I’m the fastest and most feared skater in the NHL. With a temper like mine, I can’t afford to make mistakes. But one insane night in Vegas, and I wake up married to the biggest mistake of all: Persephone VanDoren—the head of our team’s charitable foundation. Sure, the petite blonde is sweet enough to give the entire state of South Carolina a toothache, but I’ve never been one for the debutantes. She’s everything I’ve fought against my whole life—wealthy, perfect, gorgeous, and her sharp little tongue presses every single one of my buttons.
Our fights are almost as electric as our chemistry and there is no denying the tension sizzling between us. But I’m a monster with a dark past that will ruin a princess like her.
She needs this marriage to appear real. And I need to remember it’s fake.
Because the longer we stay hitched, the more I want to be her forever. The whole world views me as her personal Hades, but I’ll go to war with both our demons to save her happily ever after.

So I have been waiting not so patiently for Cannon's story for what feels like forever! If you already loved Cannon before you will love him even more after reading his and Persephone's story. I mean who doesn't like a quiet, broody, bookworm! I laughed, there were tears! The ending was just perfect! So much love for these two. I feel I say this every time I read one of Samantha's books but hands down Cannon has been my favourite. I'm excited to see what happens next in the Repears world.
The heroine loved and fought more for the hero, than he did for her. He kept pushing her away the whole time, that by the time he realized his true feelings, it was the end.
"I loved her. My soul belonged to her. I had to protect her…even if she’d hate me for it."
"I could see it. The truth he believed—that he wasn’t worth loving anyway"
"Don’t go falling in love with me, Princess. Because I’m sure as hell not your happily ever after.”
"Now I knew her—I knew her heart, her soul, and her mind. I’d found solace in her arms, and mind-bending pleasure in her body."
2.5-3 stars This book was honestly up and down for me. While I liked some parts, I really hated others. I really liked the h, but the H was just…ugh I didn’t like him. He belittled her and disregarded the work she did all the time by saying shes rich and never had to work for anything, and saying she doesn’t know what love is and doesn’t really love him because she didn’t have to go through hell to prove her love.
He was really annoying and I wish he had just grown up and dropped the whole Eeyore poor me she’s too good for me blah blah blah bullshit. It really grated on my nerves that he was 100% willing to walk away from her and never love her until he saw she stepped up to his abusive and literally murderous father. Why tf would he let her do that?? Just to prove her love?? It was really annoying and the icing on the cake was how it never left my mind that the author just HAD to mention that before they got together he was fucking girls that looked like her because he just couldn’t possibly have her. It was stupid and 100% did not need to be mentioned. I don’t get why authors think it’s endearing to have an H who is sleeping with other girls that look like the h. It’s gross.
Also, this author does A LOT of telling rather than showing. It’s not only in this book by her, but she has so many time jumps that begin with summarizing what happened the previous month or week or whenever. It creates such a disconnect to be told that the H met the h’s mother for the first time rather than experience it, or how it skips around in their relationship telling us they like to read together rather than show us them reading together. I didn’t even know either of them liked books until I was told that they bonded over the past couple weeks by reading together!
The epilogue sort of made up for some stuff, it was the sort of epilogue I was hoping to get with the first book rather than the stupid throw away nonsense that was the first book’s epilogue
I really have no complaints about this book. Cannon and Persephone were perfectly matched. I loved everything about them and their story. Cannon was never a character I cared about until Logan's book but his and Persephone's relationship was by far my favorite. Totally worth reading the rest of the series to get here.
My favorite part about this book was that there was no big dramatic blow out like all the other books. Cannon's and Persephone's fight (if you call it that?) Was internal, between the both of them, everyone and their mother didn't get involved in a big and obnoxiously dramatic way like in previous books. That was a refreshing change of pace.
Tortured hockey man covered in tattoos wakes up married to proper woman of his dreams. I loved the "waking up in vegas" opening to this story. It was a great way to throw the characters immediately in and give back story as you go. I thought it was done well and I liked the slow build right to the very end. There wasn't a conflict so much as a sorting through your feelings. The ending was really satisfying, given the plot twist. 3/5🌶
It's no secret that Samantha Whiskey is an amazing author, but she absolutely blew me away with this release. I've been looking forward to Cannon's book ever since he was introduced, and I have to say.. This is my all time favorite in the series!!
