back to herself after Killing Hank and then almost has pleasure sex with Bennet, Lol I just wanted Bennet to do more....to apologise more...to feel more guilty...to feel awful and regretful to have done that To Aurora...I really didn't want Happy ending for Bennet unless he does something worthy of earning Aurora's and my forgiveness, but nevertheless I enjoyed reading this books .

Wow, Now I’ve read the other books to go along with this series... And I am shook like this is some dark, DARK stuff so if your planning on reading this I will say be prepared for the worst of everything.
OKAY 📢KINDA SPOILER ALERT AHEAD 🚨

Now I do have to say that it’s a great series but something in the whole of everything that has happened made me feel a bit left sided about the path that occurred. Because Aurora went through literally hell and somehow made it out on level grounds with Bennett?? and I think that’s what’s frustrated me about the journey because she came so far just to go back to obedience even tho she was already being obedient it was in form that annoyed Bennett but now she wants revenge on someone who of course had help in her being where she is now but I believe Bennett is where her true hurt and pain lies. And that’s where she should have focused her attention because Bennett of course was going to get the revenge anyway...? Idk I guess I’m just cut up for Aurora but the story is definitely a must read if your already invested this far.

It’s getting slightly better. Very creative for his torture and punishments. I felt so bad for her and wasn’t surprised when she broke. She did however change tune very drastically which I felt was unnatural. Like she flipped a switch.

We still hate the MMC. I mean he’s horrible but you can slowly see the change in him… would it be enough for me to turn my head in real life? NOPE. But hypothetically I feel like he was a good guy (with a little heart) brought up in a horrible world.

Also, the Stephanie dreams are weird. Imma say it now that I’d rather that not had happened, it seems too far fetched. I did want more action with the storyline. Not much happened and I was expecting a war. Maybe the next book? Pls?

OMG!! These are absolutely fabulous!! This story keeps me flipping the pages!!

I cannot stress, unless you’re like me and zoom right past the trigger warnings, read them believe them! You Will Break is dark and depraved!!

I am going to jump into the new year reading book 3 of this series!! I’m neck deep in the darkness, watching the shadows dance, and loving every bit of it!

P.S. I absolutely love the inner banter that each of the characters has with their own demons…

I probably would right the full review in third book. Coz I kind of hoping it get better and the Heroin shouldn't fall for Hero . As far as I have read Heroin doesn't seems strong , she never fight back , she never tried to run, also she seems selfish only care about her and the things she endured never shown Empathy towards other girls. Atleast her dead sis was better than her she even tried to free the girls more on she is kind of annoying annoying atleast from where I am seeing and hero is personified psychopath evil reincarnation.
Don't know why he needed to break her she was pretty much broken and kind of accepted her reality and even hero has shown little glimps of care towards aurora when she got humiliated in meeting and got attacked in safe house Just all because she is dreaming about his ex who happend to be her estranged sister he couldnt bear and gave her 7 days of hell. And if now we talking about sister. We don't know who was her mother, why aurora father left her with her abusive mother. And then when she stop sitting in lap for her mother's friend at the age of 8/9 then called mother left her to her father's door step just bcoz she was bad and don't sit in lap anymore. There should have to be an appropriate and complete background about Stepheny and her mother . And there wasn't much past about aroura as well who she grow up with when her father left her with stranger. Well there were many loop holes in this story
There also was lacking character building , no grovelling from h, either
. Plot was promising but couldn't executed well.

Wished aurora has Empathy towards other trafficked girls and for her friends savanna , and hope she aveng for the sake of all trafficked girls. And for f**k sake she should include Bennet also in her killing list though the puppet master was bennet father but bennet was the one who wronged, humiliated raped and tortured her so yes she shouldn't fall for her infect she should kill him if not the try to get him down along with his organisation. Which dissapppontey I am not seeing coming. As she only included his father on her hit list not him and his other ringleader who run the trafficking organisation.

Not as good

As is the first book, it good, but it’s not. This book is filler. Plain and simple. And I hate that. Just write the conclusion to the story. I don’t need filler material. Just get me to the meat of the story. Very disappointing. I can’t bring myself to want to read the last one.

Dark and delicious. Cruelty and heartless. This book has many aspects in this department. The author has created a DARK, DARK world with no rules and the devil in human form. So if dark is not your thing, do NOT buy this book!

I do love dark books, and this ranked right up there. There is no mercy. There is no second chances. Aurora must endure to get what she wants by the end.

I felt so awful and my heart broke for Aurora. She has endured and lasted through all of Bennett’s torture and the end is not in sight. Aurora continues to show her ability to stay strong and not break under the mental abuse of him. I cringed and had to take breaks through parts of this book. This book is one that you feel guilty for loving and enjoying.

This stores need to be read from the prequel to this book. You see the story progress as Bennett and Aurora maneuver this new roller coaster. The emotions throughout this book were high and the constant bad thoughts towards Bennett were thoughts from the first page. He is ruthless and without a heart.

Read this book all of you dark romance lovers!! You won’t regret it!!

I WANT to love this series. I have read the author's other work under a different name and LOVE IT. This was obviously earlier in her writing journey.

