Molly Mormon?

Rate this book
Is it just a myth that a teenager can keep high standards and still be well-liked? Molly Chambers certainly hopes not. She just tries to do what is right and be herself, even if that brings ridicule from guys like Travis and Mitch. She can even handle the verbal jabs of Jennavive Taylor, the most popular girl in school.

But soon Molly faces a whole new challenge. When Molly s best friend is swept away by the school's top athlete and top party guy Molly unexpectedly finds herself attracted to his best friend. Reality tells her this relationship could never work out, but her heart tells her otherwise.

This enchanting, true-to-life novel takes you along on Molly's journey, where humbling Homecoming dates and heartaches are mingled with valued friendships and staying true to the truth . . . while unknowingly helping others along the way.

This book had an amazing effect on my life. I first read it when I was about 16. At that time I was a Young Woman stuggling with myself and my faith in the gospel. I quickly read the book and gave it back to my friend. Two years later, I would find myself inactive, pregnant, and single. During that pregnancy, I would often think back to this novel and The stuggles of Molly and her teenage friends. Because of this book, I was reminded to search out LDS Family Services and discuss my options. I am grateful to this book and author for letting me know that such services were available. I eventually placed my daughter for adoption and found my way back to the Church. How funny to think that something you read at the age of 16 could have such a profound effect on your life.

Molly is ridiculed by some of the kids in her high school because she tries to live church standards. However, she stays true to her values and eventually helps Brandon come back to the church. This is a cute LDS novel for probably ages 14-16. It's predictable and kind of cheesy, but I enjoyed it.

I was unsure if I wanted to read a book about a mormon teenager, but I found that I really enjoyed it. It wasn't too much in your face and the story line reminded me of my own high school days. It was a great read.

I LOVED this book!! I started reading this at around midnight one night and I told myself I was only going to read one chapter... that didn't happen!! I read the ENTIRE book in less than two hours. After I completed this book I wanted to start it over and read it again!!

Molly is a fun, likeable character. I'd definitely recommend this book to all LDS teens and those who are teens at heart. :-)

I really like it! It was really all about the atonement and how we can still come back to Heavenly Father but in the eyes of a teenaged girl. It is a little lovey dovey, but it was WAY good!

This book is based on the story of a girl (Molly) who is a Member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints and her life in high school. The book is based in Oakley, Idaho, which adds context to how the majority of the town are also members of the Church. Molly shares her experiences in high school and what it's like to be surrounded by people who may not make the best decisions, despite them being a member of the Church. She shares stories of what it's like to serve, become friends with enemies, and to love others who have made mistakes. The author did a great job with telling Molly's story, and what it's like to go through high school as a Member of the Church of the Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. There always good moments and bad moments with being a member of the Church, and the author did a great job showing this in the story! Despite what choices others are making, we can still stick to our beliefs and promises that we have made personally, and the author does well with showing this in the book as well.

I loved reading this book. I was able to relate to this book in many ways, including how the book was based in a town that is about 45 minutes to 1 hour away from my hometown. My high school may have not had as many members of the Church, compared to Oakley, Idaho, but I could still relate because we still had quite a few members for a small town. I was surrounded by people who wouldn't make the best decisions, despite them being a member of the Church or not. So, I always had to remember to stick to the promises that I had made with the Lord and the beliefs that I had about the Gospel as well. Honestly, I wasn't tempted in ways that others are in high school, but there were still times when I had to stand up to others making fun of me for being a member of the Church. Most of the time they didn't make fun of me, but there were still times where people didn't like how I was a member of the Church in high school. Most of my friends respected my beliefs and I respected theirs, but I feel there was always opposition because there were many different religions that people followed in my high school. Anyways, I was able to relate to this book in many ways. It was an amazing story, and I would highly recommend it to anyone!

I am so not the target audience for this--being neither Mormon nor in high school--but it was so cute I couldn't resist. It popped up as a rec for me because I've read a few LDS romances lately, and it was worth the read, not least because it gave me a bit more of an "insider's view" of LDS culture that should deepen my appreciation for the romances. I bought the next two books in the series as well, so I'm looking forward to seeing what happens next.

(And why am I reading LDS romances? Because sometimes I'm really in the mood for "sweet," non-explicit contemporary romances, and they seem to dependably deliver that.)

a fun book ! yes the persona of Molly Mormon is what Molly is trying to ditch. She is a teenager trying to be the best she can be in class, on the basketball court, in her family. One of her cousins falls for the dashing football quarterback hero. this is a great book series for teens and adults. Molly Mormon, Molly Married, Molly Mommy are quick fun reads. I have read and reread. Tamra is a talented author

Most LDS novels like this seem corny, but she is like Jack Weyland and I enjoyed this book very much! A very touching story of a girl who becomes Mormon, basically. Not instantly, but well-planned.

I LOVE THIS BOOK! I love it when I can laugh out loud and feel like I'm right there next to the character or even feel like I AM the character! It's an amazing book and even better if you are LDS and can understand the morals and how the character feels as an LDS girl in high school.

Although the title made me hesitant, dreading an awful amount of cheesy content, I took the risk. This book is amazing! It captures many of my own thoughts and taught me how to be a better teenager in a world of opposition. I'm glad to read such a wholesome book. It was quite refreshing!

This story deals with several challenges that LDS young women might find themselves faced with. I liked how the main character stayed true to her beliefs, but I also felt like a lot of the situations in the story (and the way they were handled) were fairly predictable.

Read this out of order; I read the sequel before this. And actually, I liked this one better than the second one. Not sure why...Maybe because of the changes that people made in their lives.
