Anna del Mar writes hot, smart romances that soothe the soul, challenge the mind, and satisfy the heart. Her stories focus on strong heroines struggling to find their place in the world and the brave, sexy, kickass, military heroes who defy the limits of their broken bodies to protect the women they love. She is the author of The Asset (Carina Press), the first novel of her Wounded Warrior series and three other novels scheduled for release during 2016.
A Georgetown University graduate, Anna enjoys traveling, hiking, skiing, and the sea. Writing is her addiction, her drug of choice, and what she wants to do all the time. The extraordinary men and women she met during her years as a Navy wife inspire the fabulous heroes and heroines at the center of her stories. When she stays put—which doesn’t happen very often—she lives in Florida with her indulgent husband and two very opinionated cats.
Take one gorgeous, world famous supermodel who desperately wants and needs a vacation but has one job to finish first. Add an emotionally tortured, broken, and scarred, wounded warrior, whose best friend and mentor died in his arms two years earlier, a death for which he blames himself. Put him in charge of the photo shoot for the new line of women's active wear for Battle Brothers. Add off-the-charts chemistry between these two characters. Add a nearly successful attempt to kill them both. Add her manipulative and verbally abusive stepfather/manager. Add the fact that someone is not only trying to kill her, but all of the Battleson Brothers, and what do you have? You have Max (Alpha Heroes, #2), the latest steamy, action-packed, romantic suspense novel in Anna del Mar's Alpha Heroes series, and it get 5 stars from this reader.
If you've read the first novel in the Alpha Heroes series, Ajax, (and I recommend that you do) you already know that the Battleson Brothers met each other in juvenile detention at an early age. All had rough starts in life, and were bullied in juvie. Their mutual love of a video game brought them together, and a kindly couple took them in and eventually adopted them all, which is how they became the Battleson Brothers. Eventually, they all joined the military, ending up in various arms of special forces, and when they left the service, they started an uber-successful clothing empire, Battle Brothers, and while that was their public face, it hid their true mission as expert, covert mercenaries who used their military skills to step in and right wrongs when other channels failed, and in doing so, they made enemies, lots of enemies, most notably one they refer to as Zero Tango, who clearly wants to end them and put an end to their covert operations permanently. But who is this elusive enemy? How does he manage to get past their top-notch defenses? And where and who will he attack next? You're going to have to start reading this series because I don't do spoilers.
While this novel is, at its heart, the story of Max and Lexi, the wounded warrior and the ill-treated supermodel, it's also about their coming to terms with their own lives--ferreting out their own secrets and desires, and finding things in each other and in themselves that both characters need to admit to and face head-on. It makes for one heck of an exciting, emotional read, and is a great follow-up to the first novel in this series. I'm already looking forward to Ms. del Mar's next Alpha Heroes novel, and I have a strong suspicion that you'll feel the same way about this novel and this series. I highly recommend it.
This is the second book in the Alpha Heroes series and I enjoyed this just as much as, if not more than, book one. Max is a broken man. He doesn't care if he lives or dies, and he regularly dices with death. He's been like this since losing his brother, and it's only when he meets supermodel Lexi that finally someone is able to cut through his gruff, cold exterior to see the man that lies underneath. The man who lives in constant pain, the man who doesn't think he deserves to be happy. Deserves to be loved.
Lexi is a world famous supermodel, but her life is controlled by everyone else and she's never been able to do what she wants to. She's never been allowed to dream of living a life of her own choosing, so when she meets Max and his brothers, who all seem to see through the celebrity facade, she's intrigued. He leaves her wanting to break away from her controlling stepfather/manager who sees her as nothing but a meal ticket to fulfil the secret she's kept hidden for so long. But will Max let her in? Can two people who hide their true selves away from the world save each other? A thrilling romantic suspense that will leave you unable to put it down until you reach the end.
Max is the youngest of the Battleson brothers and the most scarred, physically at least. He has hidden behind his computers and his searches waiting to die. He blamed himself for his brother Leo's death, even though it was an ID that destroyed Leo and parts of Max. When the Battle Brothers decide to hold a new type of photo shoot for their BB line, a world-famous supermodel with a long list of demands is hired. Max is charged with coordinating the logistics and dealing with the models, and he is not happy about it. He does his job and finds that the supermodel, known as Alexandra (with a capital X), is actually nice and refers to herself as Lexi. Veering off into implausibility, they give in to their attraction. A series of threatening incidents plague Lexi and the brothers take on her protection. They are also still seeking the big threat that began attempts on their lives in Jax's story. Threats still continue, but a fairy godmother-matchmaker is working on them. More to come.
