Can he use his newfound powers to help Konstantin “the Wolf” Volk, the dangerous and mysterious Nomad, and the witch, Gaia, to stop the destruction of all vampires by the coven leader Rachel?
If Lucas does, he’ll have to convince the Nomad that he is not a threat to Konstantin. While Konstantin wants only to protect his very new and special fledgling from the dangers that Lucas wants to help him face.
A great, action packed ending to a serial I wasn't too sure I was going to love when I first started it. Loved the non-stop twists and turns, LOVED the characters and the fabulous world building.
I’ve just read the whole series back to back. And I’m annoyed with myself for not liking this more. I mean it’s an M/M vampire book. How could I not love it? But I didn’t. Although I didn’t really dislike it either. But more on that later.
The short novellas annoyed me. But why? I made sure the series was complete (or not open ended at any rate) before starting. I moved straight onto one from the other. So for all intents and purposes I was reading one book.
I will say if you’re not on KU then there’s such a huge catch-up at the front of each book. That you really only need to read this the final one. The catch-up is 8% of the book. The good thing about this is that the book itself isn’t always backtracking and explaining who each person is. So that’s a huge plus.
There’s an interesting story here as well but still I found myself skimming each book. The to and fro between the main two characters seemed to go on forever. And we all knew how it was going to end anyway.
So it’s wasn’t bad but it wasn’t the book/series I’d expected.
And honestly I’m assuming it’s me because the reviews are so good. Which is why I’m so annoyed that I didn’t like it more.
Wow! This was like an action packed movie. More stuff is revealed and the final battle is taking place between the witches and the vampires. Baddies get their comeuppance and the good guys get justice. A nice end to the series...though hopefully we'll get more of them in the future.
This has been a great and addicting series.
I have to say, though I was not a fan of Claire and how she treated Lucas in previous books, I have to wonder if some of that was from losing her first husband and Garrett swooped in to take care of her. I feel like her mind wasn't right even then...some brainwashing maybe? But . I was hoping for a different outcome there...some type of reconciliation. But, alas, it was not meant to be.
This book series was FANTASTIC!!!!! I loved the romance and trust between Lucas and Konstantin and how the relationship turned between Konstantin and the Nomad, they even learned to finally trust a witch. Very interesting and entertaining series and one I will put aside as a re-read in the future. ;-D
Honestly the story here is very good, but I hated the writing style. I’ve come to learn that too many exclamation marks and too many “she cried!/he cried!” drive me insaaaaaane
The las two books are specially intense and action filled, and their were some twist that I totally loved.
Un general, is a series I liked, but the format in which is published has its ups and downs. I didn't have a problem with the cliffhangers since I started reading this when it was already completed (lucky me), but I believe some parts are longer than they should be in comparison with others. Which means that I would have preferred the things that happen in the two-three last books to have had more time to develop and to deepen in them, while I would have shorten other ones in which doesn't happen that much.
But overall this was real good.
The Nomas was my most favorite character and I would have loved to see more of him, to know more about his background and origins. Demons don't appear much in this series, just at the end, and I would have liked to discover more: what do that do in this world? How do they live? There are many questions I wouldn't mind having the answer to.
I particularly loved that the author didn't mind blurring characters between good and evil. Most of times, the good ones are good and the evil ones are just evil, but here sometimes those who are good and the reader liked end up doing the wrong and getting a bad ending. This make everything a lot more interesting.
I real really happy to have discovered this series, and the author. Definitely going to read more of his/hers works.
Great ending! Great action! Loved every minute of this book. I hate that this is the end. I wonder if we could get more of Lucas growing into his powers?? That would be another great series.
This was a great conclusion to the series! I have nothing to say about the series that I haven't already, but this one wrapped things up nicely, and I found the found family aspect to be especially sweet. Overall a great serial series with vampires, witches, complex relationship dynamics, sweet romance, drama, and an interesting story!

This is my rating and review for the entire series of 7 books. This is really one very long book. I’m not complaining about that, because I loved it.
