ok so this was a tough one. But overall I would give this book a 3 and half/ 4* out of 5. So my review will contain spoilers. So to begin with I didn't like how the book started. It was almost robotic. "Instead of surrendering, the men fired at him as he’d anticipated. A bullet hit the edge of his hat and sent it flying. Another whizzed by his head. He levelled his rifle and fired until each man fell to the ground."
I feel the author was very full stop happy. I think it would of probably read better with more "," than ".".
I did think a few chapters in it got better, I really liked the characters and how they all mingled and there personalities. there were also some funny parts to it as well.
When writing stories for a specific time, I think its important to research language and terms used for that era. The author mentions about "potty training" and how Stuart got her a potty. However the term "potty training" didn't coming into the language until the 20th Century.
They would use the bed chamber pot to train the children. After having a look around it said that back in the late 1800's parents would use suppositories or enemas to train the child to use the chamber pot.

And finally it felt the last 3/4 chapters reverted right back to the same poor writing as the beginning. Like a lot of authors its almost like she saw the end and rushed it. She built up a lot of REALLY good characters throughout the book in my opinion and built the story up well despite the initial let down but failed at the end.

I would have had it Stuart gone to town with the Sherriff to see about dealing with the bad guys, while on his way back to the ranch they hear gunshots coming from that direction, I would of also had it perhaps Georgina's father takes out a bad guy, showing not only is he more than just a city guy, but he has a mean streak if you mess with his family (he was made so nice through out the story) It would have also brought a new respect from his daughters as they would not only see not to make him mad but what he would do to protect them, also they mention that the grandfather did a lot of fox hunting, that would have been something nice to tie into the father still having the skill to hunt. Then I would of had it that the main bad guy escapes on a horse and Stuart chases him, perhaps a scuffle then him being shot and killed in a quick draw.

The last part that bugs me slightly is why name there son after the Sherriff, it was very random and didn't make sense. I thought if they were going to name the child after anyone it would be Buster.

Anyway i know this is a long review. I do recommend reading this book, and if your like me and think its bad at the beginning push through because the characters and story is quite nice.

Loved this one. It’s a sweet and heartwarming story about a woman who’s escaping the east from her family who doesn’t think much of her and a man who had done what he needs to to secure his home in a ranch. Stuart is on his last bounty hunting trip that will secure his future when he discover a baby left by the two he captured. She was now an orphan and under his care. He brings her back home with him after not coming across a single family that would take her in. Georgina has had enough of her family and becomes a mail order bride. Only when she gets to the town, he has already married a saloon girl and she and the girl got into a fight and now she’s stuck in jail. Perfect for Stuart as he now needs a wife and she had come out to be a bride. The marry to take care of baby Addie and begin to care for one another. Just as that happens the past comes back to threaten the tender strings of their new future.

This was one of my favorite stories in this series as it has everything you could want in this good historical western plus more than you would expect.
Stuart, our hero, is handsome and went from the civil war to being a bounty hunter and one of the best. He needs this last bounty to pay off his ranch, but he finds a surprise in the cabin where he finds the two worst criminals he has ever hunted. He finds of course a baby or more of a toddler and now what is he going to do with her.
Well he does what he has to because no one in this small backwards town wants another mouth to feed.
He still has a way to go to get home to his ranch in Colorado.
Meantime, there is a mail order bride that shows up in town and finds that her betrothed has gotten married already. Now what is she to do?
Well, there is all this, adventure for Stuart at the beginning, a bride he finds in town, and there is fun, romance, love, lots of baby time, and a whole lot more, oh and they all find adventure near the end. But it all turns out really good.
I love that Caroline packed so much into this story that it got my attention right off and I couldn’t put it down until the end.
I highly recommend this story and all the Bachelor and Babies books as this is one of the best series of multiauthor I have read. Each can be read as a stand alone accept a couple near the beginning.

