2.5This story had so much potential. Good story but the execution was not good. I will read part two just to see what happens. Asha and Sebastián met in college. He was the hot Joc but an injury derailed his career. He and Asha were married after college. She did everything he wanted. She was the perfect wife but Sebastián perfect house of cards soon start to fall.
First let me say this book was GOOD !! i so wanted to beat Alexia and Sebastian like a runaway slave 👊🏿 , Dallas had them tho because she glowed up on them and let them watch !!! BLAZE was everything I mean he asked how he could serve her , he's IT !! All I got to say is if Alexia come for Blaze Dallas better give her a Texas size beat down !!!!
Moral: the grass ain't always greener on the other side
I was not a fan of Bash from the beginning. He didn't want a wife he wanted someone he could control and Asha allowed him to do just that. I'm glad she found herself and didn't settle for the lies. Asharia went through a lot and she never let it break her..
I have a lot to say but can't say it because the thoughts swarming around in my are going a hundred miles per hour. I ABSOLUTELY LOVE THESE CHARACTERS! This book was so good that this author makes me want to kick myself in my own donkey. I loved how things turned out. Just when I thought the story was about to end, she fed me more. Full is not the word for how I'm feeling. Honey, I've been cussing, snapping, yelling, crying, laughing, smiling, and talking plenty of sugar honey ice tea! I don't understand how you would take a good person for granted? A selfish one I suppose. The grass is not always greener on the other side. When Dallaa brought out the bat, I was looking for a reincarnation of Beyonce's Hold Up video lol. Lexi and Bas deserves everything evil coming their way. If Lexi wrecks havoc in part 2, I swear im jumping through the book. Blaze is everything Dallas didnt know she needed. It still amazes me that what's for us be right up under our noses but we can't see it. Simply put, there are a lot of blessings out here for us, but its not in our reach because we're not ready for it. We have to be prepared and ready for the enormous blessings God be ready to give us or it will comsume us. Amazing read Aubreé!
I am at a loss for words with how this book broke me down but restored me at the same time. For romance you had a way of bring Asharia’s pain to life that made it become my burden to share with her. I felt it in my body and in my heart and that is true art
Years from now when people talk about prolific writers who changed the face of black romance, Aubree Pynn will be a part of that conversation. This book is proof of that!
This was my first book I read by this author. I enjoyed the story. The issues and feelings were identifiable and the ending was happy for Asharia. The mistakes were excessive so I hope the author will work on that.
This book was different than most of the romance books I have been reading lately. I thought it would focus only on the love interests, Blaze and Asharia. I was surprised when I saw that it included Bas and Alexia's perspectives (the ex and the best friend). And There was only two chapters (I think) from Blaze's perspective. I thought I wouldn't like it, but I think this made the book interesting. I only wish we had gotten more of Asharia and Blaze's relationship. A lot of the things that happened between them, we were told about and not shown. It feels like, as a reader, I missed a lot of details, but it is just that the author did not give us those details. While I do like Blaze and Asharia together, I think the fact that we were not shown a lot of what happened between them, it was a bit hard to truly feel their chemistry. It was there, but it could have been way better. For example, I wanted to know a bit more about their friendship during college, to show us and not just tell us that the signs of their love were always there. They got together and the next part, they were already married and she is pregnant. I wanted to see the development of all those things. It took a lot of the "magic" from the story. So it is not as good as it could have been.

Dallas was a good woman, good person, good wife, good friend and good daughter. She cared for people and acted accordingly. There wasn’t any doubt that she had a big heart, was loyal, and genuine.
The husband was all about the optics. What made him look good, perfect wife, perfect couple, perfect house, just perfect. When he was anything but. He was a liar. He lied to himself and others.
What happens when the blinders come off, life happens and everything isn’t what it seems. When situations drive you to question yourself, your sanity and your relationships. Do you just go along with the lies, or do you bring it all to the light? Do you move on and how?
This book was so good. I liked the character development and the storyline. I wanted to beat the brakes off of some of them, hug others, and hi five Dorothy and Blanche. The book did leave me wondering about the cleanup woman at the end. She had me thinking she still hadn’t learned her lesson about jealousy.
Great read! Aubree hasn’t written a book I didn’t like. She’s killing it!