But I do have a big complaint. The way Lucas acted through out the book was annoying, but the way he acted after his change was downright ridiculous. When all the real action started he put a real damper on my enjoyment by becoming a whiny drama queen. He hesitated killing the people who not only hated him with all their being, but planned to kill all the vampires including Kostaintin. This didn’t make any sense and was so frustrating I almost walked away without finishing. I stuck with it and loved the ending so I couldn’t lower my rating.
This was an amazing end to the series. I am actually a little sad now. It was great going on this journey and meeting many great characters. The story overall was very good and exciting and I am happy I decided to pic this up. I am definitely going to read more of the author.
I still enjoyed this one, but despite being the conclusion it was one of my least favorites. Everything is tied up quite nicely, but the author uses a trope I hate, wherein the "chosen one" has a frankly obscene amount of power and basically dues ex machinas the whole showdown. I just find it both lazy storytelling and boring as a reader, and it made the climax of the entire series feel pretty meh because there just weren't any actual stakes. Overall I enjoyed this series, which I think was mostly down to it being the right story for my mood because there is plenty I could pick apart. Tentatively curious about their others works but I have a feeling my tolerance is going to decrease the more I read.
Exciting! The thrilling conclusion to this magical series riddled with magic, mayhem and love. I loved the ending even if it was bittersweet to see the series send. But well worth it!
I am not really a fan of serials as I am not a big on cliff hangers and well waiting. So I read all the books back 2 back and I have to say I enjoyed them. I did have a few issues but I am not going to dwell and have decided to just think about the good ☺ I really liked all the twists and turns. I loved all the vampire characters they were like a big family which I loved and I LOVED the whole Nomad thing which I guessed very early on ♥
I read all 7 books in 2 days. I couldn't put this series down. A well written love story and steamy sex with vampires and witches and what happens when their worlds collide. If I could bribe this author to write more of these books I would.
This episode did a great job wrapping up all the storylines and bringing the series to a satisfying conclusion. The action scenes were suspenseful and had me holding my breath imparts. It was a true thrill watching Lucas come into his powers and struggle with his morals in what they had to do.
Lucas and Konstantin’s relationship as well as all the chosen family relationships and the relationships that develop between parental figures and their offspring are a great read and send some wonderful messages. Though I have to say I wish the term “childe” wasn’t used nor the comparison to fathers and grandfather as that really made the Lucas/Konstantin sexual relationship feel squicky!
The writing and the story construction improved dramatically over the course of the serial. I’d love to see the first couple books edited to match the skill demonstrated in the last couple and then all seven woven together into one cohesive compelling novel now that the series is done.
X. Aratare aka Raythe Reign is truly one of the most gifted authors in the LGBT MM paranormal genre. I have never read any work of hers that has not been spot on brilliant. This is the last book in this seven book series and the conclusion will have you sitting on the edge of your seat.
The story is about a young man, Lucas, seeking a job...any job, in order to get away from his dysfunctional home environment. He is somehow able to enter a vampire club (which he should not have been able to even see) and ultimately meets the club owner, the vampire Konstantin who is instantly drawn to the human. A heartwarming and passionate seven volume adventure and love story begins. It’s a beautiful story. The author has an ability to draw her readers into the story and gives a vivid mind’s eye description of the characters and their world. The series will make you cry but also laugh and smile. It concludes with a delightful and satisfying HEA but I will always want more of these characters. The books are also quite well voice-acted on audible.com.
The author has a wonderful website www.raythereign.com featuring the most amazing web series which includes elves, witches, shifters, vampires and mer-people. Of the 200 plus authors that I have read who write in the LGBT genre, X. Aratare/Raythe Reign stays in touch with her readers more than any other author. She requests and responds to comments on her series. She even regularly hosts a weekly broadcast and interaction with fans where she reads her work. Amazingly she is quite humble but her very devoted fans have coerced her to read her work on Facebook as well as continue to write these remarkable stories. All this AND she has a full time job as an attorney and finds time for her family. I’m convinced she is possibly an elf (?) or cyborg (?). Just someone who needs little sleep and can do several things at once.
What is it about vampires that so many people find so alluring? They’re sexy, powerful, and mysterious, but also dangerous killers. And yet, we gobble up stories about them. Romanticize them. Dream about them. I gotta admit, I’m no different. I love stories about vampires – for all those reasons. They’re the ultimate bad boy.