Lack of editing is still a big problem in this book.

What really bothers me is the sort of supernatural turn this has taken. Aurora first dreams about Stephanie. That is easily explained because the safe house is a house Bennett shared with Stephanie.

But those "dreams" become more like visions. Aurora becomes almost "possessed" by an alter ego. The alter ego could be explained by certain events but when combined with the visons...its becoming too paranormal. I don't mind that in books when its implemented well but I'm just not liking how its done in this book so far.

The war with Bennett's father is heating up and that is a bit more interesting, as they try to identify traitors amongst their ranks. I suspect it will be a bigger problem going forward.

I will read the next book, since these aren't very long anyway. The plot has the potential to pull me back in but I'm not really enjoying the characters.

Be prepared to stop everything to read this

I started book 2 thinking it couldn't possibly be as dark and delicious as book 1 but boy was I wrong.
I couldn't read this fast enough, longing to find out how Aurora was going to survive the Hell that Bennett was putting her through. As with the first book in the series this would have been a 5 star review but there were too many errors such as a words missing in a sentences and spelling mistakes. I really would have thought a proof reader or editor would have picked them up but it looks like the book was only spell checked as most of the errors were misspellings that made new words ie mile that should have been mine.
I don't want to put anyone off reading this as it really is a good story and definitely worth seeing past the errors. I just wanted to make the author aware of these issues as I know it's a bit of a bugbear to some people.

One song(into the thick of it) kept playing in my mind and I totally blame TikTok but the darkness goes on.I thought I had seen the worse of Bennett in the first book but nothing I mean nothing prepares you for the seven days in hell.
It broke Aurora but I think she only broke into herself or rather evolved into a version more suitable for the devil to deal with him.I cannot blame her though, she was stripped of everything that made her or meant anything to her.She is now fighting the battle ,still hasn't submitted but being smart about it.
And finally the question about her connection with Stephanie has bee solved though it doesn't make sense. Can't wait for the carnage the dark princess and the devil with wreck on this sadistic father that can't just lice without damaging all around him.
How is my mind enjoying all these darkness though?

What a waste of time!

After the first book I had certain expectations for this book, taking into account the reviews I read.

What a nonsense book, the book does not start from the point where we left the previous one, it seems that we have lost a certain progress, several new characters appear without introduction, Brittany is now called Carrie and we are not informed of this change, something happens in the relationship between the protagonists that was not in the last book and is not explained in this one, Aurora talks about the dreams she began to have with Stephanie and their relationship, but it was NEVER addressed how this plot began.

TERRIBLE, TERRIBLE, HORRIBLE!

The worst thing is that this book contains much heavier scenes than from the previous book, which I would normally find positive, but EVERYTHING else is so bad that it obscures this "improvement".

After the prequel and first book I thought I saw Bennett at his worst with Aurora’s torture. Oh how I was wrong!
Aurora suffering through Seven Days of Hell broke my heart. Author’s amazing writing made it like I was right there with Aurora feeling all the pain, despair and need for revenge.
But there is finally a spark of hope in the end and I hope there will be some serious crawling from Bennett in the next book!
The plot and storytelling is amazing and addictive and follow previous book perfectly.
I can’t wait to read the final book but at the same time don’t want this series to end!

Book two only gets darker!!

This is book two in the Rules of Bennett series and after book one I was questioning if Bennett, the anti-hero, cab even be redeemed after what he has already done to Aurora. Book two proves that you haven't seen anything yet, when it comes to what Bennett will do to break Aurora. I look forward to reading book three in this series because so far I'm not finding any redeeming qualities in Bennett Moreno at all. The storyline and characters are fantastic and I'm dying to know what's next.

Book Overall Rating: 2.75/5
Spice Level: 🌶️🌶️🌶️

The series is dark - check your TW before reading. Especially books 1 & 2.

Book 2 review: Aurora starts to get a revenge arc in this book which is a fun ride. Also there’s so much action and it’s being thrown left and right at you. The Stephanie plot story line - didn’t see it coming even though I should have. Fun ride, I’m gonna finish the series even though it’s just a vibe read.

Overall series opinion:

Series overall rating: 2.75/5

Circling back to write reviews now that I’m done with all 4 books. So here’s the thing, I had a pretty good time books 1-3. Was this series great? No. Was it unique and fresh? Eh kinda but it’s mafia romance which isn’t something I read often. Did I have fun? For the most part. Would I read it again? No.

I would probably have ended it at book 3 - book 4 felt unnecessary.

Dangggg

This book keeps me wanting to read more and more and more. I never want this story to end. It captivate you and it keeps you from wanting to do anything else during the day but just sit and read. The villain truly is a broken beast. You want to hate him for all the vile and disgusting things that he does but at the end of the story you can’t help but feel for his broken heart.
I can’t wait for the epic conclusion!!

I AM SO TORN ABOUT THIS BOOK SERIES!!!!

This book absolutly destroyed me 💔

I have to say, some of Aurora's choices doesn't make sense to me. But I'm having high hopes for the third and forth book 🤞

Bennett is just weird af. He feels sorry for Aurora getting "dragged into this", but still does the things he do to her....? Grow a fucking back bone, man.