Damn AP! You did that honey! When Bas met Dallas, I thought it seemed odd that he would pursue her. Being that she was so shy, and him being the "big man" on campus. But, he was scheming even then! Getting the good girl that he wanted still wasn't enough for his dog ass! Alexia! I felt something was off about her, and her friendship with Dallas right from the start. But you could not have paid me to believe she would do her girl like that! I mean this heifer continued a whole friendship, while getting too close to her friends husband! Just a snake! 😈 I was devastated for Dallas! I could feel her pain, anger, rage then resolve! She handled that situation with class, and walked away with her head held high. Reuniting with Blaze was so beautiful to see. This was a man who understood the assignment! He would cherish his queen, where Bas fumbled her heart. I got a feeling that evil bih Alexia is still plotting, and is up to no good! Can't wait to jump right into part 2 and check it out! Great read! 👍👍👍
Sebastian (Bas) and Asharia were introduced to each other in college by her BFF Alexia. Years later Asharia and Bas are happily married, so Asharia thought. Bas had secrets and when they finally came to light, she wanted out. What Asharia didnt expect was to run into another college friend, Blaze, she hadn't seen in years and there friendship turn into more. Bas was a piece of work and felt the world owed him everything and he never wanted to her no. He really didnt deserve Asharia and I was glad when she left him. Asharia had questions about what she did wrong for him to have done what he did. Asharia and Blaze started their friendship again, but Blaze wanted more and was there for Asharia when she was ready. This story was a rollercoaster ride, it had secrets, lies, deceit and unforgivable acts. I was pulled in from the beginning and had to finish it. I wonder what will happen next!!! As always a great book by Aubree Pynn.
I want to start off by saying that Sebastian was a selfish bastard. Before Aubree fully revealed to us all that his ass was doing in the dark he was already showing with his actions and inner thoughts that he never really loved Asha. He wanted a trophy that he could sit on the shelf, merely an object something he could have complete control over. I was on the edge of my seat waiting for Asha to finally put the pieces together and relieved when she finally did. What I found most amusing is how both Sebastian and Alexia acted so selfishly in what they felt like they wanted and what they felt like they were owed but once they both got it neither one of their asses were satisfied 🙄 Lesson being the grass isn’t always greener on the other side or as Aunt Leslie likes to say it’s not even watered 😂
Now this was a good book!! About grown folks and for grown folks. Just don't be so grown that you think you can treat folks any kind of way and they won't clap back. Bas was an egotistical, selfish fool to not realize that he had a good thing with his wife. Asharia may have been too passive and a little naive but she loved with all she had in her. To be betrayed the way she was, I'm glad she allowed no second chances. And when she bowed out, she did so gracefully because she knew Karma would handle that. I knew from the jump that Blaze was the one for her, hey, but sometimes we have to go through things. I soooo enjoyed this read. Better editing would make this a solid five star read. Can't wait to get to the finale.
I really enjoyed this story I’m so happy for Asha and Blazey they deserve the love they share. Ole girl and Sebastian need karma to come kick them in the butt for the way they did Asha.
The author wrote the book in a way that the characters developed effortlessly, especially Asha. Watching her character grow and strengthen was really amazing. She went from just Sebastian’s wife to strong black queen in a beautiful transition. Despite how broken she was after Sebastians infidelity. It’s hard to find story’s where the female character go from naive to a wise woman, that was taught life lessons. The author did an amazing job conveying Asha before and after her life’s hardships. This was a five star read for sure.
Baby that Sebastian and Alexia were something else
I'm sorry. Asharia took being submissive to your husband to another level. There's a difference between being submissive and being controlled. I really thought in the beginning that they were the illusion of a perfect couple. One thing I pray is that I don't have any friends like Alexia. Who needs enemies when you have someone like her around. I truly admired Blaze being there for Asharia and giving her what she lacked in her marriage to Sebastian. I can't wait for part 2 because clearly Alexia still hasn't learned her lesson. Or maybe karma hasn't hit her hard enough yet.
My goodness! Yet another well-written title by Aubreé Pynn! 💃🏽😍👍🏽 Sebastian had me pissed 😠 Seeing his prototype let me know just what type of spoiled, man-child he REALLY was. They're always the 1s who go after the good girls just because they can. Boy, was I glad when Asha found out about them and left. If I was her, though, I would have found old girl, conveniently blacked out and bashed her head down to the white meat, too 😊🤷 But, as always, the cooler heads prevailed and were blessed beyond their wildest dreams while the cheaters got what they wanted & deserved. Can't wait to read Part 2
This was a lot to digest. This book was a whole lot of trifling. The betrayal of trust, you jealous friend. Whew. I thought Bas's pursuit of Dallas when they first met seemed strange. Due to her shyness and his status as the campus' "hot shot ," Yet, he was planning even then! Even though he got the good girl he desired, it wasn't enough to satisfy his dog ass! Alexia! Her and her friendship with Dallas immediately gave me the impression that something was awry. But you could not have bought my belief that she would treat her girl in that manner! I mean, this heifer kept their connection going strong while being too close to her friend's spouse! It's only a snake! I felt awful for Dallas! Her suffering, indignation, and resolve were all palpable to me. She handled the circumstance impeccably and left with her head held high. Being reunited with Blaze was such a lovely sight. This dude knew what he was supposed to do! Where Bas messed up her heart, he would treasure his queen. This book truly teachers you the lesson that everybody you call friend isn’t your friend and you should always keep your eyes open. Dallas was really venting to Alexia and she used it as pillow talk when she was with Bas. She really wanted to be Dallas and that killed her in every way. Can’t wait to see her karma cause I know for sure Bas is her karmic partner.
