Strand is on top form with the Wolf Hunt trilogy, the central messages of which seem to be that a) Werewolves are dicks, and b) If something can go wrong it will go catastrophically wrong. Especially where George and Lou are concerned. These two thugs for hire are wonderful creations, hard as nails, funny as hell and apparently destined to always get the raw end of whatever deal they're roped into.
By turns laugh out loud funny, chilling and wince indducingly violent, Wolf Hunt and its sequels are grade A fare for the discerning horror fan. A lot less extreme than my usual reads, but no less entertaining and enjoyable for it. Not to mention that in Ivan Spinner Strand delivered one all time great bastard of a villain. Hell I almost rooted for him to come out on top here and there, despite his being a sadistic serial killing werewolf. The twists and turns of later books are just as good, but the best moments are when we get to spend time with George, Lou and Ivan and enjoy some fantastic dialogue. Top notch stuff, as always get it in your eyes.
