Charlotte is a professional matchmaker. She’s at the wedding of two people she matched, when she runs into a man named Joe. She apologizes and they have a short conversation. The next couple of days, both of them haven’t forgotten each other but don’t expect to ever see each other again. Charlotte was pleasantly surprised to see Joe again and that he recognizes her. Charlotte and Joe met each other again multiple times and they grow closer every time.
Joe is rich and a little closed off. He isn’t really enjoying nor loving his life. A tragic accident in his past still affects his life and he can’t forget about it. Joe doesn’t do commitment. He just goes from one woman to the next. But that changes after knowing Charlotte better. He thinks she’s gorgeous and he likes spending time with her. Joe loves it that she doesn’t realize who he really is and he wants to keep it that way for a little while. Charlotte makes Joe want things he never thought he would ever want again.
Charlotte is friendly, caring, sweet, independent and loving. She loves her job and she’s so happy that her boss gave her that opportunity. She’s great at it. She matches people who seem unlikely to match but they will fall in love. Charlotte wasn’t really looking for love when she meets Joe. She’s definitely attracted to him. I loved Joe and Charlotte together.
The Client is my first Pamela DuMond read and it won’t be my last. I loved it. I enjoyed it a lot. It was fun, beautiful and a little touching. I adored Joe and Charlotte. This book also has some amazing secondary characters. Joe’s grandmother is so funny and she only wants the best for her grandson.

This is the first book I've read by this author and I'm just getting started after this read. I loved Joe and Charlotte they were quirky, funny, sexy and hot as hell together. I was so captivated by their story I couldn't put my kindle down and neither will you. This read had me laughing, shedding a few tears and enraptured by the steamy sex so be prepared for one hell of a hot ride.

'The Client' by Pamela DuMond is the story of Charlotte and Joe.
Charlotte is a match maker who made a great match that got her name out there. While at the wedding party she ran into Joe and it was a wet encounter. Joe had drinks in his hands and she ended up getting her dress ruined. Charlotte did give him her first name but that was it. They ran into each other again a the Gym where Charlotte was given a pass. Joe started working their after he had an accident and when his Grandmother, Marte Delacroix told him to work there. Joe is very close to his 83 year old grandmother and she is actually a very funny busy body. I really enjoyed the grandmother character.
Joe hasn't been in a relationship in a long time other than his quickies at the Library aisle. They are both attracted to each other and this builds into something more.
I really enjoyed their story and will be looking for more books by Ms. DuMond.

The Client was the first book in the Playing Dirty series by Pamela DuMond. It was also my first book by the author. I received a complimentary copy for an honest review.
Charlotte Louise Bauer was a struggling assistant at the White Glove Matchmaking agency. She was pretty, smart, funny, loyal and feisty. She had just pulled off the match of the year and was well on her way to more success with hopes for financial stability.
Joe Delacroix was heir to the Delacroix fortune. He was gorgeous, funny, loyal to his grandmother and totally guarded for any other relationships.
The Client was told in dual POV. DuMond provided humor from the onset with Joe and Charlotte’s initial meeting. She then painted the picture for each life, intermingling the two. We learned early that Joe had obviously experienced a tragedy and loss. We suspect that Charlotte may have some baggage as well. DuMond slowly revealed their past hang ups through scattered flashbacks weaved among the present. Ultimately the past and present collided to round out the full storyline.
It was a fairly quick read with dimension and depth. I was hooked on the story from the beginning to the end, enjoying both Joe and Charlotte tremendously. I did, however, feel that once the pasts crossed the present, there should have been more fleshed out to the story. The conflict was immediate and over quickly, yet in reality would have needed some additional attention, so it felt a little glossed over. It also had some editing errors; however, as an ARC copy, I assume those were corrected for print and was not a consideration in my overall rating.
All in all, I thoroughly enjoyed it and felt it was a great start to a new series. DuMond also set the stage well for her next series book, The Matchmaker. It will focus on the lovely Violet Accardi, the mob boss’s niece.

