Lily Zante is the author of over sixty contemporary romance and women's fiction novels. After spending two decades working in IT, she decided to give writing another try. Given her love of The Walking Dead, she started off writing zombie fiction but quickly dove into writing romance instead. She's glad she switched.
1.5 This is the first time I've read this author and it will probably be my last. The writing is terrible and the story is not very compelling. Her need to overexplain everything just becomes filler just to drag out the story.
This is a quick read and the prequel to The Billionaire’s Love Story. Savanna is recently divorced and starting over in New York with her young son. Tobias in tortured by his past and not looking for romance. Will they be able to help heal each other’s pain? Fast-paced read with plenty of drama and emotion. I liked it and am looking forward to more.
I was debating purchasing the Gift trilogy by this author after I saw it advertised on Instagram but I have had some horrendous luck with romance books lately. I bought several I saw advertised on Instagram and Facebook and they were terrible. After some searching I found this prequel free on Wattpad. I am incredibly glad I chose to read this first.
The writing is actually decent. Easy to understand, flows well, the characters have clear voices and the dialogue doesn't make me want to shove a pen into my eye.
The problem is the main characters are just awful people.
Tobias is a billionaire hedge fund manager, a functioning alcoholic and has an extremely weird contractual relationship with a high class escort. This man doesn't need a relationship, he needs AA, therapy and possibly some antidepressants.
Savannah moved to New York to live in her cousin's apartment with her asthmatic 5 year old son after divorcing her abusive ex-husband. She did this without any job prospects and it doesn't seem like she has any significant savings to justify moving to such a high cost of living city. Savannah is not nearly as awful as Tobias at first glance but the way she denigrated working in a restaurant and a grocery store really rubbed me the wrong way. She's the idiot who moved to New York City with no job, no money, no support system and a child with a medical condition. Not a very smart lady.
Due to my immediate hatred of the main characters I opted to not continue with the series. I would probably read something else by this author.

A well-written logical prequel to the series. I love all of Lily's novels. They are well-thought-o, well-written, engaging human stories. There is romance and strong physical attraction at the heart of all of them and this book introduced the Gift series very well. Unlike with other boxsets, I never read The Promise and although the Gift, the first of The Billionaire's Love Story series can be read without this background information, any additional understanding of the characters is a definite plus. This book is just a short introduction to the series itself which makes the reader appreciate the complexities of the characters of Savannah, Tobias and many others we will encounter in the subsequent boxset. As always, very well edited. I would gladly recommend any of Lily’s books.

This is a prequel to a new series which is strangely divided into 9 parts - 20 books total - which I found confusing. I think the author has turned each book into 3 books, or vice versa, The Offer, The Gift, The Vow. I bought one set titled books 1-3 thinking that I had gotten the 3 book set but each is just one book, so that I am baffled by and a little frustrated as it makes no sense. Either way, each introduces a new man, Tobias, Xavier, and Luke...with each man having their own story/series. But once,I read the prequel it seems all the books are about Tobias and Savannah's story. So,if I wasn’t confused before, I certainly am now, so I give up.

Recently divorced, Savannah Page arrives in New York with her young son determined to make a new life. Tormented billionaire Tobias Stone, is haunted by his past. Not looking for romance, he pays for sex, rejecting all forms of emotional connection. Something is missing from both of their lives; they just don't know it yet. The billionaire needs the single mom as much as she needs him.
The Promise was very enjoyable to read from start to finish. The story line was brilliant to read and one that i will read again. This is the first story I've read by Lily Zante and if this book is anything to go by I'll be reading more of her books in the future.
This is the prequel to The Billionaire's Love Story. The story was interesting and keeps you interested to see what happens with Savannah and Tobias. I will go look at the other books in this series to get more better understanding of the story and characters. Overall a great read.

Savannah and her son Jacob came to NYC for a new start. Her cousin is pushing her to relax and not worry. Sav knows what she wants and need. Tobias can't get this feeling of something missing in his life. Yet he can run a business and can't figure out what is missing. Will Sav find her dream job. And Tobias find what's missing.
Loved the book it was great, the story was well written and the characters are interesting. The story of Savannah and Tobias was sweet, they both think they are missing something but they do not know what. I loved reading this book I was so engrossed that the ending arrived before I knew it.

A good read for people who are in to the series recommend highly can't wait for the next one of the series a really enjoyable read but quick shaping up to be a enjoyable series must read the next one of the series
I didn't like the way that was on and on that for Tobias was something missing.... Or that for Savanah the way she felt for herself was always off... For a short prequel was a little tiresome. Good but frustrating.
Their Unsettled State - This short story gives us Tobias and Savannah’s background and sets the path they travelled prior to the first meeting. I suggest you read this book prior to reading book one (The Gift). I really enjoyed reading it.
Everything in this novella is told in the first three books of The Gift. Lordy, not everyone pities this women, that is too much on her mind. Some things made sense after listening to this novella. I liked it, characters are all great.
