While investigating the kidnapping of an actor’s child, Broch suspects a woman at the scene is the beauty who’s been haunting his dreams. Worried his reoccurring fantasies are memories of a former life in nineteenth-century Scotland, he vows to discover if the mysterious Fiona is his true love.
Catriona is left confused by both her step-father’s dramatic recount of her appearance in his life and her time-traveling Highlander’s waning affections. She devotes herself to the case — only to discover her romantic rival might hold the key to her own mysterious past.

Catriona & Broch investigate the kidnapping of an actors child, meanwhile, the actors wife is murdered. Broch suspects a woman he may have known from the mid 1800's. And Catriona learns she really may be a time jumper herself. Also that she may have someone chasing her from the very distant past.
This is a cute romance story that has equal parts of mystery and suspense in it. Solid characters and several twist that keep the main characters unbalanced throughout the story.
To quote me from the review of the first book: “…["Kilty As Charged"] was super fun….” So I’m excited to have downloaded the 3 book-set from Amazon Unlimited to read the next two books in the series. Did it live up to the last book? Or did it have the dreaded sophomore blues? Read on to find out!
This second book is exactly like the first one, in that I started reading it and before I knew it I was 1/3 of the way through the book! It reads fast; is funny to boot, and the character interactions are spot on.
The mystery doesn’t start until the end of chapter nine, but that was OK, and the only reason I stopped reading at chapter 10 was that I forgot to bring a charger and my iPad mini died.
I did have issues re-starting this series after a long wait from the first book, but it really didn’t take long to re-orient myself with the series and the goings-on. In this book, I find out what happened all those years ago when Cat first came into Sean’s world. And I learn something about Cat that shows a connection between her, Sean and Broch.
In this story, an actor’s son has been kidnapped and Broch dreams of the past which includes the actor’s girlfriend as a past lover. So stories going on at once, and except for one chapter that I breezed over (the dance scene did nothing for the plot,) it was an addictive read.
I am so happy I got to continue this series. I can read a book of this length in one day when it reads this fast! Bravo to Ms. Vansant once again!
I loved Kilty as Charged, Book 1 in this series. But I really LOVED Kilty Conscience. In this book we continue to follow the 3 main characters: Catriona, Sean her adopted father and Kilty (aka Brochan/ Broch) his long (from the 18th century) lost son. They all are time travelers but Catriona doesn't have any memory of living in the past. Cat is a strong willed, independent women but in this book we see a jealous side of her. She's jealous that Sean seems to be paying more attention to Broch now that he has shown up. She's also jealous of Fiona - a woman that Broch seems to be connecting with. Kilty is the most charming character that I've read in a while. He seems to be a kid in an adult body and it is a joy to watch him as he discovers all the modern conveniences from horseless carriages, to hot showers, to car services... He is a genuinely lovable character and as his memories return you hope that he finds true love. This is one series where you need to read them in order to get the full effect of the story plus, each book leaves you hanging for the next. I can't wait for Book 3.
I received a free copy from the author via AXP; this is my honest review. If you haven't read the first book yet I recommend you do because there is a lot of information in there; it's a great book too so you won't waste your time! There is a bit of everything in this one: suspense, mystery, happiness, sadness, regrets; it's also funny with some sappy moments. The main characters (Kilty and Catriona, but also Sean and Luther) all evolved from the first book. For example, Kilty knows more about our time and how to use our gadgets, like calling a car service from his phone. The action and adventure gets you going from the first pages and don't let go until the end. It's not a cliffhanger per se, only a nice prologue to the next story, which will begin again where the last story left off. The mystery keeps you guessing too to the max. There are so many details in there that you'll never guess but it will not be improbable when you think about it. Loved the twist at the end - we're not finished yet! Kudos to the author and the editor!
This 2nd book in the Kilty Series, Kilty Conscience was even better then book #1. I enjoyed this fun romance even more since Brochan/Broch was way easier to understand and I got to enjoy the story without re-reading parts. This book had such a sweet ending between Broch and Catrina that I Loved. This is a great read without chapters and chapters of Sex, it is All Story with no sex filler chapters and no nasty language. There is cozy-mystery style murder and suspense with a touch of time travel. Kilty as Charged (Book #1) was really good too with the back information and you might want to read it 1st, but you won't be lost if you don't. As someone else mentioned there is not a cliffhanger, but the last chapter leads into the next book. Just a teaser though not a cliffhanger.
I was given an ARC copy to read and review, if I chose to do so. I was not compensated in any way for this review.
Catriona’s boss, Sean has asked her to train Broch to work with her as a fixer for Parasol Pictures. This would be a challenge under normal conditions and the current conditions are far from normal. Cat has to teach him not only what a Fixer’s responsibilities are, but also how to live in the 21st century.
While they are dining at a fancy restaurant, Sean receives a call from one of the Parasol Pictures' actors. Sean learns that the actor's son has been kidnapped.
Who would take a young boy from his family? What do they intend to do with the boy? WIll they harm him? What are the kidnappers hoping to gain? It is up to Catriona and Broch to find the boy before it's too late.
I received a copy of this book from the author, but the review is entirely my own.
