Excellent story, poor writing and even worse ‘filler’.
This is a lovely short story, unexplainably expanded to a novel.
To cut to the bone, at least 4 chapters began the exact same way so that it was impossible to differentiate.
Such a shame as there is a delightful story, weakly expanded by a wannabe-explorer’s cadet, handed a thesaurus that ends with a “who gives a shate”.