This is my first Pamela DuMond book, but I will not be stopping here. Wow! She has a unique writing style that keeps you sucked in.
I didn't want this romance to end.
Joe is perfect. I mean, if there's ever been a perfect character, this guy is it. He's sweet, kind, heartbroken, and sexy as sin.
He's also rich. Did I mention that?
Charlotte is an up and coming matchmaker. She's sweet, kind, strong, and gorgeous.
She's also hiding from her crazy ex.
These two meet by chance, but then find themselves in several situations after the initial encounter. It's a whole slew of meet-cutes and I loved each one. Yes, I know you can really only have one meetcute, but whatever. Charlotte didn't know who Joe was. It was fun to watch that development. Fun to watch her shock and surprised.
Even better when his grandmother hired her to set him up with someone.
Love, laughter, sexy-times, and fun are all here. There's a twist and there are turns and you're going to enjoy each one.

From the minute Charlotte & Joe met, I was excited for their story and couldn't wait to see how the story turned. The plot twist was awesome, and along with the witty, and at times laugh-out-loud banter, and low drama, made for interesting and fun reading.
The cast of characters is a good one. From Charlotte's zany workmates to Joe's equally quirky grandma & her friends.
This is my first Pamela DuMond novel, and I'm already looking forward to the next in the series.

Despite the cover (which strikes me as a dark read), The Client is listed as a Rom-Com. So was it funny? Definitely! Especially in the first half of the book, I laughed out loud quite a few times. Lines like:
I was in Rom-Com heaven with all the witty banter between them, not to mention the great chemistry. Plus, Joe's grandmother was a hoot, and Charlotte's clients (she's a matchmaker) and their problems were so well-written and entertaining.
Everything was great until I came to the dreaded chapter heading: Three Years Ago. Now I knew for a fact that Joe didn't know Charlotte three years ago, so this was not going to be about them. But it was fine, I totally handled it like a pro - the flashback may have been about a former girlfriend, but it was giving me insight into Joe's current mindset . . . right? And the reader also gets flashbacks from Charlotte's past, so there was equal opportunity annoyance going on, and the author was going somewhere with this . . . . right?
Meanwhile, Joe and Charlotte's relationship is moving along, and I start to realize that Joe is a bit of a dick - and he's killing the romance for me. I mean why would he (these are spoilers specific to the plot - enter at your own risk) No matter if his inner thoughts gave the impression that he was really into Charlotte, his actions and words left a bad taste in my mouth.
Then as the end of the story comes closer, the reason for the flashbacks becomes apparent. I have to say that I really appreciated what the author tried to do by giving Joe and Charlotte an unknown, 'deeper' connection - but unfortunately, it fell flat for me. Because while the flashbacks did shed some light on the main characters and their pasts, they weren't connected to their relationship in the present - except in the most obvious way. The 'deep' turned out to be extremely shallow.
But wait! It's not all bad! Pamela DuMond is funny and the prose flowed nicely. Because I'm objecting to content instead of style, I can still recommend this one. If you aren't bothered by the same things I am, you can enjoy the laughs - this one has them in spades!

I wasn't sure as much what to expect from this book as I requested it from NetGalley as I am a fan of Pamela DuMond's books. I loved this book despite it being a subject that has been written about numerous times. I fell in love with the character Charlotte and enjoyed the partnering with Joe Delacroix too. The other thing I loved was the fact that Joe has a Masters in Library studies, as a librarian myself I loved that Joe was a book lover. The book started off at a wedding where Charlotte mistook Joe for a waiter after he spilled the scotch he was carrying on her and sparks flew. Later Charlotte who works for a matchmaking company is given Joe Delacroix's profile as his grandmother thinks he needs a perfect match. The thing is that Charlotte is head over heels for Joe and vice versa, but dating him is breaking one of Charlotte's number one rules - no dating the Clients. As the book goes on, we learn about Joe and Charlotte's past, and just as they get closer, we discover that their past and the worst moments of their lives are in fact intertwined. Can Joe and Charlotte work out their differences or will this be another relationship for Joe and Charlotte that is over before it has even begun sprouting ?
Find out in this fast-paced romantic comedy/ suspense that draws readers in from the very first meeting of Joe and Charlotte.

