Aces High MC - Charleston #1-5

Aces High MC Box Set

Rate this book
We were supposed to be a family, but somewhere along the lines something broken destroyed us. Putting those pieces back together was the struggle that brought most of us to our beautiful happily ever after. The loss that brought us all together was one that we would all feel - forever!

Book 1 - The Other Princess (Ever and Deck)
Book 2 - A Love So Hard (Lucy and Double-D)
Book 3 - The Princess and the Prospect (Anna and Joker)
Book 4 - The Killing Ride (Christina and J-Bird)
Book 5 - A Twist of Fate (Gretchen and Kane)

The Aces High MC - Charleston Complete Series is comprised of five full-length novels that must be ready in order.
This is not your typical MC Romance, as it is more about internal family struggles than wild Motorcycle club adventures. Each of the five novels features a new couple with their own HEA (happily ever after), however there is a continuing storyline throughout.

I already owned the first book of this boxset but had never read it until I bought the actual boxset. I liked certain aspects of this series but for the most part I am very meh about the series. I have included individual reviews under each book. I appreciate the author and her hard work.

The Other Princess
4.5 Stars
This book had been on my TBR for a while. I'm regretting not having read it sooner. Fantastic story, characters, and a message about understanding how actions and words hurt more than physical. There is healing here and a message that a lot of people, including myself, should take heed of.

The conclusion left me a little confused. I think I know who it was but I'm not 100% sure. I'm hoping it will come out in a later book of this series.

A Love so Hard
3.75 stars

I read this as part of the Aces High MC Boxset. I liked certain aspects of the story but struggled liking Double D because of his actions in the first book with Ever. It was too hard for me to accept. It eventually did soften me some towards him but not to the point that it should have been. Lucy, she was a different story and kept me reading this book. I knew that I loved her in the first book but this one made it even better. The ending of this book stung a little to finally find out who had been in the grave in the first book.

The Princess & the Prospect
3.5 stars

I read this as part of the Boxset. I struggled with this book. There was just something about Anna that had bothered me since the first book. She seemed too much of a princess without a real care in the world. I had to put aside the fact that she was, in fact, young. Then I could take her a little better. I felt bad for Evan. They treated him like crap when he was just as much, if not more so, innocent in how Anna wound up pregnant. After all, she knew what MC life was like and had been warned. I didn't like how he behaved on his wedding day but I am thinking I would have gotten rip-roaring blackout drunk too, just not taking it to the extreme he did.

By the end of the story, I was okay with this story and how it ended.

The Killing Ride
3.5 stars

There were many aspects of this story that I enjoyed. The first was watching Jay working through his emotions and feeling remorse over T-Bone. I felt that was important as it was directly related to the tattoo that Ever had given him in the first book. Where the story broke apart for me was in regards to Christina and Lindsay. I didn't understand the relationship with Lyndsay at all, both with her and Jbird but also her friendship with Lindsay. I could spot that she was crazier than a loon, so I am surprised that her best friend and boyfriend couldn't. I think had the backstory been fleshed out more it would have had more impact too, in regards to how her connection really had screwed up life for Christina.

And speaking of Christina, I wished there had been more to the establishing of a relationship with Jbird rather than the way it was done. Especially seeing as how there was a connection there.

A Twist of Fate
3 stars

I read this as part of the boxset. I think I am in the minority on this book. I am disappointed. It felt rushed and just pieces and parts slapped together. I did enjoy getting to see those moments that Gretchen had shared with Toby that had been missed in the previous books. Yet, I still felt like the story between her and Kane was shorted.

I'm rounding this book up to a three just because of the epilogue that gives this series a look into the future to see that things were finally at peace. I did like the tie in of what was special of that particular day at the grave. I thought it a nice touch.

The Other Princess - This was one hell of an emotional rollercoaster. Ever goes threw hell and comes out stronger. My heart went out for her. Declan is so sweet and caring. They complete each other. I can't wait to read more.
A Love so Hard- Oh my emotions!!! I did a lot of crying while reading this book. This series just sucks you in emotionally. CJ (Double D) and Lucy go threw a lot but their love for each other makes them stronger. I just love all the characters. I can't wait to read what happens next.
The Princess & the Prospect - This was one emotional roller coaster. Anna and Joker have to overcome lies and deceit. Anna had so many young dreams. Jokers helps her make new ones. I just love this series. Every book feels you with you with emotions. I just love all the characters. I can't wait to what happens next.
The Killing Ride- What an emotional roller coaster. This book was filled with so many betrayals and lies but also with forgiveness and love. My heart broke for both Christina and J-Bird. They go through a lot but they grow stronger together. I was so happy to see some of guest appearances from the S.H.E MCs. Love those women. I can't wait to read more.
A Twist of Fate- What an emotional roller coaster. My heart was broken and then put back together. I was tears reading Gretchen's heartbreaking story. She lost so much in one day. Kane is such a sweet, caring and patient man. He helps heal Gretchen's heart and soul. This book is full of forgiveness and healing. Sad to see it ending.