That said, it can be difficult to find ones that are readable, let alone actually good. Especially in the m/m genre. I’ve read a ton of them, but most of them are average. I loved this one though!
Was it perfect? No. Some issues here and there, but overall very readable. A word of warning. Every book ends on a cliffhanger, but the series is complete and all are available so have no fear. It's a fated/soul mates story, so there is that note insta-attraction/love there, but it’s written in such a way that it bother me in the slightest. I often forgot it occurred in about a week's time.
Favorite quote:
“When a good man loves you, he will break any rule to protect you. When a bad man loves you, there are no rules.” ~ Lucas
There were so many quotes and scenes that I loved, but with 7 books and 900+ pages, I'd be citing forever. If you like vampires, it was well worth the read for me.
The review of this book is really more of a series review. The first few books of the series were interesting in the world building, but there was very limited information given in each book. I enjoyed them but was a little frustrated waiting for the story to go somewhere, to discover who the true antagonist was going to be. Having listened to all the books instead of reading them, the narrator change was only a tad inconvenient. I thought both narrators had good voices but a few pronunciation differences did make me grumble a little. The last two books though is really where the story was flushed out and I really loved them. Lucas coming into his own with his powers was awesome, and though I correctly suspected that the Nomad played another role in the story it was nice to have it confirmed. Now that all the books are released, I definitely recommend the series. I don't mind cliffhangers or open endings knowing that my patience will eventually be rewarded but there was a book or two that felt like pointless filler.
It did not matter that it was M/M Romance. ( My favorite next to Yaoi)...because the series itself was so darn good! I seriously was up late many nights just trying to get to the next book but then I'd start the next one and have trouble putting it done. The only way I put it down was to fall asleep late at night/wee morning hours with the phone sliding off me with the Kindle still up when I woke up. I do not want to give any of this story away but it is a beautiful love story between 2 of the main characters, as well as the love of their "family" and friends. Along the way you will run into a host of people willing to try to break the 2 main character's various relationships. These 7 stories are so enjoyable. I highly recommend it. If you like a lot of description when talking about M/M sex. This does disappoint there either. I have find I am now searching more X. Aratare books. This is my second series (I did the Mer series) and I am reading RaytheReign.com. Read this series!!!
This was a really good story, although hastily closed out in a way. But one thing that bothered me throughout the entire series was… how did Claire even meet Garret in the first place when Lucas said they moved from the Midwest or the west coast or something to Milton, where Garrett was already the sheriff and his father was the Judge of the small town? They were struggling to make ends meet so she couldn’t have traveled there and then what business did he have to be where she and Lucas lived before?
The Garrett/Claire/Judge ending was lacking to me and seemed to be the rushed part, like they were an afterthought… well mostly the judge but the ending for the aftermath of Garrett ad Claire is what I mean.
Anyway, everyone got their just due in the end. I was finally confirmed of who Xavier really was in this book! So many hints and clues throughout!
See my notes highlights and commentary on Goodreads. Happy reading!
I must confess I usually hate cliffhangers but the way this is written made it much different from most and so intriguing. I also had most of the surprises figured out by the middle of the second book. That did NOT detract from the excitement of finding out who, what, when and where! The entire story is well written and I loved the flow of the story. Seeing Konstantin struggle with his curse as well as having a human stumble into his protected club/home in the form of Lucas starts things off with a bang. It only gets better and more intriguing as the full story unfolds. The support characters all have great stories as well and the friends of Konstantin are the best! I am just glad I found this in my recommendations!
Well we are at the final phase of Konstantin and Lucas’ story and I am sad to see it end. If you have read book 6 then you know that Lucas and Konstantin were gearing up for a war. Lucas has now been turned in Book 7 and part of their enemies have taken over Dyavol, Konstantin’s club. The other part of the enemies are sitting up traps. This book is full of questions being answered and so much action. It kept me reading to the very end. This book ended the series perfectly. *Triggers include: Death, gore, rape off screen but you see the aftermath, manipulation and betrayal. If any of these bother you in any way you may want to reconsider reading or read with caution. This book gets a 5 star ⭐️ rating from me. 💜❤️