This is the first book that I have read by Pamela DuMond and it definitely will not be my last. The Client was such a great story.
Charlotte is an up and coming matchmaker. When her and Joe first meet she is attending her first successful match's wedding. They run into each other, literally, run into each other and it turns out to be a very wet experience. After their first initial encounter they meet a few more times when involving Joe's grandmother, Marte, a spunky take no prisoner 83 year old woman. Sparks fly between the two but when Marte hire's Charlotte to find the perfect match for Joe, Charlotte puts her feelings on hold. As the story continues and the two grow closer you find that their pasts and worst experiences in life are actually entwined.
I loved the chemistry between Charlotte and Joe. From the moment they met you could tell that they were perfect for each other. Their back and forth banter was witty and funny and I could not wait to hear what they had to say next.

Awe, I was not expecting it to come together like it did towards the end. Fantastic!! It all makes sense in such a way that causes oohs, ahs, gasps and tears.
Oh and I'll never think of Marco Polo the same lol.!!!!
Charolette is such a fiesty lovable character. I giggled at some of her responses to people.
Joe's what every mom hopes her son turns out to be. Strong, Successful, Smart with a heart of gold. Hes just Scrumptious.
Marta is the coolest grandma anyone could wish to have. Ever!!!
If you want a great feel good read with HEA than go grab this book!!

This was my first book by this author, and it was so fun! I was a little worried because the "complication" from the blurb -not a spoiler- came into play later than I had realized. And I put "than I had realized" and not "than I wanted" because the pace of the plot was really ideal. You didn't realize how far you had gotten in the book, unless you were keeping tabs. The characters were fun and the dialogue between them worked so well. You were never left guessing or wanting for any details. The side characters were a joy; perfect comic relief without ever overshadowing the main folks. Overall, an awesome read. *** provided a copy in exchange for an honest review ***

“Awfully sorry about that.” He removed his hand and stared down at my chest. “Lovely, really. Warm. Soft.”
“What?”
“Your breast. From the quick time we’ve spent together I can tell they’re real. Shocking in today’s world.”
Joe sometimes has a one track mind, “I’m single. You’re single. And you haven’t set me up with anyone that will take my mind off you.” I really liked this book, it was a great heartfelt read.

A Fantastic RomCom! Ms. DuMond has written a great storyline with characters that, if you could, you’d just want to hang out with and call them friends. The main characters are funny, lighthearted and so deserving of a second chance at love and life and the minor characters, like Joe’s grandma and Charlotte's clients are a hoot and a half.
The story itself will keep you grinning, laughing and rooting for a happy ending. This was a great story!! Fun and sexy..I enjoyed Charlotte and Joe's banter and from the first meeting onwards it made me smile and cheer for them.
I adored Joe's grandma, bless her nosy heart lol
If this is the kind of stories I can look forward to, I will def be reading more from this author!

Well, has it ever happened to you or anyone you know really well, while setting them up with someone, you kinda wanna set yourself up with em instead! It hasn’t? Okay that’s weird 😳!
Well, our heroine, is a happy go lucky, resilient, and “I get knocked down, but I get up again” kinda girl and our hero is a romantic at heart, a fluffy bunny, even though he doesn’t let it show too often now. They have a chance meeting, and “puff” sparks fly. Even though they don’t initially know who or what the other person is, and even when they get to know as to who and what the other person is, there are barriers that need to be overcome, be them emotional or work related.
This is a story that’s both funny and raw without being too melodramatic. It tells us how two people, who are destined to be together, will eventually find their way back to each other, even when there are a few bumps and hiccups along the way. It shows how, two people who are “bent not broken” in their own way, still try and lead a normal life and somehow heal each other without a conscious thought or action.
I’d recommend to anyone who loves romance and comedy and prefer a low drama and mellowed angst read.

