Midnight Fae Academy #2

Midnight Fae Academy: Book Two

Rate this book
I'm in purgatory.
Hell.
A Midnight Fae dungeon.
All because my mates betrayed me.

Shade swears he's innocent.
Zeph promises that what he did was for my own best interest.
Meanwhile, Kols isn't apologetic in the slightest, his cocky arrogance claiming fate intervened at just the right moment.

I hate them all.
Crave them, too.
And now I have to work with them to solve a millennia-old secret, one that involves my true heritage.

Except our digging has awoken an ancient power and it's threatening to destroy the Midnight Fae realm with its vengeance.

If only the Academy offered courses in mediation.
I could use one of those right about now.
Because as it turns out, I'm the only one with the power to stop this thing from taking over.
And I have to rely on my mates to help guide me.

Welcome to Midnight Fae Academy, where the classes are useless and the male fae are all jackholes. Wish me luck.

Author's Note: This is a dark paranormal why choose trilogy with bully romance (enemies-to-lovers) elements. Despite Aflora's opinions on the matter, there will definitely be biting. Shadow, a. k. a. Shade, guarantees it. This book ends on a cliffhanger.

ZEPHYRUSSSSSSSS 🫦 my grumpy midnight fae guardian headmaster 🥰

who doesn't know how to ~woo~ a woman but then takes his little pixie earth fae mate on a midnight stroll at central park so that she can dance around in the grass and smell the flowers because he knows she misses her earth fae kingdom

what A MAN, I tell ya 🗣️💋🫦

and then he fucks her against a tree but that's beside the point

and SHADE 🫦 an ACTUAL -as much as I hate the term- shadow daddy

“You’re allowed to ask me where I’ve been,” I told her softly. “I’m your mate, Aflora.”

reassuring KING !!!! sorry for kinda sorta disliking you in book 1 you were boring then but I see the development and I fully support

oh and THE one and only midnight prince and future king KOLSTOV 🫦💘 who definitely got on his knees for Aflora but for more than begging if you catch my drift

I thought of Aflora while I spoke, pictured her sleeping beside him. “We’re going to do right by her, Zeph.”
“Yes,” he agreed. “Somehow.”
“We’ll figure it out.” Because there wasn’t another choice. “She’s ours.”
“She is,” he murmured, his tone filled with wonder.

nothing to see here just two powerful men turning into SIMPS before our own eyes for their pixie fairy mate who loves nature and flowers and animals and dragon steak with leafy patties (✿◡‿◡)

which reminds me that KOLS actually asked his earth fae contacts about what kind of food Aflora would like bc she doesn't like human food and he wants her to be comfy 🥹 and then my man ZEPH 🫦 actually cooked it for her bc he wants her happy 🥹🥹 NO ONE is better taken care of than Aflora when she is with her mates !! love that for her. men written by women, I swear

and I see what you're doing there with Zakkai

I approve ma'am !!

this was an improvement from the first book for sure (got me wondering there for a sec if it was written by the same author as book 1 bc this one was SIGNIFICANTLY better than the first lol)

but unfortunately!! there are things here that I wish were different or had taken a different approach.

I'm not really that convinced of their romance. (yet, at least) I love everything that happens in this book romance-wise BUT I wish this all happened in book 3 instead of book 2.

I think I needed one more book of them pushing each other away only to pull them back in. I needed more tension. They needed time to get to know each other without lust mixed into it.

because for a sec there it sort of felt like they were only obsessed with Aflora because they were mates. It was giving ✨instalust✨ and I KNOW THEY ALL DESERVE BETTER THAN THIS

Kols did mention a time or two that Aflora had qualities he liked - but I still think it wasn't enough lol

but I kinda forgive it bc I found out that this started as a trilogy but the author changed her mind and turned it into a 4-book series so that kinda explains it.

