He’s the Sergeant at Arms for the Dark Knights MC. He enforces the rules and gets his hands dirty. She’s the daughter of a biker. Property of another MC. She’s young. He’s not. He’s lived a life. She’s just finding her way. She’s a bad idea. A very bad idea. One which can quickly turn allies into rivals. One war is over, he’s not ready to begin another. But the temptation might make it unavoidable.
Note: While this interracial/age gap story can be read as a standalone, it’s best to read it after the Down & Dirty: Dirty Angels MC books to know the background of both the H and h. As with all my books, it doesn't have a cliffhanger and has an HEA.

It was a standard Jeanne St James' MC storyline, but I was honestly shocked when I got to the part early in the book about him, a Black man, not being attracted to dark skinned women. And in the Epilogue, being proud that his son had the same preferences?! I've always liked Jeanne's books but this was a new low for me. Why would someone write a main male character who was Black and then have him put down women who had the same skin colour as him?! Was that needed to justify his attraction to the female main character, who was white?! How disappointing that an author chose to include such 'colourist' tripe.
When a white author puts her racialized superiority fantasy in book form, you get this drivel. No. Just no. Offensive on so many levels. I've read some of her other books and I've never read one where her white H disdained in the pejorative white h's. As if black woman dont have to put up with enough racial nonsense. Hell. to. the. no.
Maybe I should have read the entire book but after finding out that the main character didn't like women of color it was a turn off
But considering he was African American himself I was disappointed from the beginning of the book and it really made me angry who dunked their culture a turn off
I couldn’t even make past the first few pages. The moment I read this(Nina wasn’t his type. He did not lean towards females with dark hair, dark eyes and dark skin. Fuck no.) Like he’s black himself why does the reason he’s not into Nina have to be her skin. Disgusting.
Magnum is well aware of the potential consequences of getting involved with Caitie. He is the Sargent in Arms for the Dark Knights and knows that it is much more prudent that their relationship with the Dirty Angels MC be as friends rather than foes but he is about to put that relationship to the test.
Caitie has been raised in Dirty Angels but when she needs help she decides that Magnum is the man for the job and not her father. She is determined to get the only man she has ever wanted and that time is now.
Magnum and Caitie were so much fun together. Her feisty and fiery personality is exactly the challenge that the protector in Magnum needs. Hot chemistry, humorous interactions all add up to a compelling story that you won’t be able to put down.
Age gap ... I usually enjoy it. This book just missed the mark for me. She was too pushy for his attention, and by the time it did happen.. I lost interest.
I think the time has come, for me to break up with this author. I have read many, MANY of her books, and honestly they're just not doing it for me. In this book in particular, you have a female MC who goes through something really traumatic, yet doesn't act like it at all. She doesn't handle it the way you'd think she would/should. The whole time Magnum is trying to get her to tell him what happened, I just wanted to shake her until her head popped off because OMG, it was like pulling teeth.
But I digress. Magnum, as much of a biker as he is "took care of business" in the least biker-like way ever. Was it because he was running out of time? Um no. There was no deadline, not really. The whole cloak and dagger dance with her dad and his club and Magnum was just pointless to be honest. Sure, it's explained, but personally I find it weak. Also, as per the usual, the men are all about women with big boobs. That's their thing. All of them. Meaning, predictable from book to book.
Now, there are some things I just can't behind when it comes to the way she touched on the African American aspect of this book. I won't go into detail, but let's just say, you have an AA family, whose members seem to have a thing either against their own, or a thing for White people. It's tricky to get into that for me, because I just don't feel I'm in the right position to do that. Suffice it to say, especially considering the social turmoil we're in, this was poorly timed. Sorry, I just can't anymore, I'm done with this author and you know what ? That's ok. It's ok to move on, and change (although I was never her biggest fan), and just find greener pastures.
I just really need to say this because no other comments really touch on it. One of the brothers did nothing to deserve death. I already had a low opinion on the main characters because of crap that happened early on, but killing an innocent person who did nothing to warrant it was horrible. Why? Then we get Cait talking about how she doesn't feel bad about one of the men's death because of what happened to herb even though he didn't do anything to her. Of course she doesn't know that because Magnum, who does know that, won't tell her. Probably because he killed an innocent person. I'm done with this author and will not be reading any more of her books.