I voluntarily received and exclusive copy of this book for free for review. If you have not read the first book of this series "Kilty as charged" you will want to grab yourself a copy before going into this book, as it picks up right where that one ends. Jamie Frazer has nothing on Brochan, as Broch is from the 18th Century come to the the current Century. This book is a little more serious than the first one. However; Broch's demeanor will rock you, his accent will sleigh you and of course you can not forget our one and only Catriona. She's a spit fire for sure and loves to mess with Broch and his accent, as well as his "Manly" behavior. So what are you waiting for, grab the first book, then hop on over and grab this one and get to laughing, its awesome :-)
Catriona & Broch are back! Broch is settling into his new modern life, especially hot showers! When he and Cat get embroiled in the search for an actors young son, he begins to have strange dreams where he is running after a woman who looks like Cat but seems to be called Fiona. Now troubled by flashbacks to his previous life, he is fearful that his pursuit of Cat may need to be halted due to his feeling that this other woman meant something to him - he may even be married!
Cat is also in for a bit of a shock when she learns that she was a bit of a time jumper herself, when she was a child! Lots of fun and frolics mixed in with a good suspenseful story. Fiona is not all that she appears and there are lots more family reveals for Cat to deal with!
Confusion, Kidnapping, Corruption - All Sorts of Crazy Fun- And a Catriona Cliffhanger!
More fun and mayhem, kidnapping, and murder!
Which of these crazy studio folks is just background, and who all are travelers thru time?
It would explain the flurry of highlander movies and romances!
Confused connections of love and romance are worked out across time.
Will Broch, Sean and Catriona be able to enjoy lives together or will they be repeatedly separated by time and the troubles that come to them again and again?
I received a free advance copy, and am voluntarily offering my review.
I can't wait to hear more about this humorous time trekking tale!
I received this book from the author as an ARC gift ....and am I ever glad I did.... Introduced to this author via another of her series, this one intrigued me, and when I picked it up I could not put it down.. causing me to lose sleep and keep my grumpy husband awake with laughing. JUST the kind of story you love to read , as a break from mundane every day. One warning - its the second part of three (so far) and they will want to be read back to back. They fit together seamlessly, but can also stand alone. I'm a big fan of this author, her characters are quite realistic and the story line keeps you interested ;-)
You see a half-clad Highlander on the cover and what do you expect? Mmmmm, romance! But this one will have you hopping through the centuries to unravel the mysteries of Fiona, Catriona, and Broch. Plus figuring out a few movie-set related crimes. Does this book stand alone? Well the instant issues are resolved and there are no unsolved cases but the overall story arc is best served by beginning with book 1 and reading sequentially. I'm thumbing the next book into my Kindle as I type!
Kilty Conscience: Passion. Intrigue. Poofy Dresses. by Amy Vansant is a comedic murder mystery. As with all of her books, I get so wrapped up in the characters and the twisty plots, that the humor catches me off guard. And then I laugh and laugh, until I remember that someone was kidnapped or has a gun. It really is always such a wonderful journey. I loved it so much. Time travel at its very finest.
I really enjoyed this book, and cannot wait for the next one to come out! I liked the first one in this series, but this one far surpassed it. I'm in love with Brochan and Catriona, and am excited to see how things turn out for them.
This book had me guessing at every turn of the page, and there were a lot of little cliff hangers that kept me reading to get more info!
If I could give this book 7 stars, I would! Bravo, Ms. Vansant!
Amy Vansant is an intriguing author. Her books are fast paced and well written with fascinating characters. A little suspense, a little romance, all with a dash of humor.
I have enjoyed these books immensely and am looking forward to the next one, which I intend to read immediately.
Empowered the time travel essence of this suspense as Broch and Cat discover they're connection. While Brooch has an idea, Cat is still discovering it. Great read.
I can't take the time to tell you how great this book is.You'll have to find out for yourself. But start with book 1, Kilty as Charged. I have to start the next one asap!!
While it is a bit of a head ache to interpret Broch’s language, it’s still an excellent book that will have you laughing, yelling at Broch for his stupidity and cheering on Catriona because she’s one awesome lady!
Just finished the first and second book in one day. Stephanie Plum move over and make room for a sister of the heart. Fun theme, smart dialogue, and strong characters. What could be better on a rainy Saturday afternoon?
This story just gets better. I'm not a "book boyfriend" type of girl but if I were, I would definitely have a big-time crush. I love this author's writing style and will continue this series for more!
I received this book as an ARC and am voluntarily providing an honest review.
I enjoy this series. Broch and Cat are great characters. I enjoy their banter. There is a mystery if a kidnapped child, and Broch has dreams about a woman he lived in his past. There are surprises and twists in the plot.
Can't get enough of these books! I have bought the first two. Now going to start third. I know I will re-read this series and can't wait to show my daughter ! She will be reading before I finish. Can't wait to start third!!!
The first book was so much funnier. Getting acquainted with the characters in the book. There was some funny parts. Good story line. I didn't figure Fiona was a sister. Boy there are many time jumpers in this book.
Enjoyable series. Hollywood, time travelers, murder, kidnapping, kilts, sword play, intriguing cliffhanger, l what more could you want? This is an older series so don't have to wait for the next book. Recommend!