I think if the author had planned for it to have more than 3 books since the start, the romance would've been handled better.

but ehh to be fair it got better towards the end and the romance did start to feel more genuine there so I'm excited to see how it will improve in the next books because THEY HAVEEEEE POTENTIAL.

oh and I wish there was an OW drama lollll listen ow drama in academy RH setting is DELICIOUS. girls that get it, get it 😭😩

there's a tinyyyy OW drama in this I guess? with Emelyn? but not really since Kols & Emelyn hate each other anyway and honestly Emelyn is not nasty she's just a very angry and grumpy bitch. I'm also a very angry and grumpy bitch so like I can sympathize

This was so bloody fantastic I loved the first book but this one Knocked it out the park.
This really was in a league all its own.
It’s a non-stop ride filled with secrets intrigue and magic and wow that finale really brings it.
I so need the final piece of this trilogy like now.
In this second book, I felt we got to know Shade, Kols and Zeph inside out.
There motives and characters laid bare and becoming much more transparent.
All we learned of in book one is amplified here and bonds are strengthened and solidified.
I felt all of Aflora’s mate bonds intimately and the connections and personal chemistry between them all is red hot both on an emotional and physical level there really is no weak link here.
I still myself have a slight bias towards Shade with all of his riddles and meddling but Kols and Zeph have definitely redeemed themselves in this and it’s plain to see they have a deep regard and affection now for Aflora.
Much more than was displayed in the first book.
I also have such a large well of emotion towards Shade and the hard choices he has had to make he really has been put through an emotional ringer in regards to what he must do for them all to ensure that they all come out on top here.
Going against his instincts even if it means he loses his mate in the process he will make the hard choices to keep her safe.
Every choice he makes here is for a reason even if at the same time he struggles to do what must be done he knows that failure is not an option.
There are also some new players introduced to the mix here and a certain somebody who stepped up and surprised me showing-casing there hidden character didn’t see that one coming.
This was definitely an easy pages turner and I was enthralled and invested in the evolving events reading this in one sitting.
This series is fantastic much better than I was expecting.
I mean I knew I was going to enjoy it as this author never fails to disappoint but this one is in a class of its own.
I highly recommend this series and I can’t wait to get my hands on the conclusion.
I voluntarily reviewed a copy of midnight Fae Academy Book Two.

If you thought book 1 ended on a sucker punch of a cliff-hanger then this ending will slay you!

The story picks straight up from where book #1 ended, with Aflora in a dungeon awaiting a possible death sentence. From that moment onwards this is non-stop action, holding my attention throughout and leaving me feeling as though I were in one of these carts ...

description

There was a LOT of foreshadowing, but much of it in Shades very shade-y way, so you think you might know something, but do you really? There are hints, half truths, puzzles and lies, trust his hard to give when the rug keeps being pulled out from under your feet.

Book 1 introduced us to most of the main players in this story, this book builds on their relationship, whilst also slowly revealing untold secrets and sinister plans. The chemistry between Aflora, Zeph, Shade and Kols is off the charts, this had the perfect balance of enough sexy times to convince me of their feelings, but not too much to overpower the story. I also loved all the small gestures, the little opportunities, that firmly cemented the depth and strength of their feelings for one another. The more I get to know these guys the more I love them, and Aflora is just down right amazing.

I really, really loved this book, I'm hoping book 3 is just as good! My heart aches and breaks for Shadow/Shade and all the terrible things he has seen and torturous decisions he has had to make. There is so much more to this loveable bad boy, than you would ever expect. Oh, and that epilogue, well ...

Wow! Lexi C. Foss has a forever fan in me with her Midnight Fae Academy world! OMG! This world is so unique and twisted up in so many layers, and it's been a blast unraveling it all! Aflora is a fabulous heroine. She's strong, incredibly powerful, and loves hard. I cannot wait to see where Lexi takes us next with the final installment in this trilogy. When reverse harem is crammed full of magic, intrigue, and chemistry, I'm such a sucker for it! Why choose? I certainly don't want to and Lexi doesn't make us! Five I NEED MORE YESTERDAY Stars!!

This book was better than the first in the series. We're getting to know all the characters on a deeper level. The plot too has become more entangled. And yes there was more actual sex than mind crap. Zef is still my favourite. Aflora did quite a bit of developing throughout this book, which is good, because she acted like a real brat in the beginning.