I gave this book 4 stars. It was a short and sweet romance that I was completely engaged in.
For someone who reads a lot of romance novels, romances have gotten a bit stale. I’ve gotten into this rut where I can’t seem to enjoy a romance without some sort of exciting plot line intertwined with it. This has been the first romance novel in a long time that I have actually really enjoyed. I felt a renewed enjoyment of this romance.
The humour was there, it wasn’t just everyone saying it was funny and maybe having a one liner or two, it was a genuinely funny book. The characters were easy to love. Joe was sexy and adorable, he had an amazing personality.
I felt like the ending was a bit crunched, it was resolved a bit too easily for my taste, I would have liked it to have been a bit longer with more of a work through of the conflict and maybe a confrontation or two. Possibly some sort of justice for the characters, but we didn’t get that. i’m not too upset about that, but i would have really liked to have had that extra layer.
This book is for every romance lover who enjoys a sexy, cute and flirty dynamic between two characters. Would definitely recommend giving it a read.

This was the first book by Pamela DuMond that I have read. I received an ARC of the book and volunteered to review it. And I have to say, I am so, so glad that I did! I absolutely loved the book! It was sexy and steamy, but the story itself was captivating. There was love and humor and heartbreak and tenderness. This book just had everything!
And I loved the characters! Pamela did such a fantastic job of making them come to life. They were just so "real". The plot twists and full circle of the story made it simply magnificent. I seriously couldn't put it down. Now I'm impatiently waiting for The Matchmaker. I enjoyed her writing so much, that I'm going to start I another of her series right now!

This is my first book by Pamela DuMont and it won’t be the last. Joe Delacroix is depressed and can’t seem to see any beauty in life since he lost the love of his life in a tragic accident. Charlotte Bauer is a matchmaker who is starting over in Chicago after leaving her family behind and a broken relationship. Their story is real, their journey intense, but the end result is so much sweeter. Pamela will draw you into the characters lives and take you on a rollercoaster ride of epic proportions. This is a beautiful love story that will keep you enthralled from the first to the last page wanting more.

This is the first book in the Playing Dirty series and also the first time I’ve read a book from this author. The blurb really piqued my interest and I just couldn’t wait to read it. I was laughing out loud so many times, it’s hilarious. Charlotte and Joe really were meant for each other and I adored his Grandmother, Marte. This really was a feel good, well written story that although had me laughing it also had me shedding a few tears too. Throw in all that steamy stuff and it’s most definitely a read that I’d highly recommend.

This is the first book I have read from this author and I loved it. I enjoyed reading Joe and Charlotte's story. I think it was well written. I loved the storyline and the characters. The chemistry between the two characters is explosive and love the banter. I like that it's told from both points of views. Once I started reading this I couldn't put it down. Can't wait to read more from this author and this series.

Loved it! This was the first book that I have read by Pamela and it will not be my last! The storyline was captivating and very entertaining. I absolutely adored the characters. The character development was very good! The banter between Charlotte and Joe was hilarious! I loved Charlotte's feistiness and Joe was so sweet and sexy! If you are looking for light, sexy and captivating read then I highly suggest this book! Looking forward to reading more from this author!!

I always love me a lighthearted, funny story with likeable characthers and good writing style, so The Client by Pamela DuMond was just my kind of book.
Both Charlotte and Joe won me with their personality, and Joe's grandmother was my secret favorite, gotta love a quirky old lady working her magic in the background.
Pamela's writing was very enjoyable, I look forward to read from her again!

Joe on the surface is an easy-going guy, who lives a pretty nice, and comfortable life with pretty girls for one night only - your typical man whore, but he also had his sweety moments. But under all that is a man hunted by his past. Charlotte is a starting match-maker in Chicago, also she's cute, strong and resourceful, and she also had some troubles in her life. So when crazy circumstances and one determined Grandma combine these two together you just wait for the hot romance and a funny disaster.
I was in the mood for something lighter, and funnier, so after reading the synopsis for this one I've decided to pick it up. The story was pretty funny, and had it's share of some cliché moments. I had some issues with how the main characters acted , but overall it was a solid read with a bit more serious plot that I expected, but pretty interesting.
