Trevor Raines is looking for a nanny. As a professional hockey player it shouldn’t be a hard task, but with his mother vetoing anybody she thinks Trevor will sleep with, it becomes more difficult. Until Nicholas Berchard walks into their life. Instantly bonding with Trevor’s daughter, Gabrielle, and charming Trevor’s mother, Nick is chosen as Gabrielle’s nanny. With his daughter growing attached and the late nights after hockey games bringing Trevor and Nick closer together, their relationship soon moves into dangerous territory. Teammates and family alike try to convince Trevor that sleeping with his nanny will only end in disaster, and though Gabrielle has had enough problems in her life with people abandoning her, Trevor can’t stop himself from this thing he and Nick are doing together. When everything falls apart and Trevor is left with a daughter who’s mad at him, teammates who are saying, “I told you so,” and a broken heart that’s still desperately in love with Nick, he’s gonna have to figure out a way to put his life back together. Even if that life doesn’t include Nick. Please This book contains adult language & steamy adult activities, it is intended for 18+ Adults Only. Novel, approx. 60,000 words in length. This was just really really bad. Like someone trying to make meat loaf but forgot the meat so just heated up some stale bread and called it a day bad. I normally like this authors stuff but they must have been trying to meet a deadline for this one. It was just so freaking boring. I actually feel imsulted by this. It was so boring that I am not even sure what I read. I retained no information from this story outside of the daughters name. But even she wasn't worth caring about.
I had a hard time getting into this one... it was well written but predictable except for the end which was rather unsatisfying because I didn’t really get to know what happened with the central conflict of them living together, the media etc. generally I prefer romance to be dual POV because it’s hard to bond with the main character who doesn’t “speak” unless there is a ton of detailed dialogue and this just didn’t have it. I couldn’t understand or root for nick because I didn’t feel connected to him. I didn’t get an emotional rush from this one but I liked the premise and it was a sweet story!
Max Hudson brings us another lovely book, “The Nanny”. I loved Trevor’s character, changing his attitude and outlook on life after gaining custody of his daughter. Trevor’s mother has been helping take care of his daughter, Gabrielle when he has to go out of town for hockey games or practices.
His mom wanted to get back to her husband and finally talked Trevor into hiring a nanny to take care of Gabby. The problem was every nanny his mother and him interviewed didn’t fit what they were looking for. Several nannies later, Nick shows up for an interview and the pieces fell into place when Gabrielle instantly likes “Mr. Nick”.
The romance was sweet and Dearing, and Trevor’s teammate friend, Jetty, was leery about the closes he saw between the two. Everything was going along fine in Trevor’s and Nick’s relationship until Nick brought Gabby to one of Trevor’s game wearing Trevor’s hockey jersey. It was the first public appearance that introduced Trevor had a daughter. But the press wrote about “The Nanny” bring Trevor’s daughter to the game and not his mother.
I still didn’t see why that was a big deal seeing that his mother lived in Florida and Trevor in Chicago. After all, Nick was the nanny and there was not anyone else that would take Gabby other than Jetty’s wife. Anyway, the press made a big deal out of it and it jarred and broke up Trevor’s and Nick’s relationship.
Getting back together after many apologies to each other and commutated their feelings about to each other. I loved this sweet story and the ending wasn’t what I thought it would be, but it was alright. It just felt like there was more to the story, but my perceptive could be different than anyone else, but none the less, I’d recommend the book. I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced read copy of this book.
This was a really good "Nanny" story and the author did a good job of portraying the MC's main personalities. Both Trevor and Nick are men with strengths and vulnerabilities that show through throughout the book. Gabrielle is a little too mature for a three year old, especially since her first years were erratic, but added a great deal to the book none the less. Trevor has secrets that he keeps to himself and lets them out gradually throughout the book. Nick has an air of mystery about him and things that are never quite cleared up. His character never got a full explanation as to why he moved from Canada, why he became a nanny and why the heck his skin had tan lines. Otherwise an excellent story with enough angst to keep you worrying until the HEA at the end. I would definitely recommend this book to anyone to read. I voluntarily read and reviewed this ARC book.
Trevor is a young hockey player who's fast way of life came to a screeching halt with the arrival of his daughter, a daughter he knew nothing about until he had to fight to keep her. Now living on his own with the help of his mom, he is raising beautiful Gabrielle. You will adore Gabrielle. She is a smart and wise beyond her years, little girl. But Trevor's mom needs to get back to take care and be with her husband so Trevor has to find a Nanny for his daughter. Into their lives walks Nick. Their lives will never be the same. Loved this story...even with the inevitable conflict. The love scenes are great but not the focus of this story which I like a lot. The main story is Trevor , his daughter and what Nick brings into their lives.
I read a complimentary Advanced Readers Copy of this book and am voluntarily leaving an honest and unbiased review.
It seems to NHL has a real problem with gay players. I remember when the first NFL player came out some people didn't like it. But my thought was he's the same person who was playing before he said something what's the problem now, he still doesn't want you. I feel the same about reading these stories, gay, straight, or no, they are the same people they were before you knew. I hope to read about a gay hockey player's love story the same way if it was a hetero, couple. Acceptance, problems and finally a HEA. I did enjoy the story as is was written differently than the others. This story kept me attentive. One day to read, with taking most of my morning and afternoon doing other things
This book encompasses many themes—employer/employee, how children of one parent deal with a romantic relationship and friends. Add celebrities and m/m and you have this novel. There’s a lot going on and, though it was shorter than some of others, it felt long. Not in a bad way, just in a “it’s complicated way.” Give it a try.

I loved this story because it was about a hockey player and a normal guy. I liked the passion that Trevor and Nick had together. I cannot help but think how hard it is to be one way and have to act one way in public. I am glad that these two characters were able to fix their problems in a satisfying way. The writing was great as always.
Very mature, very grownup story. It was a solid read, just I got no emotional rush outta this. All that happened was the adult, correct thing to happen...
This book was awesome to read! It really was showing how it's hard to find someone to be a nanny to your child. But it's even harder when you fall in love with the nanny! Read this book! It's juicy and very intense.
This was a great slow burn romance. Trevor and Nick were great characters and Gabrielle was just adorable. The storyline was very engaging, all in all a very enjoyable read.
This was another great book by Max Hudson. It drew me in from the very first page and I couldn't put it down. I absolutely loved Nick and Trevor and I didn't want their story to end. Loved it!
Kind of predictable, there was nothing wrong with it per se, just not overly exciting. Oh, it gets an extra half star for having a character from Winnipeg.
I love the nanny troupe and I love hockey books, so this book is right perfect for me. It turned out to be mostly good...but there was some dumb communication mess ups and a 3 year old more mature than my 12 yo was. Oh, and its a HFN. It needed a tad more to be HEA.
Not going to rate it, because it doesn’t even deserve a one star from me. It turned me off pretty early on. This guy, calls the nanny he interviewed, to offer him the job. The many accepts, then proceeds to tell him “fuck you” during the conversation. Yeah no.
Then I skipped to almost the end of the book. The dad was having a conversation with a teammate who said something like “oh you’re gay”. Get this, his answer? “I’m not gay, I just dig men” or something to that effect. DENIAL MUCH ???
And then finally, one of my biggest pet peeves. When an author includes a kid in the story, but doesn’t have said kid acting or speaking accordingly to the age they were given. Meaning, when a 3 year old speaks like she’s 5. No thanks !!!
