Asharia and Blaze are happily married and getting prepared to expand their family, but Bas cant seem to let go. Bas and Alexia are together in Alexia eyes, but Bas is Bad. When Alexia and Bas business catches up with them, he turns to Asharia again. The ending to to Bas and Alexia was really bad, but they got what they deserved. Bas to me redeemed himself to me by taking responsibility for his actions and going through what he did with his parents. I would really love a book about Bas. Alexia was an entire mess and when her mother dropped that bomb, I couldn't do anything but shake my head, but maybe she will get it together. Asharia and Blaze became a better couple and their relationship was always what she wanted. The ending was just as good as the beginning. I read straight through it and didnt want it to end. Aunt Leslie was something else and I loved her lines!!!
Yes AP! Glad those two haters got exactly what was coming to them! Like, I still can't understand why they went through all those lengths, when they were both able and capable to be successful on their own! Just damn greedy! Ughh….. 🤯 Loved Blaze and Dallas together! Perfect match. I was worried for a minute that the idiot duo, would cause a rift in their marriage. Thankfully all worked out, and Dallas got the closure that she deserved! Great follow-up! 👍👍👍
Bas and Alexia TRRRIIEEDDDD it AGAIN!, but you know how the old saying goes God gives His toughest battles to his strongest soldiers and what God has for me is for me. Dallas won in every sense of the word and meaning. Whenever something that was supposed to tear her down or destroy her got in her way she took it in her first and she became a Phoenix and rose from the ashes
Alexia and Bash truly were into some shiesty mess. I thought Alexia was a horrible person because of what she did to Asharia. She proved to me that she was even worse than originally thought. Like she had all the opportunity and promise to be and do whatever she wanted a d yet she chose to be shiesty and hurt those who loved her most. I feel like Bash was so used to getting his way that he never thought he'd have consequences for his actions. Blaze and Asharia are true couple goals!! And the Golden Girls had me laughing so hard especially Aunt Leslie's mannish self lol. This was a perfect way to end the story by speaking about forgiveness and healing in order to grow to that next level.
Whew Chile, this was book was crazy. I'm over here like: "WTH is wrong with these people?" LOL! I'm so for real! I made a mistake though. I crossed books because I thought Mrs. Dupree was somebody else's mother lol. So I had animosity with her for nothing. Smh, my bad. I wasn't expecting that though. My heart dropped. I pulled a Florida Evans (from Good Times) on 'em! Honey, I was feeling what I was feeling. I was shook, hello! Blaze over here looking and acting like a whole meal and things. Shoot, I came through drippin' like Cardi B lol. I was on an emotional roller coaster y'all. Overall, this book was great! I thoroughly enjoyed it. Keep them coming honey!
Wow wow wow. Aubree you bodied this book. I loved every second of it. Karma can be such a bitch and I just love how she spun the block and took care of those two. They deserved it. You will always reap what you sow in life. You don't treat people like shit and live a happy life. Alexia and Bas are the epitome of karmic partners. They ruined a marriage and friendship but Alexia really thought she was about to get the princess treatment and it tickled me when she didn’t cause that’s what she gets. This book was amazing I loved seeing Blaze and Asha grow in love and welcome their bundle of joy. That was beautiful. I also adored how he defended her honor and didn’t falter when she needed him. Kudos Aubree you’ve done again
Ms. Pynn did her thing with this series. This is my first read by this author, and I'm so glad I found this through my Goodreads friends. I will definitely seek out more of this author's work. I loved her writing style and her knack for making me feel what each character was going through. I loved the premise that you don't have to wallow in self pity or seek revenge when wronged. Be, speak and live positivity over your life. And love hard. Don't let others take you out of character. I found this to be so powerful, so motivating, the way she got this across. This book/series was all that.
This book was nothing short of truly amazing I was so overjoyed with Asha and Blaze talk about #relationship goals... Blaze was everything and then some I couldn’t imagine a more perfect fit for Asha... I felt a little bit of sympathy for Sebastian after his mom passed but not much because him and Alexia were so selfish and greedy they were destined to pay for the stuff they got themselves into eventually but Karma that sista was not playing with them at all... I loved the Golden Girls they were so refreshing to this whole story and always full of good laughs...Definitely a truly amazing read more than five stars can’t wait for the next one
This book series was like the movies Motives and Motives II lol. I actually didn't read the first book because I suspected it was full of angst and a lot of bad happening like in Motives. Whereas, this second book was like the second movie and all the karma happens. I liked it.
The only thing I didn't like was the constant mention of Howard University. It was mentioned so many times and associated with bad characters. Why not make up a fictional school and fraternity? Obviously not every person who attends an HBCU or that pledges is a great person but it just bothered me to keep reading the name of the school and frat in connection with Bas.
In a lot of ways, this could’ve been just one book.
Overall- I enjoyed it and everyone got what they deserved. I don’t count Adel’s storyline in Bas’ karma.
I didn’t say this in my review of book 1, but I wish the timeline was a bit more flushed out. It was difficult to determine if all this happened in the same year or over a span of time. It wasn’t until Cheryl’s surgery convo that it was pointed out this was a 7 month period.
The poetry was very Lemonade coded and I enjoyed that.
Alexia got off too easy, especially with the additional information we learned.