Cannon is convinced that because of his childhood, he is unworthy of anyone's love, and doesn't believe that anyone could ever love all of him -- including the darkest parts of himself that he tries to hide. The only people he lets in are his sister and nephew, and a handful of teammates.. until a beautiful woman literally falls into his arms and makes him want everything that he never thought he could have.
Persephone is one of my favorite characters: she's insanely smart, sassy, doesn't put up with anyone's negative opinions -- especially Cannon's-- and made a career for herself doing what she loves. She knows that all Cannon sees when he looks at her is her family's wealth, but when a trip to Vegas has them saying "I do", and a fake marriage quickly turns real.. Will Cannon be able to let the only woman he's ever wanted into his heart? Or will Persephone break her own heart trying to save the man she loves?
Just when I think Samantha's writing can't get any better, she blows me away yet again. I was so emotionally invested in these characters, and was on the edge of my seat hoping and praying that everything would work out between them. I absolutely adore the hockey men this wonderful author creates, and Cannon is in a league of his own: He's sensitive, kind hearted, sexy, unbelievably sweet, yet a total alpha at the same time. I loved him so much!!
And can we take a moment to appreciate that cover?! I never realized a back could be sexy, but DAMN.🔥🔥🔥 I need this beauty on my shelf as soon as possible!!
If you are in the need of an amazing series with wonderful characters that you will absolutely adore, start reading this series immediately!! I cannot get enough of this authors words! Everything she writes is pure magic!❤
**I received an ARC of this book and these are my honest opinions!**
09/18/2022 I just gave this book a reread and it was just as perfect as the first time I read it. Made me tear up a few times. Their story is just so perfect. One of my top 3 favorite romances of all time!!
BY FAR MY FAVORITE OF THE SERIES!!
This book is for sure going to make it to the top ten list of the year. This book made me believe in uncondiational life altering love. I was not expecting the perfection of this book. I Cried I laughed and I definitely loved every second of it. I am going to read everything this author puts out because man I love this series!!
I'VE BEEN WAITING FOR CANNON'S BOOK SINCE I READ LOGAN.
Oh boy, how I love Cannon and Persephone together. It was one of the few things I liked about Logan's book. I love the trope, the MCs waking up being married but don't remember + a tattoed hockey player = you got me.
For some reason, I thought I wouldn't like Persephone in her book but I did love. Gosh, she is the kind of heroine I'm always looking for (strong, can stand for herself, gentle without being stepped on, sweet and loving without being weak) because lots of authors, nowadays, tend to write weak-ass heroine because they want their heroes to be bossy alpha males. Persephone knew what she wanted and went after it. She showed Cannon what kind of woman he was dealing with and she nailed it. Though sometimes) she did make me grimace because she was way too in love with him, and even if I found it cute, she was way too blink by her love. But she was so loyal not only towards Cannon but always to her family, and her shitty sister that made me want to punch her.
I love Cannon because he's exactly the kind of hero I like to read. He was rude but damn honest and loyal. His past made him that way and you could only want to hug him and tell him that he deserves to love and to be loved. He has so much to give but only thinks he's not worth it, though sometimes I wanted to shake him and screamed at him to forking open his eyes. But fortunately for him, Persephone was there to shake some sense into him, thank God. Even his friends, the Reapers (I really love that name) were there to make him open his eyes.
I kind of regret not having read the other books because I really love some secondary characters like Echo, Axel, Sterling (though he doesn't a book). I might read his book, depending on what his trope will be (if he gets a book, of course).
I don’t know if it’s because Cannon is perfect or if this had all the right tropes that I just loved. Or maybe it aligned just right with my mood. But everything in this story fell into place perfectly for me. I think this might be my favorite couple in the series. Also while these books are usually great as standalone, this one I think is better if you’ve read the few before to see the tension build between Cannon and Persephone.