First, I had been curious about Magnum since he appeared early on in book 2, So to wait so long for his story was brutal. What I got for all that anticipation??? I have been found/ left wanting... Why?
Well for one thing considering the arsenal that Caitlin has at her back with her own family MC, and not to mention Magnum could and should have easily found a way to get em involved, considering the circumstances; what occurred instead with these two rang with an air of "No way in hell this scenario would have happened with them".. So my not being able to buy it, affected my view on their plight from jump..
Then you have what actually occurred, what happened to Caitlin. Don't want to give spoilers and I won't... but let's just say I would not be so chill and accepting if that happened to me, nor eager to protect my job after all that. Plus the weird anti-climactic way it was solved too, completely had me rolling my eyes.. Like really?? This is how it was handled??
And again something so major, I get her not wanting to upset her Dad, but still, it makes no sense why they were never told. Especially when we get to the outcome of how everything worked out eventually, and way too easily, considering the major blowback we are told could/would happen through the entire novel; as to why they can't know the truth.... So all the secrets and half a&& covert ops Magnum did for her was pointless...
Finally we have... the luke warm chemistry between he and Caitlin (was not impressed with their activities at all and the lack of abundance of it in that department too) and barely any details of all that is Magnum physically, we only got that he's black, dark skinned, bald, and a big guy with Tatts. Found it very hard to try to place him in my mind's eye. Where as every other male in this series, I have a very vivid picture of how they looked based on the numerous descriptions we get throughout their books..
This one got 2 stars only because Magnum's reunion with his adult children. But even that wasn't all it could have been either, and it felt extremely rushed as well.
I saw so many avenues this book could have gone that would have made this one an epic read, simply because of who our MCs are here and what was at stake. But really, this one just came off as a simpleton, surface solution to some really deep, intense, and dark happenings/emotions that were the basis of this book.
So no. I didn't really care for this one. Don't know if I'll read 13 or not. Since the synopsis has it sounding like the same angle a little. Forbidden love with diff MC female property.... So We'll see.
This one was interesting in that it had 2 characters that we don't know that much about. Magnum has been around a while, there to help when needed. Cait showed up in Dawg's book, with glimpses of her here and there. Seeing her all grown up was fun, surprised that she would end up with Magnum due to the age difference and him being in a different MC.
It was easy to see why when Cait needed help she went to Magnum. She knew him, he was a step removed from the bikers she knew that could have helped her, plus her attraction to him. I think him being not as close helped due to what she went through. I was glad when Magnum helped her.
The week they spent together was so funny at times. Magnum stuck out so much, around all these other people, it had to be funny. More so when Magnum has his freak out and everyone started contacting Cait to make sure she was all right.
I was glad when Magnum figured out who did Cait wrong and how he went about fixing it. I probably shouldn't like how things were resolved, but I did.
I wasn't sure these 2 were going to end up together, Magnum tried to do the right thing and let Cait go and Cait was still hiding everything. Dawg and Diesel coming to talk to Magnum was so much fun to read, about the only thing better was all the chats at the last holiday dinner! I was glad that these two found their HEA and that Cait helped Magnum find another part of his life that was missing.
4 star review of Magnum The Line: A Dirty Angels MC/Blue Avengers MC Crossover by Jeanne St James
Audio Review
Magnum is the Sergeant at Arms for the Dark Knights MC and he knows that the last thing he should even think about is helping Caitlin, the daughter of Dirty Angels MC rival biker Dawg and even more so becoming involved with her, particularly since she is 16 years younger than him. The clubs have a peaceful relationship at the moment and this could send them to war. Even knowing this, the attraction between them is impossible to ignore. The performance by Ava Lucas and Sean Crisden is outstanding and they most certainly did justice to the story. I loved how protective Magnum was of Caitie and I loved how feisty Caitie was and how determined she was to stand on her own. Although this is not my favourite from Jeanne St James, I was invested in the story which was gripping and at times emotional. The chemistry and passion between them is intense and the banter between them witty as they navigate the push and pull of their relationship . They’ll need to be a united front if they have any chance at convincing their two clubs to accept their relationship.
