Great book with a lot of things to think about. Whatever I am going through I am not alone since the Holy Spirit lives within me. God’s will always surpasses my will and it’s His answer I look to instead of my selfish answer. Praying for healing does not always get me the results I am looking for but when praying according to His will always gets me closer to Him. Will be reading this book again in the future.

Relief and restoration spill from Dr. Page’s masterful manuscript which provides courage for the sick and suffering. Writing from his Christ-centered faith, Charles Page shares story after story of medical issues of pain and suffering he has encountered and the spiritual lessons that we can learn from these experiences. The power of the Holy Spirit resides in the Biblical wisdom Dr. Page imparts. Life-changing words. Exceptional insight into ordinary lives and extraordinary people. His work has already changed my mindset and my determination to practically live out my walk with Christ, including my personal health, daily, just as we are told by God’s word to pick up our cross daily and follow Jesus. (Luke 9:23) This is a must read for anyone interested in a proper perspective on faith and healing. And who doesn’t need a little spoonful of courage or encouragement in their life? Read it. You’ll love it!

As a former librarian, I’m always open to read a positive, uplifting book that speaks to the difficulties we face in our lives.

This book delivers such a positive, hope-inspired “shot” of real-life medical illnesses and the patient’s “undying belief” that they will not be defined by their symptoms on conditions.

The book’s chapters are short, easily read and convey individual perspectives in the personality and belief systems of Dr. Page’s patients.

I couldn’t put the book down and read it in two sittings. It would take about three hours to read the book start to finish, but the chapter’s format are stand alone and conclude with a Christian outlook and scriptures that add weight to each chapter.

The book deals with death but the reader finishes the book with an irrepressible hope and a heart full of appreciation and joy for the lives we lead each day.

I encourage you to read this book and invest in a friend’s life by sharing this book with them.

This will be on my list of books to give to others who are dealing with the great medical question of “Why?” either in their own life or the life of a loved one.

Great read that really gets you thinking!
I really enjoyed reading this book. I am not an avid reader, yet I thought it was an easy read that had great insight. The chapters were small; and each chapter was its own story, so if you need to put it down it is easy to pick right back up and read. It was not a read this, do that kind of book. The book is full of real-life stories to keep your interest, and then the author connects each story with spiritual and biblical truths leaving the reader with good food for thought. I loved the fact that this book really shows the impact of perception. Dr. Page’s profession has allowed him to have several inspiring encounters with others, and I am thankful that he chose to share his experiences and insight with others. I believe everyone that reads this book will be blessed by it.
I received a complimentary copy for review.

This is an excellent book! Dr. Chuck Page has put together so many interesting stories, each only 1-2 pages in length. It makes for a quick and easy read. I read almost 2/3 of the book in one sitting!

Each story has a point that is being made.
Each story builds the anticipation of "what is the next one going to say?"
Each story pulls you into the situation described and makes you long for the ending...

He has done a wonderful job of making his points while holding the reader's interest and building the desire for "more."

I love this book! It is one of the best I have read in a long time!

Horrible. Not inspiring, unless perhaps you are a certain type of Christian. Reads like a typical "know it all surgeon" wrote it, complete with un-politically correct labels and phrases throughout (calling someone a "stroke victim," someone else "disfigured," another "crazy," telling a cancer patient that they "only suffered for a season" once before so they can do it again, telling people it is selfish to ask God to heal your dying loved one). Horrifying. I would DEFINITELY not recommend this book to someone suffering in any way and would not recommend it at all. I think his purpose in writing this book came from a good place, but it was very badly executed.

Short stories to inspire your day!

I’ve known Chuck for many years. I knew he was a compassionate doctor, but I didn’t know he was such a great story teller. What a writer! A Spoonful of Courage is an amazing book with true life stories that will strengthen and encourage you in the midst of your busy life. Just read a chapter each morning (or evening) with a cup of coffee. That’s what I did. It gives perspective beyond the stress of the day. It’s refreshing in so many ways. I received a complimentary copy for review, and here are my honest thoughts: I love it… and you will too.

I’m a physician and I am purchasing extras of “A Spoonful of Courage” for my own patients. A very encouraging, uplifting book for those who may be struggling with health issues or even those who aren’t. Highly recommend.