MAX this was an unusual one. I thought given Max's scars and ptsd, we were going to get a gut wrenching storyline. but instead I got an almost beauty and the beast story......military suspense style. there was plenty of angst and suspense but it mingled beautifully with an alpha in vulnerable mode. I am so enjoying the descriptions written by Ms Del Mar....its just wonderful to hear different words. while I don't mind Guillaumes tone I can't help but wonder what a duo narrating these stories would be like. not as much internal dialogue as with ajaxs story but lexie was one tough cookie. her and Em will make greats mates. this Tee lady is pretty awesome, it's surprisingly refreshing to have a woman controlling a bunch of alphas..lol.
This is the first time I have read anything by Anna del Mar and I really liked this series. Each book is about a different man who had a terrible childhood and ended up in child detention together where they formed a bond. They ended up being lucky and being adopted by the same amazing couple and all became brothers. All of the different brothers go into different branches of the military and become receive high positions like Navy Seal. Once they come back they create a company where they are able to sell products that they thought of while on tour but behind that company they are also a group that works to help still defend the good and our country. Each book contains a romance for each of these men who believe they are to hard to deserve love.
Max & Lexi : triggers- verbal abuse, body dysmorphia, stalking, survivors guilt. I liked this one better than the first book. Max is the one brother who doesn't have medical clearance so hasn't been able to go out in the field. He's dealing with survivors' guilt after their brother died so he does things to get his heart racing and adrenaline pumping. Lexi is a famous model, hired by the brothers for their company. When they meet there's instant chemistry that has the pages of the book burning. But soon we find that once again, there's trouble in paradise. Someone is trying to kill either Max, Lexi or both. Great story with an awesome plot twist.
I would give this a 4 3/4 star rating if such were possible, only because to fully enjoy it you have to take a small leap out of reality and land in 'Alpha Hero Land' and that isn't always so easy to do. Some of us readers are a little more based in reality and the transition feels fake. But there is great character development, lots of action, suspense and super hot spice that is perfectly choreographed in the bedroom which all adds up to pure entertainment. I am definitely going to be reading more in this series.
I’ve devoured this series and loved them all but I think Max and Lexi are my favorite couple ( and I love them all). They all have pasts that they need to face and overcome but I think Max has the most to work through. There are so many twists and turns that you will be on the edge of your seat. Unable to put this book down. I highly recommend this book
I really loved reading this book. I loved Max and Lexi. Max is one of the Battleson Brothers, they are former military. This has twists, drama, action, lust, love❤, romance, and so much more. There is so much spark and Hot🔥 Hot🔥steamy sex scenes between the two of them. Read it for yourself!
So much to unpack in Max and it's all great. There's fast paced action. The intrigue factor is once again upped as Zero Tango seemingly uncanny ability to stay one step ahead of the brothers while continuing to wreak havoc with their lives. Add in white hot chemistry between Max and Alex and you've got some fabulous reading in store.
I loved this one. Can’t wait for next book. I will say the author loves to use to worked “sneaked” out. A lot they used it in first book & this one a few time & it was in past tense form when it should of been used as snuck out. Or maybe they could of worded the sentence better because it didn’t match up with what was being said & what was going on. But other all I loved the book.
This romantic suspense story is as perfect as Disney’s Beauty and the Beast. The way Anna Del Mar describes everything will amaze you to keep reading and not wanting it to end. When it does, you can’t wait to start on the next book. I am really looking forward to see who Troy ends up with. 5 Stars
I loved this book. I loved Max and Lexi. I really wanted more revenge on her stepfather. I can't wait for the rest of the books to see what happens. I highly recommend both books they are fast paced and exciting.
Has a lot of danger, suspense, action and romance keeps you turning the pages to see what happens next.looking forward to more books from this author thrilling and sacrifice and romance.
The Brothers Battleson have many businesses but more behind the scenes. Photo shoots for a fashion line and attacks against the model and the wounded warrior. I picked up this book, read about Max and Lexi, and now own 2 more books of this series (and preordered a third book). Bravo!
Wow this book is as good as the first one the tears for the wounded soldier the laughs you will have when he finds his girlfriend the love they will share and the action of bad guys trying to tear them and their friends and family apart
Absolutely loved this book and the characters. So much plot that you can really sink your teeth into. Romance, steam, fluff and action. Definitely going to get the next one and read the first book in the series.
Another great book from this author. Great characters and storyline that Grabs you from the start and keep you interesting until the very end. Each book could be read Separate As a stand alone book But if you read them an order you you'll enjoy them a lot more.
I'm enjoying this fun series. The characters are especially enjoyable; great alpha heroes paired with smart, feisty women. Who could ask for better escapism? I'll be reading more from this author. Dianne McCartney, author of The Daughter of Death and others

Another great book in this series! I couldn't stop reading and had to finish the story, even though it was way past bedtime, and I knew I was going to be tired tomorrow. It was definitely worth the lost sleep!
Another excellent adventure with the Battleson brothers. Just as surprising and exciting as the first book in the series. I'm now waiting with bated breath for Troy's story to be released!