If I could have this now..,I would devour!!! I’ve been waiting for this big guy for ages.... Totally different than the DAMC books, but very enjoyable and real. These two had an uphill battle, first to get past themselves, then to get thru her shite, and then to deal with both their clubs...I enjoyed the push and pull and the fact that Magnum fought with himself and let her know that he was on a hair trigger...she only pushed so hard and then let him come to her. That was when we knew he would risk it all for her, even his heart. Big smoochy loves for this big guy!
Cait father is the President of the Dirty Angels MC, she knows she can turn to him for anything but Cait doesn't want him involved though and makes a decision to request help from Magnum, a biker from the Dark Knights MC instead. Magnum knows his helping Cait could get him either dead or kicked out of his club. He has always had a soft spot for Cait though and even though he wants her he knows he can't touch her as she is the property of a rival MC, even if they are on friendly terms. Cait though is not making it easy, she knows she loves Magnum and wants to be in his life. He pushes her away though, how many times does he have to do that though without risking his own happiness if Cait was in his life? Can he take a chance on her?
This was great, a bit angsty when it came to Magnum/Cait dynamic but overall good story. I was surprised with what Cait was requesting help for and liked that the dynamic of her fathers club was her protecting them. Have to go back and read some of this authors books, looks like I found a new MC author to enjoy.
Every time I sit down with a book by this mad talented lady, I am blown away! Magnum and his woman live and breathe from the very first page and while it isn't an easy road, the happy ending is worth every moment of doubt and pain. Magnum is the Sgt at Arms for the Dark Knights, the same position that Diesel holds in the Dirty Angels and there are a few similarities. He's tough, stubborn and willing to do whatever it takes to protect the people he cares about. But he shows emotions beyond anger and rage, putting so much on the line for the woman he cares so much about. His woman is everything I could have imagined being the perfect match for Magnum. She is so strong, but still sweet and the love she has for him changes everything. Awesome story, phenomenal characters, Jeanne St James rocks every story she touches. All the stars for Magnum!
I loved Magnum and Caitlin's story. I felt that this book delivered a gripping, well written story that was filled with lots of emotion and tension. These two characters enjoy quite the dance as they fight their attraction in this older man/younger woman romance. Drama and complications cause multiple obstacles that have to be overcome on the road to a HEA. I am posting a independent and impartial review.
This story was a nail biting, a wtf just give in already. Perfect kind of age gap love. These 2 literally are drowning with the push pull of what they want. Magnum the push and cait the pull. The ending is absolutely perfection. Jeanne you did it again.
What a nice bonus story that combined two unlikely characters. Magnum had always intrigued me from when he was originally introduced. I'm glad he got his own standalone and I'm also thankful for any chance to revisit Shadow Valley and the DAMC.
I always knew this was going to be a 5☆ read. It was inevitable, seeing as it was about Magnum. And Caitlyn.
The who, what, where of this story was unexpected. Kind of shit, but you know, these things happen in real life. And not to go soap-boxing, but women need to keep themselves safe! Some humans in this world, are just plain evil.
Cait needs help and turns to Magnum. She can't go to her father, Dawg (who I adore!!! Even more after this book) he'll end up in jail...
“I can’t go to anyone in the club with this. It’ll create more of a... a mess than it already is.” Goddamn it. “The Shadows.” “They work for Diesel who won’t keep shit from Dad.” Goddamn it. “The pigs.” She sighed. “Axel. He’ll tell Bella and Bella will tell D or Dawg.” Jesus fuck. She was probably right, Axhole would run to his wife like the pussy-whipped pig he was. “Yep, screwed no matter who you go to.” “Except you.”
Cait is now 25 years old, having met her biological dad Dawg 10 years before. She's noticed Magnum from 17 years old, but he's older and from another MC, which may be allies with the DAMC but you don't tread on toes. And he s noticed her too. And this is the crux between Cait and Magnum, but with her problem and a week away from both clubs...the heat between them is bound to burn bright.