A million and one stars! Cannon Price I am adding you to my book boyfriends ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥ Cannon is just so easy to love, he is the fastest NHL player, broody, intelligent and don't let me start with his amazing body covered in arts. Sephie is a very lucky lady.. The wedding and the vows are amazing gives me goosebumps #Cannon'sPrincess #Hockey&Family #Barbie&Hades
2 ⭐ This just wasn't for me, I guess. The writing style flowed well and I liked the pacing of the story, but I just couldn't stand some of the main characters' behaviours or maybe i should say some of their thoughts. There was too much I'm not enough for you talk for my likings.

OMG a very very pleasant surprise and probably one of my favorite books in the series =D
I must admit that it is one of the books that I hesitated the most to read : I was afraid that it was too cliché and I must admit that the "married by mistake" trope was never one of my favorite ... AND YET !! I loved and devoured this book !! Not only did the author manage to revisit the "marriage by mistake" trope like a chef (I loved the fact that Cannon was willing to do anything to help Persephone for her mother and also the "second" marriage =)) but also, the characters were AWESOME (loved Cannon breaking down the stereotypes of uneducated hockey players (and how can you not fall in love with a man who knows his literature <3) but also really liked Persephone who was so much fun and at the same time adorable in her pursuit of Cannon =D (the dinner with Cerberus <3)) (on the other hand, her sister was AWFUL !!!) AND ESPECIALLY it is the first time in this series that the heroine does not break the hero's heart and cherishes him for who he is =) And this end !! The wedding was awesome (I loved the shock when hearing Cannon's real name xD) and especially this so adorable epilogue <3
In short, probably one of my favorite books in the series and for fans of sports romances, to devour without moderation <3
Cannon by Samantha Whisky is a hockey sports romance that follows the story of Cannon and Persephone. This is the fifth book in the Carolina Reapers series, which is a spin-off to the Seattle Sharks series.
Oh holy hell, that last sentence in Logan’s story had me quickly picking up this book.
Cannon hasn’t let his barriers down once since joining the Reapers. He’s the strong, quiet and tattooed hockey player that no one really knows much about. Then there’s Sephie who’s the daughter of one of the town's richest families, but she’s kind, intelligent and will fight for those around her. Really, these two couldn’t be more opposite if they tried.
Cannon and Persephone’s hate/infatuation has been building for a while now and this story definitely delivers, as the build up was more than worth it. But there’s also a whole lot of heartache in this story, and emotions definitely rise to the surface.
This story ticks the sports romance box, but adds in enemies to lovers and an accidental marriage.
“It’s not about what I deserve. It’s about what she deserves. I am more fucked up than any of you know.”
grumpy/sunshine and fake dating trope 💙💍 i like their scene when they wake up and realized they've been married 🤣 it bring me to journey how they fall in love after married. I'm all angsted out now. A massive grumpy ice hockey player who LOVED READING. gosh sweetheart 💋 i pick this book cus i thought it will be sad considering her mom is sick but it didn't. if you hv any other books that start with main character wake up and being married without they realize pls recommend in the comments ☎️ I'm smitten.....
This was a book recommended to me by one of my closest friends. I asked her for a cheesy, low-angst, romance and this book was exactly that (plus the spiiiiiicy scenes and more!)
It's one of those reads that you just fly through without thinking too much. Admittedly, it is bit cliche at times, but sometimes that's exactly what I need to get through the weekend.
I know the marriage of convenience/fake dating trope isn't everybody's cup of tea, some might find it predictable and overused, but at the moment I don't mind it (seeing as I've read few books with that trope)
I love this!!! It was sweet, simple yet touching. It's been a long time since I fell in love with the characters too. I adore Sefie and of course I love Cannon. Almost cried because of their wedding vow LOL.
Yes. Just yes. I think this might've green the best in this series for me, so for. I've been DYING for Cannon's story. And Samantha Wiskey delivered. From the moment they woke up in Vegas..to the last line of the epilogue, I was in it. I could not stop reading. I blew off my daily chores and kind of ignored my kids...kidding. It was because I already knew & LOVED Cannon and I had already wished Persephone was a bestie of mine.
I Iove these characters and I am moving on to the next book now....
