Nemesis: (n) the cause of someone’s ruin…

Eli King. Gorgeous and magnetic. My father’s protégé. Has everything that should have been mine.
I hate him, while he doesn’t even know I exist.
Until daddy dearest decides to make amends for abandoning illegitimate ole’ me.
By making Eli and me co-heirs to his ten billion empire.

He’s 31, condescending, overbearing, entitled, and so not the sharing type.
Co-heirs? Hard pass.
But I’m 19, alone, broke, and desperately in need of a fresh start.
Even if it means cutting a deal with Eli behind my father’s back.
Eli will make sure I always have money, and I won't stake a claim to his precious throne.
We both get what we want. Easy peasy.

Then the selfish jerk kisses me. Hot and hard.
And somehow my stupid body submits greedily to his demanding touch.
My traitorous nightmares leave me alone when he lingers, scowling but attentive.
Hidden beneath his cold blue eyes, I discover the warmth of the sun.

But none of it matters. Avoiding complicated men like him is literally my life’s mission.
Because my father was my mother’s nemesis, and I refuse to let Eli King be mine.

Deep romance is my soul food, dirty talking (also plenty of cussing) heroes my kryptonite, and take-no-prisoners heroines my staple. I love the rush of bringing two strong characters together in a happily-ever-after. My books are sprinkled with humor, sharp wit, just enough angst to not be too much, and heart melting passion.
I spend my days cooking up steamy plots, traveling, managing a toddler who thinks he's an adult, and an adult who behaves like a toddler.

I realize publishers & authors need ARC readers to give them their opinions & a bit of push, but what about honesty? If you only cater to readers who want to kiss butt, you will never understand what the majority of us readers (especially ones that don't do reviews) want & expect from a fictional romance. And in case I am not making it clear, that means a Hero who keeps it in his pants!

There is nothing entertaining reading about a "hero" who has to f**k OW in order to forget heroine! That trope is getting old and it is a guarantee to turn readers like me off for good!

So no, I will not read this crap and thank you to my good friends for being honest and saving me the aggravation! 👏

wow I absolutely loved this book.
It started a bit slow but very quickly gained pace. Once it had grabbed my attention it refused to let me go. I couldn't put the book down until I had read the final page. I stayed up til late to finish it.
Ariel is the daughter of a mother who hates her existence. Ariel has had a rough life. She gets contacted by Eli who works for her father's company and is set to inherit the company in due course. Ariel father refused to accept her when she was little.
Ariel father wants to make amends and wants her in his life.
He asks both Eli and Ariel to become partners in the business. This causes problems in their lives.
How will both Eli and Ariel Cole with this change and what will this mean for their futures?
I loved how the characters were fleshed out right from the beginning. Their pasts and the lives they were currently living was explained. It helps you to understand why they react the way they do at certain times. If this wasn't know beforehand then I don't think the reactions and behaviours would have made sense.
I loved both Eli and Ariel as individuals and as a couple.
Their witty banter was hilarious and made me laugh so much.
I was sad to see the book end and to leave the lives of Ariel and Eli. I wonder if Scotty will get a book of his own.
Thank you for a fabulous book

Eli and Ariel grew up on totally "different sides of the tracks" in life....very different sides. One was spoiled and arrogant, one was denied and treated as the reason for every wrong to happen. However, the one reason behind everything that has made them the person they are today is one man, and what he is offering after his demise.

From the start there is drama, both what they bring into the mix from before, and what they seem to deny from each other. Heartbreak from being denied leads for the win. Feeling that you are losing something you thought was yours but never really was....yet comes in a close second. Despite all the trials given for Eli and Ariel to face, they seem to find out once they figure out it is better to work together and allow the feelings they have for one another to blossom, it is doable and quite frankly better than they had hoped for.

This book has a slower beginning, but I feel that was done in order for you to feel what the characters are feeling, which comes through very loud and clear. It has a lot of twists and turns that keep you on the edge of your seat hoping for something to happen, and when it does happen it is full steam ahead. This is a book that you will never feel like you know what is going to happen next, but that doesn't make it a bad thing, actually it is good, helping you see things through each characters eyes and lives.

Okay, so I'm new to Goodreads. This book actually showed up in a search somewhere for me and I checked out the GR reviews and I'm so so confused about the OW crap that some negative reviews mention. I almost didn't read this gem thanks to the haters. BUT I'm SO SO glad I did. And let me tell you why.
1. H doesn't actually sleep with OW. At All. In the whole book. Ever. And honestly, he could have. Not like they met and fell in love immediately. This is a freaking E2L for crap's sake. Stop being prudes, people. What do you expect? For him to become a monk when he meets h?
2. The chemistry. Gah, the chemistry. Every time they're in the same space, Eli and Ariel--Jesus these two could incinerate my Kindle.
3. This author has a serious knack for bringing the sweet with the dirty. I went and checked out her other book Straight-A and wow.
4. I could not put it down. Seriously--I was reading up till 3 am and I was pissed when I was done. I want more. More more more.
5. No unnecessary angst. No contrived bad guys. Just regular people in strange circumstances. Love love love that. Too many authors today make every possible trope fit into one doozy of a story and this is not that. I get every single character and why they acted the way they did.
Ahem, to the people who don't like H sleeping with OW trope, what book did you read?