There are moments of humour from Magnum, who is likened to D, who for all intents and purposes - has no sense of humour ;
"Dawg should’ve at least sprang for the 3.5L so the damn vehicle could get out of its own way " [Magnum. Dissing Caits cage]
And his sweetness, for all his bad ass biker guy grunting, when it comes to Cait;
"He couldn’t give her everything, but he could give her him." [Magnum. Them feels].
I want to say so much more about the plot but I know I'll give the whole storyline away...and I don't want too. I want you to read this book and LOVE Jeannes work! You will, you know!
One part that makes me want to go back and read Dawgs book again, because he's so frign awesome;
"He stepped closer to her and she didn’t recognize the look on his face. “You’re fuckin’ right, I’m not. ‘Cause not only did he...” His big body lurched. “But some motherfucker...” She got scared when he lurched again. Then he simply... crumbled. Right there. In front of her. Almost as if a baseball bat had struck him right in the middle. All air rushed from his lungs, his body bending over in half as he went down. Her big, tough, badass biker father fell to his knees only feet from her. Him visibly shattering caused her to break inside, too. To see him affected like that ripped her apart. This was another reason she never wanted him to know. To see her strong father falling apart made it so much worse."
Through all the author teases, the push for this book and the waiting...it was worth it.
I love Magnum & Cait. A much welcome addition (even as a crossover) to the DAMC series. And now I gotta wonder...which DAMC prospect will be patched for Aliyaah... 🙄🙄🙄
Oh, my gosh. Where to start with this one. There were so many great aspects of Cait and Magnum's story. The book was fantastic!! I couldn't put it down.
I agree with the blurb. This is a standalone story but best read after the DAMC series where Magnum showed up in a couple of the books. If nothing else, I would definitely read Dawg and Diesel's books first. Dawg, Cait's dad, (and Emma), as well as Diesel show up in this book. Knowing their stories and especially their personalities would help enhance a couple scenes.
Cait was in trouble and knew she couldn't go to anyone in the DAMC or anyone closely affiliated with them. It could be a disaster if she did. There was only one man she could trust, literally with her life, and that was Magnum. Despite all the many reasons it would be a bad idea, Magnum pushed those aside to help protect Cait.
Despite the age difference and being from different MCs, they truly were perfect for each other. The chemistry was explosive. The things he did for her, risked for her, showed true feelings for Cait that Magnum could not deny. I loved their connection. Cait was great for him, too. She showed him that he was a good man worth loving.
This story had all the feels. There were a few scenes that brought tears to my eyes. The biggest one was the scene between Cait and Dawg when she revealed a personal secret. The next was what Dawg did after. I'm not going to give any spoilers away but have your tissues handy.
This one was different from the other DAMC books because almost the whole story took place away from the DAMC compound. It worked though. I also think it was needed so Cait and Magnum could have quality time getting to explore their connection. A staple in most DAMC books is at least one scene with the sisterhood. That was missing here although I thought we were going to get it at one point and wished we would have. I just made up in my mind how I thought it would have gone though. lol
I am so glad Magnum got his own book. From the moment we met him, I was hoping we would. Now, I hope we get to know more of the Dark Knights and maybe see some of them get their own books. With Cait and Magnum together, I'd love to see the interaction (and maybe even overlapping) of the two MCs. *I voluntarily reviewed an Advance Reader Copy of this book. This is my honest review.*
An emotional roller coaster ride - Highly recommend
For mature readers only (18+ years old) due to subject matter that may be a trigger or offensive to some including adult language throughout, steamy intimate scenes and violence such as non-consensual drugging and sexual assault, a secret video tape, death, etc.). It also contains an interracial relationship that involves a 15 year age gap, and a very small glimpse at some of the unjust language / treatment that can receive from ignorant people.
This story’s theme involves two biker clubs, the Dirty Angels MC (DAMC) and the Dark Knights MC (DKMC). Both of which operate under antiquated ideas such as women being treated as property that must be claimed during church.