Alexia & Sebastian stepped on anyone in their path in order to feed their greed. What they didn’t count on was reaping what they sowed. Asharia was everything Alexia wasn’t. Asharia’s karma was sweet like she was. Her best reward was Blaze and all that came with him. She was able to prosper and flourish personally and professionally. The author holds her readers spellbound from the beginning of The Way You Lie to the end of The Way You Lie: The Aftershock. Definitely 2 Must Reads!
I really enjoyed this story the characters were honest and loving and it shows that being a light does give you blessings beyond measure. We all have toxic people in our lives and how we deal with them can build us or destroy us and Dallas stayed true to herself and came out of the fire with amazing grace and a love she deserved with a strong and loving man in Blaze as well as a child to nurture and show their love. Tears of happiness and joy in cheering for success of these characters great read
This was one of the best series that I have read in a while. It made me laugh and it made me cry. Aubree Lynn is a genius with her writing. Every book that I read by her keeps me longing for the next book in her catalog. The raw emotion that these characters went through were so realistic. I absolutely loved the golden girls, they brought just the right amount of humor. I won't speak on the characters because I don't want to give anything away, but I will say that this is more than a 5 star read
Asha and Blaze still loving on and supporting one another even with all of the craziness going on around them. Why do people have to learn their lessons the hard way? Bas and ol’ girl were always trying to live up to their parents standards and get out of their shadows at the same time. Thinking they could lie their way out of all of the dirt they were doing to others and even each other. I’m glad Asha allowed that door to close completely. Aubree has done it again! Great read
This book was written so well and the way the finishing of this story came together was top tier!!!… Karma came to not play with neither Sebastian or Alexia!!!… I truly was not expecting there to be a baby involved and one that Alexia left behind!!!…Talk about a story twist!!!… I was so happy for Dallas and Blaze!!!…He was not playing about his wife and he let it be known that he was not the type of man to allow anything pass when it came to her!!!… Them Golden girls though, had me laughing from the time they showed up til the story ended!!!…
🤗 Seeing Sebastian and Alexia get everything they deserved was the highlight of this story. Unfortunately, it took him hitting rock bottom to recognize his need to grow up. But, as the old folks say, "bought sense is the best kind." I was so glad to see Ashira get her REAL happily ever after. I still stand by my idea that Alexia deserved to have her chin checked by Ashira for doing her dirty 😠😒
Another great read from Ms Aubree This story took forgiving people to a whole nother level. Not sure I could be so gracious. But freedom and peace of mind are everything in life. So glad they got that and then some. Bas and Alexia have a lot to learn but maybe those years will give them plenty of time to reflect and grow. Maybe we'll hear their stories again in the future hint hint.
It was refreshing to see the seeds that Sebastian and Alexia sowed came back on them and I didn't have an ounce of sympathy for either of them. It's sad that Sebastian lost his mom though because she was such a sweet lady. I'm glad that Cheryl health is still doing good. It was too funny when Blaze put them paws on Sebastian and dotted his eye. I'm glad that everything worked itself out for Blaze, Janiah, and Asharia.
Life can be funny. I was glad to see Dallas free from the hurt. I love Blaze because he healed her broken pieces. Good girls get hurt, but when the right man comes along they are whole again. I know people like Bas and Alexia negativity lies under the mask they live in. We have to love ourselves before we can truly ever be happy
I knew karma was going to come around for Bas and Alexia. You can’t continue to do people wrong and expect things to remain the same. I loved how Blaze came in and gave Asharia everything she deserved. She was too good for Bas and Alexia but I’m glad she found her true happiness.
It never pays to use people and do wrong. In the long run, it catches up to you. You get greedy and sloppy!!! Asha was a true definition of living in live but even she had a breaking point. I’m glad they didn’t get away with it. Redemption at its best, God got us!!! Good job!!
This was almost as good as book 1. Aubrey, you have an amazing gift, you are truly talented! I am so glad that Bas and Alexis finally got what they deserved, but more importantly I'm glad that Asha and Blaze continued to find their love and happiness with each other. These books were some of the best I've read. Awesome!
You really have to be careful who you allow into your life into your space. When they say every dog has their day so true. Sebastian and Alexia thought there were no repercussions. Asharia must move on and Blaze is there to help her. It is an absolute pleasure and enjoy reading your body of work amazing 🥰.
Asha rose like a Phoenix, the ones she thought loved her tried to destroy with betrayal and lies but she rose above it all. Blaze and Asha lifted each other up and nourished and protected their love for one another, that’s what’s it all about. When you have favor, your enemies fall at your feet .
Bas and Alexia got everything they deserved ! Asha had rge biggest heart and Blaze lived to satisfy her, I hollered when he finally put hands on Bas !! Overall this was an amazing and well written story!!!!
I love sequels and this one did not disappoint. I would've loved to have learned more about Blaze's background, but this definitely gave us a solid ending. Great job.
I was so pleased to see this release. It was like a bonus to an already good story. Seeing Asharia and Blaze go for their HEA and watching Alexia and Bas face the music was everything!
Excellent read, I loved the storyline and characters Asharia was a resilient woman. Although, she was betrayed by her husband and best friend, she managed to come through better. Asharia found love and happiness with Blaze. I recommend this two book series.
This story couldn't have ended any better than it did. I'm glad Bas and Alexis finally took ownership of their wrongs. Blaze and Dallas really are the perfect couple and deserve all the happiness in the world.
