This was an interesting little YA short story about a young woman whose family is going through a very difficult time. Her mother is extremely ill, her father is working himself far too hard to try and make ends meet, and Ada has had to leave school, giving up her dream of becoming a teacher in order to help take care of her younger siblings.
And when her father is fired from his job, things turn desperate. If something doesn't change soon, the family will starve within a few weeks That's when a fairy comes to Ada and takes her to meet her master who has an offer for Ada. Her decision could save or doom her family. But either way, her life will never be the same again.
I enjoyed this short little tale. It really makes you stop and think, did Ada make the right choice? Did she really have a choice at all? I thought it was an interesting little tale and fun to read.
Love and sacrifice play a huge role for Ada as she tries to help her family. Short and sweet with a bittersweet but satisfying ending. This would have made an awesome full-sized book as well.
A very sweet story of true unconditional love of a daughter for her family. Ada's family is going through a rough patch when she is offered an answer to their problems. I do wish there was more development but for a short story found it pretty well written. I received a free copy and am voluntarily leaving my honest review .
The Bargain by Clara C. Johnson is a mild fairy tale about a farm family going through hard times and the bargain the elder daughter makes with an elf, that takes about an hour to read. I have the book as part of Fierce Hearts: A 2022 Charity Anthology of Romantic Fantasy & Fantasy Romance for Ukraine.
This is a really short story – how a young lady being laden with family burdens ends up saving them and living happily ever after. Sometimes dreams come true.
This was a nice little read. It was light and enjoyable and easy to read. I wish there had been more though. I would have liked to see more into the story, but I’m hoping more will come in the form of full length novels.
A very sweet and short story, dark times, decisions and love in many forms. Magic of love, self sacrifice and loneliness, Ada is a beautiful girl in heart and I would love to see more of her. I will admit I kept waiting for the dark twist. It just seems too perfect in a way.