While this could probably be read as a stand-alone, I highly recommend it be read after the DAMC series and before the Blood Fury MC series for maximum reader satisfaction and to prevent spoilers as there are reoccurring characters and themes.
This story begins when Caitlin, aka Caitie, goes to Magnum, the Sergeant At Arms with the DKMC for help. She knows if she takes it to her father or Diesel, the Sergeant At Arms for the DAMC, that it could and would most likely result in either or both of them going to jail. She suspected who it was that drugged and assaulted her, but she wasn’t sure and she trusted Magnum.
Magnum and Caitlin have been attracted to each other for years, but their only real contact occurred when Diesel got married the year before. Magnum knew that her coming to him was going to get him into trouble of some kind, but when she told him what happened, he didn’t trust anyone else to watch over her but him. Regardless of the cost, he was willing to pay it. This meant that when he learned of a week long retreat that would most likely include the person who assaulted her, there was no way she was going without him ....
I am going to stop here so I don’t accidentally provide any spoilers.
📚Magnum 📚 By: Jeanne St. James Format: eBook & Audiobook (Kobo Plus) 📱🎧 Genre: Contemporary/Dark Romance POV: Dual First Person Setting: Shadow Valley Tropes: Age Gap, MC Romance, Alpha Biker MMC/Strong Sassy FMC, Interracial Relationship, Touch Her & 💀 Trigger Warnings: Mentions of Off-Page Drugging and SA Spicy: 🌶🌶🌶🌶 Rating: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Review: This plot and story development were good. The chemistry between the FMC and MMC was fantastic. It was so easy to get drawn into this book. The world Jeanne St. James has built is so easy to get lost in. The narration was done wonderfully and was enjoyable.
I definitely went on an emotional roller coaster with this book. I got so mad a few times. I cried and fell in love. I laughed so much and so hard I had tears in my eyes. The spicy scenes were fantastic. This book will hold a special place in my heart and live rent free in my head for who knows how long. Magnum is definitely an awesome book boyfriend.
Now I want to address a couple of things. Personal Opinion: I read reviews left on Goodreads and was appalled. People have preferences in who they are attracted to, from eye color, hair color, body build, age range, and EVEN SKIN COLOR. It is mind boggling that people have given one and two star ratings because the MMC openly expressed his attraction preferences or because the MMC inter-monologue about how he kind of liked that his son had similar attraction preferences. In my opinion, the people who left those reviews have biased, negative opinions and views on interracial relationships. Typically, people in interracial relationships have attraction preferences, i.e., not the same RACE/SKIN COLOR!!! It is my opinion that neither of those things makes this book racist. TRIGGER WARNING Info: The SA in this book is not described in detail.
Trigger Warning/Spoiler Alert
Off page a character is drugged and then SA. Again, the SA is not described in detail.
As the Sgt at Arms for the Dark Knights MC, Magnum was used to keeping the peace when needed and keeping the rule breakers from starting trouble. But when the woman he has been lusting at for too long walks into Dirty Dick’s, he knows trouble has found him. And he isn’t sure if he will be able to resist taking a taste of the temptation. Caitlin only knew privilege until the day she found out that Dawg was her real father. His MC world opened her to what a family looks like even when they aren’t related by blood. As she continued to grow up in this new world, her fascination with the beautiful dark bald Sgt had her craving some dark chocolate. Caitlin needs help and while she would normally go to her father, she knows this subject is one that would have Dawg seeing red and most likely going to jail. Instead, she heads over to Dirty Dicks and asks for Magnum’s help in the DL. When Magnum and Caitlin find themselves pulled together time and again, their attraction for one another explodes into a passion neither had ever felt before. While the lust evolves into more, Magnum has to decide if he is willing to take a chance that he could lose everything if he claims Caitlin as his own. Once again Jeanne St. James has written a story that flows beautifully and reads fabulously. The angst, heartache, attraction, sacrifice, danger, and sex is so powerful that it will have you feeling as if you are running in the Arizona desert during a windstorm. I have read every one of St. James’ books and each novel will have you falling more and more in love with the MC romance world. Magnum will have you laughing, crying, sighing, and craving to have a dark chocolate sexy-as-hell man wrap his arms around you and stick his big, giant...motorcycle between your legs. Get your head out of the gutter and into this book!!! It is amazing. Just truly spectacular.
