Closing the hellmouth after the devil and his demons escaped on dragonback might not have been the best idea. With an enemy in possession of her body, Sere Mal-Laurette will have to cast her soul back to hell if she hopes to put both dimensions back in order.
Time is quickly running out for Sere to save the world. Marjory Laroque has all that she needs to create her immortal army. Even worse, Aloysius is now in full devil form and ready for Marjory to possess.
Sere’s plan to thwart the powerful woman goes horribly off course when Marjory takes possession of Sere’s body instead of that of the hapless devil she created. With Sere’s soul forced back into the computer that spawned her, the devil’s daughter finds no other option but to follow the link back to hell. If she can cut Marjory’s army off at the source of its power, she might still have a chance of saving the world.
Marjory’s army of goblins and half-baked dragons do their best to intercept Sere in hell, but the badass doppelgänger girl has a few tricks up her sleeve for battling them. Getting back out of hell, however, proves far more complex than Sere imagined, requiring the help of not only those she loves but also those she mistrusts. The price for their help will test the limits of Sere’s humanity.

This is the last book in the series, and I’m sad to see it go. Unique is one of the words that always come to mind when I think of this. Not only that, the characters are interesting, the action is great, and I enjoyed every minute of reading it. Without giving away too much, the series ended in a satisfying way, if a little sad to me. I can’t really say why it was sad to me, but I can say nothing bad happened; I just feel sad about what Sere will face in the future (hope that’s vague enough!). If you are a fan of this series, you’ll love this series-ender. Recommend! I was provided a copy which I voluntarily reviewed.
I can't believe it's all over... I can't believe it ended like that!!! omg I seriously want more...
Yes those were my rung out emotions upon finishing Hell and Back, like the title I felt like I had literally been to Hell and Back reading not only book 6 but this entire awesome series and now it's over and I'm in mourning because it was just so, so, so good.
Talk about information, action, and adventure overload there was so much crammed into this freaking awesome story and honestly the whole series was the same which just makes it all the more an amazing read and a truly epic adventure of monstrous proportions.
I enjoyed it more than I can say and I seriously can't wait to see what G.A. Chase comes up with next.
This is a terrific addition to this series, I loved it. While I am sad to see this series end, I enjoyed the journey along with the characters. The author has done a great job of tying the story together but leaving me wanting a little more. There is action, adventure and a whole lot of emotion. Definitely a book and series worth reading.
I can’t believe it’s over! The Devil’s Daughter series has been such a fun series I just didn’t want it to end. G.A. Chase has such a great author, drawing in the reader in his world of Hellmouth, Doppelgangers, and all these incredible characters, it is so hard to let go. Sere is such a kicka$$ character it was awesome to watch her evolve. All of the characters are amazeballs. Did I mention there are DRAGONS! Why did it have to end?!
Quick recap: Sere has managed to close the Hellmouth BUT not in time to prevent the devil and his demons to escape. Yikes! Sere still needs to deal with Marjory Laroque and it does not help that her nephew is the new devil. O.o Just when you think it can’t get any worse, you’ve spoke too soon. Marjory now has Sere’s body and her soul is now back where she started: in the computer that spawned her. Holy Cannoli! Now the race is on to stop Marjory, get her body back and deal with the new devil.
Ack! Squeak! I FLOVE it. So many twist and turns with what Sere had to deal with. It kept me on the edge of my seat and guess from beginning to end. I cheered I laughed and in the end I cried. Not only because this exciting series had to end but because of the ending. It was beautiful, wonderful and sad all at the same time. Honestly, I never gave that a thought at all until it was all laid out. No freaking way. *SOBS* No hints but keep a tissue handy. Seriously folks, it was a fabulous ending and the perfect one for this series. Kudos to the author. I look forward to the next adventure Mr. Chase takes me on.
*sigh* Another great series has come to an end. I had no idea what to expect from The Devil’s Daughter when I first picked up Hell in a Head Gasket, but once I started, it was obvious I was destined to be hooked.
The description gives readers a pretty good idea of what Sere’s up against in this final battle, but the emotions that come into play in Hell and Back caught me totally off guard. Totally. Sere gained some interesting allies and there were times that she wasn’t quite sure who she could and couldn’t trust. Through it all, there was one constant – Bart. There were some pretty close calls, but he always had her back.
This series is full of interesting characters and they all play a major roll. None of them are perfect. Most of them have been together for a very long time. Some I may never really like, but they all add another layer to the story.
I’m always just a little sad when a series I love comes to an end. Although that’s the case with The Devil’s Daughter, I can’t complain about the way G.A. Chase wrapped things up – but kinda left things open? I could be wrong, but I don’t think we’ve seen the end of this group of characters. For now, I still have plenty of catching up to do with the Malveaux Curse Mystery series. :)
I received Hell and Back in exchange for a fair and honest review.
I really hope another book or two sneak their way out into the world. I'd love to read more about Doodlebug and Bernie, Sere and Bart, and Kendell and Myles. There have to be more adventures in their lives.
