I’m not one of them. I never will be.
I’ve got monsters; they’ve got demons.
I don’t belong here, but I’ve got nowhere else to go.
I’ve lived through the stuff of nightmares, but I might not survive this new hell…

I died with my mother, except I came back and she didn’t.
Now I must live at Crowrest Manor, where the most affluent and elite young minds make their breakthroughs.
I'm intimately familiar with the nightmares that haunt my ever waking hour. I thought that torment was the worst it could get, but that was before I met Victor, Malcolm, and Nikolai.

Victor Frankenstein—the boy obsessed with defeating death.
Malcolm Van Helsing—the boy obsessed with his ancestor’s curse.
Nikolai Jykell—the boy obsessed with evil in the heart of men.

When they discover my brush with death, I become their next specimen. They want to take me apart, to use me to satisfy their curiosities, their thirst for the occult.

Within the walls of this school, I'll find out exactly how far they're willing to go, and just how much they can get away with.

But I have a secret. One that will drive their demons mad.

And bring my monsters down on us all.

Obsession is a modern gothic bully reverse harem featuring classic figures in an elite academy where they break the boundaries between their world and the occult. A suspenseful blend of the supernatural and romance, ghosts and students, possessions and laboratories, this book contains adult themes that could be upsetting to some readers.

Obsession by Marie Robinson is the first book in the new series - Institute for Gifted Minds, and a story that took me on an extremely deep emotional connection with with MC - Shelley that had my heart breaking for her.

I’m not traditionally a lover of dark and bully romances, but this story I felt deep in my heart. The angst, ostracising, heartbreak and spooky undertones, brought to surface emotions that I wasn’t expecting to experience whilst reading this book.

The way the author has created this world had me so engrossed in the storyline, with characters inspired from classics - Victor Frankenstein, Malcolm Van Helsing and Nikolai Jykell, and an overall world and academy that was dark and addictive.

Obsession is a modern gothic bully reverse harem, which isn’t something that I would normally read, but I’m so glad I did and one I’d definitely recommend. I can’t wait to read the next book - Retribution.

This was an enjoyable read. I chose it because I love and I do mean LOVE, old classic Hollywood horror movies (think Frankenstein, Dracula, the Wolf Man) and this academy story was a new refreshing take on all of those stories.

In this book, our main character moves to an academy for gifted students. She is not considered gifted, but her new guardian (after her mother dies) is the head mistress there. From the moment she sets foot into the school, she is at odds with everyone. New and different she finds her away among the others, all with famous names and unique characteristics.

I loved the fresh take on both these familiar characters but also on the academy story line. This book really pulled me in and allowed for a wonderful escape from reality. I want to say more but am afraid of spoilers, LOL. I think readers will enjoy this book and would recommend it to lovers of fun unique character driven stories. I received an ARC and I am leaving an honest review.

This was wickedly beautifully written. I loved that this book has the gothic feel to it. You have Mary who is brought to the institute because she has no where else to go. So why did she end up there? What is going on with her? So when she meets Victor, Malcolm and Nikolia they don't see her but see her as a science experiment. She is bullied in school by her other classmates. Even by her great aunt. So can she handle it? What happens when she starts seeing the monsters? Not the ones the guys hide from her. Will she break or finally run? There are moments where is gets steamy but it stops. I can not get a handle on whether the guys are hiding their true feelings about her. So when I got to the end of the book I was stunned. I need more and cannot wait for the next book.

Obsession

A take on a monster type Academy. Mary survived her mother did not. Running from monsters her whole life only to end up with her great aunt who is one cold cookie in the Academy for the gifted. Everything was pretty confusing to me. Bullies yet monsters yet not. Attraction so fast and wanting opioids. Just all over the place

Must know what happens next!

Complete page turner right from the start! Some really relatable situations and some that piss me off. These guys dump food on her, treat her like a slave, call her horrible names but yet she trusts them? Wtf. But like all her books I'm hooked!

Interesting

This premise was interesting particularly the main characters. Honestly I have no idea where this story is going but I enjoyed the book and look forward to book 2.

Different spin on the bully academy trope. Love the old tales of Frankenstein, Jekyll and Hyde and Van Helsing so was interested to read this. Easy to read, I don't think I connected with the FMC straight away but the boys were intriguing enough to keep reading.

Not my favorite. It’s a book where I probably won’t read the next one. At the end I just trying to finish it.