Magnum A Dark Knights MC/Dirty Angels MC Crossover By: Jeanne St. James Narrated by: Sean Crisden, Ava Lucas
I work on Saturdays, and when I saw this release, I knew it was the perfect diversion to make my day go by fast! Jeanne St James once again has a winning story on her hand. A little different than her usual biker stories, as this one crosses over clubs, giving it an extra edge of danger. Caitie is in trouble. The daughter of Dawg, member of the DAMC, she won't turn to him with this problem, but she does turn to his friend, Magnum. The problem is, he is a member of DKMC, and this can cause dissension between the clubs. Once he hears the issue though, his feelings for her become front and center and he will do what it takes to keep her safe. There are so many things that can go wrong with this one. Listening to see what could happen in this story had me glued to my headphones! Magnum and Caitie are perfectly suited. But with an age difference, skin color difference and club affiliations, it could have all gone wild. Fantastic characters, thrilling suspense and a love story to boot. I couldn't go wrong! This crossover story is amazing.
Sean Crisden and Ava Lucas are our story tellers and their performance is brilliant. Crisden immerses himself into the character of Magnum. He is protective and loving, and definitely can show a temper! As Caitie, Lucas brings out not only the fear in this woman, but a strength that comes through her voice. These two know their characters and bring out all the qualities to make them alive. Another fantastic pairing for a fantastic book.
Oh my word! I feel like I’ve waited forever for Magnum’s story! That’s probably a little melodramatic, but he’s such a great character and needed his story told and I’m not always the most patient person...so forever! Ever since we met Magnum in Jag’s book, he has become an incredible person of interest in the DAMC world, popping up periodically to intrigue us. Love that his significant other is Dawg’s daughter, Caitlin. At first it was just because I was hoping we’d get the opportunity to visit with Dawg some...he’s such a favorite of mine...but then we got a full dose of her personality and character and I don’t think anyone is better to go toe to toe with Magnum and eventually steal his heart. Is she younger...yes she is...but does she care...nope! They have so much going against them, but when she’s in need of help, and she definitely needed help, he steps up and helps, knowing how bad that can be for him and her. This book was full of Ms. St. James’ amazing imagination...beyond sexy, exciting, mysterious and truly hilarious at times...old man jokes abound! We also were able to visit with some old friends and make new ones, always a plus. Magnum has taken his place as one of my favorites right along with Diesel, Dawg, Crow, Mercy and Steel and trust me, all the others not listed aren’t slouches either. Thank you for sharing your incredible talent for storytelling with us Ms. St, James, you’ve truly outdone yourself.
I absolutely love the Dirty Angels MC series, so it was no surprise that I loved this book as well. There's been hints as to something going on between these two characters for several books (in the Dirty Angels MC series), and I'm happy that they finally got their story. It was intriguing, humorous, angsty, as well as having a tragic situation that the story was consumed with. I loved the way that everything worked out, even though it was very unexpected. I would definitely say that this is a must read book. This story hits home for me, especially since my parents were 13 years apart in age, and the structure of the family isn't something that I'm a stranger to either, as my own family is very similar. I love that this author isn't afraid to write about unexpected or what's considered abnormal situations, or about what most would consider taboo topics. I think that it makes for a fantastic read, especially when the author is as talented as this one. I'm looking forward to reading more from this fabulous author in the future. I would strongly suggest that you read the DAMC series prior to this book, but it's not necessary. You'll definitely understand more about the characters, reactions, and the aspects between the two clubs by reading the series first. It's an absolutely amazing series, and you certainly won't be disappointed. I would definitely recommend this book and exceptional author.