Aflora truly is a feisty little thing, "...I want to take a shower. And I would really like to eat something at some point, assuming I’m still allowed to eat Prince Kolstov’s food.” She issued him a challenging glare with that last comment, and his jaw clenched." I loved this book, and I can't wait to see what happens in book three.

I’ll never be able to say enough about this book, how gripping and utterly brilliant it is, and without sharing spoilers at that. But I’ll try.

I read a lot; books are my life. They have been for as long as I can recall. I’m considered hard to impress and a “vicious” reviewer. This is just because it’s tough to find originality, everything’s been done before and I predict basically every detail, every step of the way in everything. But this world … the way Foss has woven it, the way she portrays the story as one trope, but as it goes on, it’s really not exactly that trope at all ... The mysteries aren’t really mysteries if you’re an astute reader because she does drop a trail of breadcrumbs throughout, you just need to pay attention. Yet, she still manages to add fun little twists … repeatedly. So even when I predict where things are going, I might not have had any clue about how they get that way or in what condition they arrive.

All the while she manages to invoke strong feelings from the reader–see for yourself in the other reviews—whether they’re of hate/rage/anger, still: passion. Or whether they’re like mine: awe, admiration and gratitude for the escape she’s managed to provide, again, there’s passion there. And not many can do that. So, as usual with this world, I’ll recommend reading in order. That means Elemental Fae Academy: The Complete Trilogy, then Midnight Fae Academy: Book Two ... and don’t forget Fortune Fae Academy: Book One.

5 very impressed stars.
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

“He craved to dominate me yet desired my backbone and strength as well. All his lessons were meant to empower me, including the ones I hated. Zeph only wanted me to be safe, to be ready for the future, to be aware of my own abilities.” - Aflora, Midnight Fae Academy, Year Two

I thought I loved the first one, I wasn't prepared for this one. So many secrets revealed, so many turns taken. The entire book kept me wanting and then shocked as the truths started unraveling. Can't wait to jump into the next one!

Aflora is still at the Midnight Fae Academy and nothing is going her way. She can't seem to get a handle on her powers, she can't seem to get the males in her world to take her seriously, and somehow she's even enjoying their company.

Shade and Aflora have an uneasy truce happening at the beginning of the book and their relationship evolves quick...to the point where he is the one that she turns to when she wants comfort.

Kohl and her are playing a dangerous game. They fight all the time and that tension keeps building and building. After sharing some personal stories they form an unsteady truce and that just leads to trouble and adventures in her dreams.

Kohl and Shade are giving Aflora a run for her money in her dreams and leaving her both satisfyed and unsatisfied. Poor Aflora can't catch a break, day or night.

As Kohl and her reach a point of no return the men are left with a choice. Tie themselves to her or let her die. Their decision changes the course of everything, leads to an evolution of relationships, a division, and at times growth.

That ending killed me. I can't handle not knowing what Shade knows and why the choices at the end of the book were made...thankfully the series is complete :)

When a book is so brilliant, you don’t know how to describe it.

This is me, right the eff now.

I go on and on about this authors ability to create a world that is not only stunning and otherworldly but also believable, creative, passionate and intriguing. I know I do. But it has to be said over and over that if you’re looking for that something special, that something more, that something that has the ability to take you away from the real world for a little while, then this is the author for that job.

As always with this author, her characters are on point and fluid. As this is the second book in the series, I find that some authors can lose their way with their characters personalities, that certain something that made them who they are in the first book which could be lost or changed in the sequel. But not this author. Her characters are consistent, they have chemistry, they have a believability and that certain flair.

Aflora is a character who at the beginning I wasn’t all that keen of. A little snowflakey. But now, she’s gotten gutsy and has a certain feistiness that we didn’t see fully the last time. But she is definitely starting to flourish in this instalment.

As always with my reviews I won’t go into detail about the plot because I personally don’t like to read a review and know exactly what happens in the book before even reading said book so I’m refraining. However I will tell you this little nugget.