While I think that this was a great boxed set, I still think that this author needs a good editor to correct all the errors made in each and every book. For the most part the character work was well written. The story lines were good. In my opinion, most of the characters that we hear about in the first book never redeem themselves. Double-D never redeemed himself and I did not enjoy his story and his story in no way shape or form excuses him treating his child the way he does. Lucy doesn't do much for me either since she watched and allowed a child to be treated the way she did. Any of the adults that watched and did nothing to aide a child are not okay people in my eyes and any amount of sob story will not change my mind. Some characters should just be killed off in order to make the series better. Double D and Merc along with Angel Girl and Sweet are all characters that this series would be better off without. I enjoyed most of these stories. There were some parts in each book that dragged and made it difficult to continue reading, however once you got past those the stories were entertaining, if eyeroll worthy by the predictability.

I love boxed sets - you don't have to wait for books to be published , they are right there, just waiting to be read; I loved this group of characters - what alot of heartbreak for a small group of people, who are so connected as a family - hardcore friends. There was some terrible misunderstandings that ended up causing so much pain, with alot of making up to do, over the years; painful lies coming to light that caused other deep hurt, that banished some family members. The retribution was good, but I found there was not enough payback for the terrible heartbreak, pain and suffering the bad guys caused, but still I LOVED THIS SERIES.

Loved it!

This was the first time that I had read a book by this author and I can honestly say it left me in awe. Within 4 chapters in I was already crying reading this book. I seriously could not put it down because I needed to know what happened next. If you love reading about a book with a strong heroine and a sexy alpha with an amazing story line look no further. I loved it so much that I needed to get Aces High MC's Cedar fall chapter and the SHE series. Get lost in this MC's world you will not regret it!😍😍

emotional rollercoaster

This is not your normal MC book as it’s all mainly based in-house. All the emotions are covered, hate, love, pain, joy, angst, sadness, anger and forgiveness. The storyline does have a running theme so really should be read in order but after the first book I had to take a short break before continuing. The characters all have their flaws but also are charismatic and appealing but this is based on their flaws and how they overcome them, from a fractured hate filled family to a United one filled with love. A rally dynamic rollercoaster of a read.

Loved it

This series is so good. The stories are real, you live and breathe every moment. I've cried, laughed and almost shouted out loud at them the last few days. Pretty sure my H thinks I've lost the plot. There is enough MC business to keep you interested and the chemistry between characters is 🔥🔥🔥. Now off to look at all I missed before these !.

Worth the read.

If a book. - or series, in this case - can give you a case of the feels . . . angst, love, anger, laughter, sorrow, fury, tears and the urge to reach out and bitch slap some characters . . . then the author has done her choosen job well.
As a pet peeve - PLEASE, have a qualified editor look at these books!
Its a shame, for this series have subpar editing!

Kane

Charleston series is one tear jerker after another . I spent all day crying . The books are mainly couple & family emotional devastation . Not the all out MC brotherhood drama . I hate to cry and that's why do gave it a 3 . Those of you who like emotional high drama would give it a 5 star rating .

Absolutely fell in love with this series from the 1st page. I laughed, cried, got angry, scared, and just sucked right in. This author was recommended to me by a friend who went to college with Christine and she has become one of my favorite authors.

Rereading things that happened in previous books takes away from the current story. If you are reading a series, start from the beginning. If you are writing a series don't rewrite something that someone has already read. It makes a story drag.

This boxset was amazing. Every single character grabbed your attention and you couldn’t help but wish for their HEA. I cried, sobbed and laughed. I’m going to be left thinking about the High Aces MC world for a long time. I’ve definitely found a new favourite author.

I so love this series, how they all tie in and tell their side of each major scene. And reading all the heartache from everyone’s point of view.

Absolutely amazing

I'm new to this author however after reading this series in now a fan and cannot wait to read more of her writing. From beginning to I was on an emotional roller coaster ride. I cried and laughed and cried even more through out this series.
Book 1- My heart broke for Ever and the treatment she received then it swelled with joy as Deck came into her life. Nothing and I mean nothing prepared me for how this book would end and now matter how happy I was for Ever and Deck my heart was and and I needed to know who it was.
Book 2 - My heart broken again for all that Luce and Double D had been thought and again filled with joy when they got their happily ever and I loved seeing all how their story played out and all the shot that went side ways to tear them apart only ended with them back in each other's arms again. Again my heart was shattered when I discovered who had lost their life and I was left a blubbering mess.
Book 3 - Anna and Joker may have started off very very bad, but in the end we got to see two people who cared about each other before their shot went side ways and we got to see them work though it to get their happy life together.
Book 4- J- Bird and Christine saw each other by chance and we got to see Jay moved through the grieving process with finding the love of his life and mending his relationship with Ever. It killed me to see him walk away from his family by I was happy for him and Ever because I know T-Bone had a hand in it.
Book 5- Kane and Gretchen saw a man who finally saw a women after a tragic chain of events changed her life. We got to see how Lane supported her through that grief and loss as they became the love of each other's life while he honored the love she shared with another man.
I highly recommend this series to anyone who loves mc romance as much as I do. Make sure you grab a box of tissue because your going to need them.
