A long time ago I was born in Los Angeles. That's where I spent many of my formative years. After I became an adult, I moved around for a bit before ending up in a small town in Oregon, very similar to Bailey's hometown. Greenhearth is fake, if you haven't already Googled that, but it's like many small towns with less than 1,000 people.
My pets... I love animals, especially my two even if they do create havoc in my daily life. I have a cat, named Snowstorm, Storm for short. Then I have a rescue, Josephine. She's a Labradoodle - I think. It's hard to say but it's the best I can come up with.
What I'm working on... I'm already working on the next book in the series - was working on it before Bad Attitude came back from editing. And now that it has released, need to stay on track with A Bit Aggressive.

The writing style of this was weirdly formal and in the third person POV but yet, almost not. Hard to explain but it distracted me from the story and I just couldn't do it, which is sad because it had a promising premise. Normally third person doesn't bother me at all but this almost felt even further away from third person. Is there a fourth person? LOL, either way, just didn't mesh well with me right now.
I was a bit hesitant at first given how much the book blurb talks about marriage and such like things but with a title like Bad Attitude I just had to give it a try anyway.
It was a good thing that I did. So far this series has been a quite fun read. Yes there is the you-have-to-marry-at-the-age-of-25 nonsense and just to add to that rubbish the second main character is a wizard chased by a bunch of lunatic witches who wants to make babies with him.
Luckily this crap is, over the course of the books, turned more or less into a background story and even in the first book it is rapidly overshadowed by the main protagonist and her, you guessed it, bad attitude.
I really like the main protagonist. She is kickass all the way and boy does she have a mouth. I’ve always liked book that doesn’t try to cater for the easily offended hypocrites that rates down books and movies based on whether there’s so called “rude” language or not.
Sure, if the author just piles on f-words without any skill behind it, then I give it a pass as well. Luckily this is not the case. The dialogue is often times very funny to read and the fact that Bailey backs up her verbal attitude with some real ass-kicking skills from the first page just makes it so more enjoyable.
Already from the start, Bailey knows how to take care of herself and her powers grows rather exponentially over the course of the story. There are obviously quite a few fights in the books and, being born in Sweden, I quite like the fact that there’s quite a bit of Norse mythology added into the story.
I’m currently reading the fourth book in the series and are indeed looking forward to see where the author takes the story.
One of the things I like most about Kindle Unlimited is the occasional surprise. I borrowed a book with over 230 reviews and scanning the 'you might also like' list, saw one with zero reviews. The blurb look interesting with a mix of changelings and magic, so, liking both and knowing I could take a chance without risk, I did.
With a Sunday free of responsibility, I started this offering in the morning ... and didn't stop till I finished in mid afternoon. A relaxing winter day well spent with an enjoyable read. In Kindle speak, it turned out to be a real screen swiper. 😃
The author didn't waste a lot of time describing in boring detail the physical attributes or clothing of the various characters, but just enough to set them in my mind. I was grateful for the limited 'fluff' while keeping the flow of the story moving. The story moved fast, while not so much it was nothing more than a series of action scenes or boring relationship drama. Just enough of both to keep me interested.
I'm already anticipating the next episode. A solid five stars.
I liked this book! It had a couple minor pacing issues, a couple weirdly out of place descriptions, but mostly minor distractions. Editing was spot on, no mispellings or bad punctuation. The story: omg! The action was nonstop! I adore our hera; Bailey. She's a badass, fixes her own cars, defeats several bullies at once, and won't take crap from anyone. At the same time, she is kindhearted to those she finds deserving, loves her family, and detests folks who pick on others. I'd say her alignment is chaotic good as she takes laws as suggestions for behavior rather than firm guidelines, but never fails to help others in need. Her "boyfriend" is the real deal but has his own issues in the form of 3 wannabe babymama witches. Neither will settle for an arranged or forced marriage. Trouble magnets, both of them. I can't wait to see what happens next!
The main two characters are a forced partnership, start of a relationship. Very similar to other slow burn relationship urban fantasy but with a rural, female werewolf as the hero and city slicker magician as a potential partner. A little bit of mystery and a little bit of mayhem and a little bit of magic combines to some potential. The biggest drawback to me is that it read like a young adult novel with semi-adult situations. Characters in their 20s acting like 18 year olds that don't want to grow up. Overall, it was fun enough that i will read the next book or 2 to see where the characters are heading.
Pro: - Blurb Cons: - There is no clear perspective from which the story is told. Sometimes it's third person, sometimes it wants to be first person but misses the mark. - The plot is boring, all of the interesting points are in the blurb. - Lack of world building - Lack of character development - No emotional connection to the characters at all, I honestly didn't care what happened. Conclusion: There's absolutely no reason to read anything else by this author.
A decent book, if a bit simple, but it rolls on, into a movie type car chase that keeps the reader quickly turning pages. Fun characters, 2 strangers from different worlds, both being chased, end up in an action filled book. Yes, it’s a first in a series so the beginning is a touch slow as it introduces each person, but it amps up the speed and action before you get bored. Looking forward to the next.
Sophomoric writing. The dialog was hard to slog through. I almost didn't finish this one because it was so poorly written. I hope the author keeps trying and has found a good editor and beta readers for constructive feedback. I don't think I'll read on to find out if later books are better
I really trying to like this book I almost read the whole thing
It's just not that exciting I'm giving up at 70% read and I'm not going to finish I'm just going to look for another book. Sorry. I don't know what the book is missing
For the first time since I started reviewing the books I read, I'm really not sure what to think, or really to say, of this book.
