Sixty thousand Americans are living with multiple spouses. Kathleen Tracy examines the history and future of the polygamous lifestyle and reveals the shocking abuse of women who often are born into a life they do not choose.
I liked the author's research and insight into the Kingston trials/cases. However, I feel like there was some disdain for mainstream Mormons and that was evident in a lot of her chapters. There was also a lot of blatant inaccurate information about mainstream Mormons. Considering a lot of FLDS practices have basis in Mormon beliefs, the author did not have enough accurate knowledge of mainstream Mormons to draw parallels accurately. There was a lot of opinion based/biased information which caused my distaste for a lot of the book! Like other people have mentioned, there are a lot of grammatical errors in the book that could have been fixed with a decent proof-read which also takes away from the seriousness of the book.
No i didn't finish this book. Not to many book make me angry but this one did. If you're going to write a book isn't it supposed to be edited? If you get years wrong, words wrong or mispelled it makes me angry. Next time you write a book please proofread it, and spellcheck is not the answer. thank you.
Littered with simple errors. Dates in the 1800s referred to as the 1900s in the next paragraph, and quoting a professor from the "University of Minneapolis"? poor form. decent content but the mistakes made me wonder how accurate any of the information is.