The nerve of Aubree Pynn to take me through all these feelings lol. I really enjoyed this read and was happy that Asha ended up with a true King because her ex husband and her little mistress deserve nothing in life. In the beginning Asha worked my nerves but by the end, I was so happy to see her growth. My favorite character outside of my bae Blaze was her aunt and mom. They had me cracking up. Personally I would love to see a little more from Blaze and Asha in the future! Great job Aubree Pynn with another romance!
Just a phenomenal read I couldn’t put down once I started reading..Sebastian and Alexia is trash through and through and they both got off easy compared to what they deserved but Asha was a gentle soul and she got her blessings back ten fold with Blaze... Blaze #bookbae was just amazing from beginning to end I love the way he loved her...I loved the Golden Girls especially Auntie she was hilarious...Definitely a spectacular read more than just five stars and I can’t wait to read the wrap up
4 ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ .5 stars! Asharia has the perfect life. She married her high school sweetheart, Sebastian, she is an entrepreneur owning three hair salons along with creating hair products and her husband works in the medical field. Asha’s best friend, Alexia comes to visit and she is she is jealous of Bas’s and Asha’s relationship and she wants her life with her man. Asha finds out about their affair and it goes downhill from there until a blast from their past, comes to town and this changes everything in Asha’s world. Great book and highly recommend.

I'm so in love with Blaze and Asharia and she really deserves to be happy after the way her ex-husband, Sebastian, and ex-best friend, Alexia, did her. Blaze always loved Asharia when they met in college but waited to long to shoot his shot before she hooked up with Sebastian dog behind. I'm glad that Cheryl came out good and I love the relationship between her and Leslie.
Pissed. Angry. Ready to throw some hands. Why I feel like fighting? Girl the damn best friends!! As Hair’s got me one here questioning my growth because Alexa and Bas would’ve had me backsliding. But Blaze can get it...got me over here singing, please me baby (in my Bruno voice) cause they way he was bringing it left your imagination full!!! Now let’s give the bad guys some act right in book 2 😡
I REFUSED to put this book down until I finished it! The story was one that I've yet to come across which made it even better! Haha deserved all things great after what Has did to her. I won't tell too much of the story, but I'm hoping to find the book of continuance to know how it all really ends. This book was nothing short of amazing, Aubree is a fantastic writer!
The educator in me had a hard time with this story. There were numerous run-on sentences and sentence fragments on each page, in addition to the frequent use of incorrect verb tenses and the incorrect use of words in general. If the author can't catch most of this during their editing stage, and the editor doesn't catch the rest, something is wrong.
I could just SCREAM due to how deliciously amazing this book was!!! O-M-G!!! Blaze is top tier Zaddy BDE! Love him from infinity to infinity. And Dallas?! My good sis deserved ALLLL the blessings God had in store for her! Bas & Alexia?! Baby Bobby & Whitney?! They deserve the hell they created. Hate his sweet parents had to endure his shame! This book was great! Can’t wait to hop into Book two!🤗🥰
This is my second book from this author and I’m glad I gave this book a chance! I loved Dallas because she was just a genuine person, Bud Bas and Alexia could kick rocks. I’m so glad that Blaze was there support Dallas and ultimately help piece her back together. This was a very solid read.
I’m so enjoying Dallas and Blaze love and already side eyeing her so call bestie I know she will be up to something soon and I can’t wait to see her get put down. The mom and aunt are priceless and make you want them in your life. I am definitely a fan of Ms. Pynn and will continue to follow this talented writer!
Some people will never get it. I don't know why Alexia thought she would be able to live happily ever after with all that jealousy and envy in her heart. Dallas did right by getting rid of all that dead weight and living her life for herself. Bas needs to be knocked down a peg or three.....