After reading a few of the reviews, I was really concerned about an OW factor ... I am here to tell you that there is hardly an issue. I've read other books where the FMC has already been with the main character sexually a few times and walks in on him getting his dick sucked or whatever by another chick. Nothing like that happens in this one and I was glad for it. I loved watching the character development of Eli and watching Ariel blossom into a strong young woman figuring out who she is. I will say I don't necessarily think I would call this an enemies to lovers romance though. 🤔 The characters seemed to be aware of their attraction and somewhat accepting of it.
I loved this book enough to purchase it after reading on KU so I can read it whenever I want. This author has definitely caught my attention and her other books are on my TBR.

PS - was anyone else kind of wanting Selena to be Scotty's secret girlfriend at the end? Idk why but the thought just popped up in my head while I was reading it lol

Was expecting good things after reading Straight A and this did not disappoint! Oooh the angst! 🙌
So Ariel- at first I was like urgh another virgin. But nay nay, we did not have ourselves a cliche bumbling 19 year old. I can not express enough how much we need more female characters that are not infantilised and that’s what really stands out for me with this author- this girl was straight up no BS and no frustrating over used plot lines.
Eli- yum. The dirty talk 🤤🤤he’s not an easy one to sum up and that’s what I likeeee. He made me snigger and swoon and that’s all we want right? So there is a scene with another woman (I actually like that in books sometimes) but there is no cheating or other woman drama. His sole focus was Ariel. He needed her to call him out on his 💩 sometimes but no man is 100% perfect (I’m here for the drama). A domineering Alpha that makes a point of consent, yay.
Would recommend 👍
And to the Author- I personally would love to see some darker reads, I think you could ace that 👀🤞

Loooooooove!! I'm not sure why one review mentions that the hero is a manwhore. He literally sleeps with no one other than the h after he meets her. This is in fact one of the few books that shows that transition really well--of H Eli not wanting to/ not being able to sleep with anyone else after meeting Ariel. Their chemistry was electric and Eli frustrated me at times, but the fleshing out of the character in the beginning was incredible. There's an actual reason he doesn't trust on rely on anyone and how Ariel changes that is amazing...the steamy scenes...Christ...I need a cold shower!! This is my new one click author!

I loved this story and enjoyed the writing of Maya Rose. Eli and Aerial's interactions were so real and I was able to feel the intensity between them from the beginning to end. All the characters were so well written that once I finished the story, I feel like I have lost friends. It was a great love story and I am looking forward to more stories from Maya Rose. Awesome story!

#dysfunctionalromance

WHY ISN'T THIS GETTING MORE LOVE?? It was really hot!!! I saw several 1 star reviews, but don't mind them. Dive into this knowing that the MMC starts off as an alpha-hole but soon becomes wrapped around a strong yet vulnerable woman's pinkie. Their chemistry was off the charts, this was some pretty good smut.

ELI grew up in a dysfunctional rich family, so you can understand his entitled behaviour and after some shit went down, he's only learnt to protect himself, be selfish and doesn't care for anyone. Even his affection to his only brother goes so far. He's not bad, just uncaring and detached from other human beings. I get it. He uses women like a revolving door, so that's probably where all the 1 stars came from. The man had zero shame, heart or decency, and that only makes it sweeter when he falls.

I ate up that shit when Eli started having heart palpitations and bad reactions towards the warm fuzzy feelings he gets around Ariel.

OF COURSE, I wasn't too psyched that a man who'd probably fucked more than a 100 beautiful women suddenly seemed awe-struck and mind blown when he first met ARIEL (heroine syndrome) but I'll bite.

Not sure what people found annoying about Ariel but I liked the balance of snarky but vulnerable. She may be young, but she had to grow up fast, so she's pretty streetwise. Eli was an asshole, but she didn't let him walk all over her. Yes, she loses sometimes, but I think her personality and vulnerability yet hidden strength were the reasons why Eli's walls came crumbling down. Some can argue there wasn't enough incentive, but I liked it enough.

OVERALL if you like a really HOT, SEXUALLY CHARGED romance where the characters hate each other but go at it like energizer bunnies surrounded with a boat-load of angst? This will be purrrfect for you.

Plenty to like, but . . .

There's plenty to like here. Unfortunately, there really was more sex than story. I'm certainly not opposed to a good dose of heat, but this was a little too much IMO, and it overshadowed the story.

Both MCs had their share of tough times growing up, and there definitely was chemistry between them. I really liked Ariel's spunkiness, but there were some times when Eli was a jerk. In the end though, Eli's true character emerged and the conclusion of the story was very good.

3.5 stars for this better than just average tale.

The exclamation marks!! Why were there so many exclamation marks!!!

Anyway, I hated the hero and heroine and the dad as well because they all pretty much sucked and didn't have a personality. Also damn girl, how did the heroine have such LITTLE backbone????

Read it all, skipped a few chaps, this author's alphas are not for me.