Be prepared for a shock.
Be prepared for a cliffy.
Be prepared to fall in love with Kols, Zeph and Shade even more.

Another fab read from this author that I definitely highly recommend!

3.5-4 stars. Definitely enjoying this series for sure, but I sure wish I had started at the beginning of this world with the previous series. While I'm waiting for book 3 to come out, I'm going exploring to find the series that comes before this one, maybe I'll get a bit more information about what all exactly is going on in this world. In book 2 here, we start out with a bang right where book 1 left off and boy do all our guys have some splainin' to do after that ending in book one. I'm glad that in this book Aflora, our FMC, really gets to know, not only the guys, but we also get a lot of great information about her family history and the history of her people. This definitely didn't have the dreaded "middle book syndrome."

I'm so torn here.. I don't know whether guy #4 is a good thing or bad and we are left with oh so many questions, a huge cliffhanger, and all the conflicted feels. All of Shade's "shady" behavior is finally starting to make sense but I just can't decide if I should be rooting for guy#4 or nursing this severe anxiety and hoping she runs far in the other direction. Everything is just about as clear as mud and its hard to know who to trust..

Looking forward to book 3 so we can finally get some clear answers and so I can stop stressing about the fact that I keep hoping guy #4 turns out to be a good guy.. maybe? Bah! Anyways, going to go find the beginning somewhere.

RH/Fantasy/Enemies to Lovers
Midnight Fae Academy, Book 2.

And this book is a prime example of why I'm never afraid to open a Lexi C. Foss book! This author is fast becoming a favorite of mine. I think I say that each and every time I finish one of her books. 🤣 I made myself put this book down last night, I would've read it front to back without stopping. The third book is releasing this month, thank fluff!

The deviously written web Foss weaves. The secrets and riddles will have you completely consumed. I stopped myself a few times, just to go back and read slower. And don't even get me started on this harem. Good God. With all the back and forth in the last book, I really didn't know how things were going to progress. This book gives light to the dark, making me squirm and sigh. Shade twisted me up.

I’d keep pushing her because I had to. I’d hold her when she cried. I’d cherish her every breath and strengthen her from the shadows.

Because this was only our beginning.
And I refused for us to ever end.

I don't want to spoil anything. But let me just say this. If you love RH, mystery, unpredictability, and flawed characters. YOU WILL LOVE THIS SERIES!

OH.MY.GOD. Where do i start about this second book in the trilogy other than to say if i though the first book was good this one blew it completely out the water, freaking amazing.

I knew i loved all the guys Shade,Kols and Zeph for a reason but after finishing this book i want a quad for myself just like these hot alpha males as they are sex on legs, seriously they will melt your panties off with all the passion that happens between them and Aflora.

There was alot of questions answered in this story but saying that there is more that i need answers to as well and as usual this author left us with a cliff hanger wanting to know so much more.Lexi has pulled me in from the beginning with her story telling, she is just phenomenal as the world that she has created feels so reel and believable that it never let me up for breath through out this book.

This story will take you on a ride where you never want to get off,the twists and turns are around every corner it will give you whip lash just working it all out,i really really want the last book like yesterday as that ending has left me needing it all to work out for Aflora and her quad of guys to get there hea.

I love how Aflora is mated to all three of the boys. I love that Shade was trying to protect her the entire time. I love that she’s finally controlling her powers better. I hate that someone is setting them up. I hate that she keeps having visions and then passing out. We definitely found out a lot of information in this book. And I have even more respect for Eve.

I really enjoy reading these books. This one was even better then the first in my opinion. I don't know how many times Aflora can get betrayed by her mates though, even if it is supposed to be for the good of the fae. It will be interesting to see how things work out in the last book.

I read the four books in this series back to back.

Book one ends with so many questions, and book two picks up right where book one left off. We're digging deeper into the mystery of what's going on while Aflora's relationship with Zeph and Kohls grows.

3.5 stars - I didn’t dislike this series and I’ll probably read future books from this author. This series was just overall a bit too slow and lacked “unputdownable” traits.