Magnum and Caitlin's story is a heartfelt one that you will really enjoy. Caitlin's father is president of the Dirty Angels MC and they are allies to Magnum's Dark Knights MC. When Caitlin finds herself in need of help she turns to Magnum and hopes he will help her out of a difficult situation. She does not want her father to know what has happened so she goes to someone she feels she can trust. Their connection and chemistry was undeniable but they have several obstacles to overcome. You find yourself hoping that they can work out all their problems and also solve Caitlin's problem. I absolutely loved Magnum's character. He was protective, possessive and had a big heart; the perfect alpha male. I know when I start a Jeanne St James book that it will grab me within the first few pages and then I'm on a ride of excitement, suspense and anticipation. She just has a way with words to describe what is happening. The epilogue was a great addition to the story. This was an amazing crossover from the Dirty Angels MC. I highly recommend this book and I look forward to the next story in the series. I received a copy of this book as a gift and this is my honest and voluntary review.
What a fantastic crossover between the Dark Knight MC and Dirty Angels MC. If you haven’t read the Dirty Angels series, you MUST read that first to fully appreciate the dynamics of this epic story. It can be read as a stand-alone, but you’ll thank me for having read the full series. Magnum, just like his name implies is MAGNIFICENT and so addicting. He’s hard core, no non-sense, tough as nails, massive, and protective. He knows right from wrong, knows what’s a good idea and what’s definitely not a good idea, knows the consequences but he throws it all to the wind because of a certain blond haired, green eyed, beauty! This book made me laugh out loud so many times. The banter and inner dialogue was incredibly funny and so true to character and to their worlds. You get such an insight into this hard alpha male. He will grab your heart and you will feel his every emotion. Cait, is the perfect female version of her dad and she completely holds her own. Her vulnerability in this story will wreck you and her strength will empower you. You will also love the word ‘baby’ ahhhhh!!! As always, Jeanne St James did a phenomenal job. I will read this book again!
So to say this book is a stand alone is a partial truth. It can be read as one since the characters are well introduced and developed on their own but it does help to have read the DAMC books to understand the depth of love of these characters. Jeanne St James does not shy away from difficult subjects at all. Caitlyn finds herself in a situation that she cannot get help from her usual sources. So she goes to someone whom she trusts with her soul. I adored her and her stubbornness to fix what has been broken and how she seeks out the best man for the job. How can I describe Magnum? A biker who hasn’t had things go his way all his life until he found his MC. He knows what is important to his club and the club who claims Caitlyn. He refuses to break those trusts even if he destroys himself in the process. He would seem a rough and tumble man but he really sees the world for what it is and protects who and what he can. The feels from this book just about did me in. This was my favorite of all the DAMC books even though this technically isn’t one.
I started this book and could not put it down; from the first scene you are hooked...She walks into his bar; he doesn’t understand why until he presses her or information...he did not see what she tells him coming!!
She can’t talk to anyone in the DAMC about this, she only trusts Magnum to help her. Ever since that first time they saw each other, his eyes always met hers in some secret way, they thought no one was looking. Their story is emotional in so many ways, I could not hold in the laughter, frustration and tears. Sign of a good book...I’d say so. This man goes out of his comfort zone for her to find a way through the situation she has found herself in, the h gets to see a side of him he shows to no one.
I absolutely loved this book, the author cares so much about her characters and puts so much emotion into the stories. And with any extra books in the DAMC/In the Shadows series we get to meet up with some of those members, I always find that a treat. I can’t wait for whatever she brings next for her readers
This author has a lot of sides to her. It's the first series I've read that includes issues people of colour deal with every day and I love how Jeanne St James is unafraid to touch on it. Magnum has been watching Cait since she was a girl. Cait grew up thinking her father was the man her mother was married to until she found out the secrets and lies her mother held. When she moves in with her real Dad her eyes and heart find his ally Magnum. She doesn't care about his colour or the fact he is a biker or that he is much older than her. The heart wants what the heart wants. Magnum finds it hard to resist Cait when he agrees to be her protector after she is drugged and raped by someone she works with. But he will fight the attraction he feels to her with all that he is. She deserves better. He cannot break the alliance with her father's club. He is a man of colour, much older, and he's already lost everyone he loved once. Once he catches the animal that drugged and filmed Cait he will extract himself from her life even if it's one of the hardest things he does.