Terrific story

Stuart is a bounty hunter. Caroline Clemmons truly found a unique way for Stuart to become a father. It was really sad about Addie's parents, but I'm glad that he found her. As for Georgina, she's truly a delightful character. I love her spunk and fearlessness in showing up as a jilted mail order bride. I've been enjoying each and every book in this series and will probably read them all again at some point because I've loved the uniqueness of each story. Caroline definitely has a winner here.

Clean romance

The story kept my interest but didn’t stir my emotions. It would have been more engaging had the sentences not been so choppy. The times it was the most realistic was when the men followed their noses to the dinner table. I liked the way Georgina took to the ranch life without complaint and that Stuart stood up for her. It was clean, diverting, and had a happy if predictable ending.

IT MUST BE DESTINY

While the story is part of the Bachelors and Babies series, it is a stand-alone story. The story is a clean historical western-based book. When bounty hunter Stuart McGee finds the two men he has been trailing, it comes with the brutal death of a young couple—but fate will allow their daughter, Addie, to survive. Now Stuart finds himself with a toddler and unsure of what to do, but he plans to do whatever he needs to for the sake of this little girl.

Georgina Potter has reached the end of her ropes with her mother and sister. As if being ridiculed her entire life wasn’t bad enough, now her sister, Virginia, has managed to steal Philip, her fiancé, away too. An ad for a mail-order bride going to Broken Wheel, Colorado, to marry a stranger sets this tale on its journey.

The plot will have Georgina learning that Brick Larson married one of the saloon girls before she could arrive, and that sets her off into a catfight with Sadie. With no funds, nowhere to go, she will be in jail. When Stuart comes back in town, it includes Addie, a cow, and family items. He needs to find a family for Addie—or has the answer come by marrying instead? Learning about Georgina, making her an offer she accepts, he is now a family man.

The story is a mystery, with suspense, a touch of danger, and romance. Georgina and Stuart make plans to make a good and happy home for Addie. They are compatible with each other and are turning the ranch into a home. What a shock when family members start coming to visit with no actual notice. Sometimes when people are no longer in their usual element, they see things in a different light—and two sisters will have their moments, but in a crisis, learn what is essential.

The story has the good, the bad, and the evil of people. I love the chemistry between Stuart and Georgina and how sweet they both are with Addie. They start the adoption process immediately, and along with the ranch foreman, Buster, they are a happy little family. As the ranch is growing, that will bring in more cowboys to help—and with trouble heading their way, they will need it. The story has moments of suspense and danger as good wins over evil.

Stuart (book#10)

The books in this series have been outstanding. Each one has uniqueness and is interesting from start to finish. Stuart and Georgina were special. Stuart rescued Addie, 18 month old daughter, of a mother and dad who had been shot and killed. When he finally arrived in Broken Springs, he discovered Georgina in jail. He needed a wife and she needed a husband. A must read, you will not be sorry.

What a wonderful cover. This is such a delightful and sweet story. I love how the author brought Stuart and Georgina together. So fun. And then how they learn to work together. And little Addie just makes the whole story complete. Wonderful supporting characters. Now I need to go and look up more from this series.

Very good

This was a very good read. Georgina is from a wealth family in the East and Stuart is a Bounty hunter in the West. She is a mail order bride for another and he only want to run his ranch. How things change in a matter of time. This was a very well written book with twists and turns with a few surprises in it. I’m sure I will reread this book in the future. Love it.

Lovely mix of humor and romance

Sweet little love story. I was engaged from the beginning. There are a few minor edits needed but a very satisfying story. The characters are well-rounded and the action entertaining. Love the sprinkling of humor throughout. Ending is satisfying. Definitely worth re-reading.

A pleasing read

This book has plenty of action, drama, danger and of course love! There is even a "cat" fight and moments of laughter. You'll enjoy getting to know Stuart, the bounty hunter turned rancher; his city girl wife from Baltimore; daughter Addie; people in Broken Wheel, ranch hands and life in the West!