The main character, Bailey, is part of a Were community, and has almost turned 25 years old. This age is important to the story, as, by that age, Were women have to be married, or partnered, and preferably with children on the way.
I wasn't quite sure why such a fuss was being made, or why Bailey was being hassled by so many men, from the surrounding Packs, until it was explained later on in the story.
Bailey, and her three youn ppget brothers, all still live at home, and are rather rough and ready, but Bailey is written as a rather kick*ass woman, who fights and swears as hard as her brothers, and is fighting being paired off.
Roland, a Wizard with extra special powers, comes into the picture, as he helps Bailey fight off a gang of Weres, from a rich family in the town, who gets away with everything.
It seems that Roland, too, is on the run, but from three witches who are determined to use him to get pregnant, as they are convinced that any child of his will be a prodigy.
The writing style of the book, doesn't seem to know whether it wants to tell the story in third person, or some other style that I'm not sure of. But I'm very sure that, although there are things I do like about this book, it still hasn't grabbed me, like I'd hoped it would.
Now, I AM going on to Book Two: 'A Bit Aggressive', as I do try to continue reading a series, once I've started it, but I'm really hoping that the characters actually start to act their ages, and that the outline of the story improves, along with the overall plotline, that I'm SO hoping will get better.
Like I said, there's just enough food in the story to keep me reading, but I'm not very impressed right now.
So, once I've finished 'A Bit Aggressive', which I'm really hoping will have improved, I'll catch you on the flipside, to let you know what I think about it!
(FYI I tend to only review one book per series, unless I completely change my mind on a series, so want to change my scoring down a lot. -- I tend not to read reviews until after I read a book, so I go in with an open mind.)
First time read the author's work?: No
Will you be reading more?: Not of this series.
Would you recommend?: No, not this book.
------------ How I rate Stars: 5* = I loved (must read all I can find by the author) 4* = I really enjoyed (got to read all the series and try other books by the author). 3* = I enjoyed (I will continue to read the series) or 3* = Good book just not my thing (I realised I don't like the genre or picked up a kids book to review in error.)
All of the above scores means I would recommend them! - 2* = it was okay (I might give the next book in the series a try, to see if that was better IMHO.) 1* = Disliked
Note: adding these basic 'reviews' after finding out that some people see the stars differently than I do - hoping this clarifies how I feel about the book. :-)
first book in series-more to come i hope-Hold on ! this is a twisty, topsy-turvey ride of adventure. an arranged wedding if your 25???? what is this the 1800's??? Our girl is a pistal! she has found a new partner, both have the same issues-sorta-a bunch of interfearing busy bodies, that want them to do .... somthing , mostly against their wills. They saved the day , plots within a plots friends, allies, frenemies and flat out enemies. a must read.
I have to say I nearly put this book down. The characters seemed one dimensional--more caricatures than actual people. Reactions were not believable and the story took a while to get moving. The crazy is more crazy than humorous. Things picked up in the middle and I was impressed by the way the two listened to and supported one another in the big battle. I consider them two-dimensional now and have hope things might continue to improve in the next book.
The story itself was intriguing with a different sort of premise. He MCs were fun as were several of the secondary characters. But dear lord does the writing need help! A good editor could probably make this a much better book. It would likely be better served being a dual POV style. And who the hell refers to one of the MCs as “the girl” repeatedly?! Not sure I could make it through another one.
This had an interesting premise, and while I liked the majority of the characters, the antagonists were all rather hateful and it was easy to root for their downfall.
The concept of a WereWitch was rather enticing, and you know that it’s going to come up in the next book.
Excellently written with wonderfully detailed descriptions of people and places. I enjoyed the narration and was pleased with the pace of the story. I found the FMC to be a little simplistic in her approaches but she seems to be growing as the story progresses.
Ok good plot..check. great character development..check . Fast pace action.. check.. little romance throw in for balance.. check.. did I miss anything oh yah few laughs thrown in For good measure..
A good tale of a were girl who gets involved with a warlock. Both have a similar problem. They are targets of unwanted attention from suitors. And they just want to be left alone. A good read.
I enjoyed this book. I thought it wad a good urban fantasy novel, or should it be called rural fantasy? A few parts could have been fleshed or a little more but I still liked it. I shall have to see where Roland and Bailey's escapades take them next.
Good narrative with some fun one-liners to keep a reader interested. Believable characters that have depth and enjoyable personalities.Recommended for fans of were folks.
I know this author is a long way into this series but I hope she’s figured out if she writing in first or third person. It would be first person then the girl bla bla the wizard bla bla. If this book is free try it maybe it gets better, the premise isn’t bad.
I really enjoyed this read. It had a different way of presenting the characters and held plenty of action throughout…. I loved the main characters, as well as the others, and am eager to see what comes next… A really good read….
The writing style is a bit off. Written in 3rd person but with a first person slant? Also, the characters seemed very stilted. How strange to call the bartender Mr. Quaide. Who calls a bartender mister. And the way Roland blabed his problems right away and in such depth....I gave up.
I enjoyed reading this first book for the 2nd time, having read it years ago. Good story line and creative writing. Did not like all the foul language however. D Sschlosser
This book is a page Turner. I couldnt put my phone down at all. I am speechless. There is action, alot of humor and everything you would want in a new series startet
Couldn’t get into the book read 3/4 and couldn’t force myself to finish .... no connection to the characters no depth...was disappointed wanted it to be good
Werewitch? A very different style to the language than usual. A good story, this was a good intro to the series and I look forward to seeing what comes next for Bailey and Roland.
