Ron Ripley is a husband and father surviving in New England, a place which seems to be getting colder every day. He grew up across from a disturbingly large cemetery where he managed to scare himself every night before going to bed. Mostly because of the red lights that people put in front of the headstones. Those things are just plain creepy to a kid.
Ron enjoys writing horror, military history and driving through the small towns of New England with his family, collecting books and giving impromptu lectures on military history to his family, who enjoy ignoring him during those dreadful times.
Daniels vai vienkārši Dens Teits vien vēlas dzīvē jaunu iespēju gan karjerā, kur iepriekšējo un visai daudzsološo žurnālista karjeru traģiska atgadījuma dēļ nespēja turpināt, gan attiecībās ar dēlu Āronu un meitu Emīliju, ar kuriem galvenokārt paša attieksmes un dusmu kontroles problēmu dēļ nav bijušas tās pašas labākās. Ne visiem, pat saprotot savas kļūdas, pieņemot tās un apņemoties laboties, otra iespēja dzīvē maz tiek dota. Vien Dens nenojauš, cik ļoti gaidāmo sešu grāmatu sērijas notikumi pārbaudīs šo apņemšanos.
A new ghost raises the death toll in Anger, and not all of our heroes may survive. Well written with well crafted characters, it is an engrossing read.
When Janet begins going after Dan's kids, everything begins to turn upside down. The plan that her employer has to take over the town is beginning to unravel, and Dan is standing in the way. As the town continues to experience strange deaths, the police are stumped as to what is going on.
A man with many issues, but an extremely good heart, a hero to both the living, as well as the dead, is finally finding a home in a town called Anger, what could possibly go wrong?
I was lucky enough to have gotten a free audio book code from Scare street. I am volunteering to leave this review. Awesome book plenty of twist and turns that will keep you on the edge of your seat.
A gore-laden Series, nonetheless worth cherishing for the characters and the author's gift for creating imaginative promises. The metaphysical battle for Anger, New Hampshire, an innocent little unassuming community, rages on. On one side are "devil's advocates," human psychic medium Janet Ladd, her director, ghost Beverly [both cold-hearted women] and Beverly's mysterious and elusive handler, a "local" living woman, plus the ghosts Janet traps to do her bidding--brutal every one. Arrayed against her are those who serve Light: Feckless Hero Dan; young ghost Eli, his ghost cousin Vincent, and Detective Evan Coffin of the New Hampshire State Police, also a "ghost believer." In BLOODY ANGER [a phrase with multiple resonances here] we discover more about why Janet, Beverly, and Beverly's handler, have determined to destroy this town. More and more we can only hope that author Ron Ripley is on the verge of bringing in his ghost-hunting "Big Guns": Shane (notable in several others of Mr. Ripley's stories). Anger, New Hampshire, is in definite need of exorcising the evil strangling the community.
I was provided this book by the publisher for reviewing purposes.
I've read all the books in this series, and whilst they're all well written, have great characters and a compelling story arc that encompasses all four books, the one thing I find dissatisfying is that much like Boyd Craven books they don't really end per se, but rather abruptly stop leaving you needing to obtain the next book in the series to get closure.
Now, that's not to say it's not worth reading, as I have certainly enjoyed not only this but the three prior books. The world the author paints is immersive and enthralling with enough gore and violence to sate most horror fans, and enough mystery to keep you glued to the pages to find out what's happening and where things are heading.
I would recommend the series to horror and paranormal fans, but would like to see some closure in at least some of the plots before highly recommending it as the lack of resolution at the end of such novels is something that always bothers me as a reader.
This is the fourth book in the Tortured Souls series by Ron Ripley. I am enjoying this series immensely. We are introduced to Olivia. She is a ghost who is determined to kill Dan. Part of the reason is Mary's house. Dan has inherited it and the ghosts want it for the power it has. Each book seems to bring the tension up ten-fold. The ghosts get more violent and evil and Dan and his friends become more determined to stop Janet and her ghosts. Each book ends in a way that makes you yearn for the next book. I'm not sure I would have stuck with this series had I started it when the first book came out and then had to wait so long for the next book in the series. If you like ghost stories then this series is a must read.
Dan Tate is back and better than ever. He is still being hunted by ghosts in Anger that need him out of their way, but he also has befriended other ghosts that help him. Enter Olivia, a particularly nasty female ghost whose favorite pastime is killing people in particularly gruesome ways. She is tasked with hunting down and eliminating Dan Tate before he takes possession of Mary's house left to him in her will. The house is a center of power and both sides in this supernatural struggle need it to win. A mysterious someone is calling the shots in this battle for the evil side. Who it is, nobody knows. But Dan has powerful allies of his own that are about to enter the fray. I shall say no more lest I spoil it for those yet to enjoy this series. This series is right up there with Ron Ripley's best work. I am looking forward to the next book in this series. Excellent stuff.
The action never stops. I love Dan and am happy the way things turned out with the piece of jewelry. Mr Ripley has a gift for storytelling & his characters are so believable - even the ghosts. Love his writing. Just to note that these books are not standalone. They must be read in sequence. It is also helpful if your read the "Berkley Street " series first. This is just another page-Turner. This series is great for fans of ghost stories and alot of action.
The talented Mr. Ripley has scored again!! What an entertaining read!! I love the amazingly developed characters, the story, suspense...everything!! You will not regret reading this book and series. My only complaint it that I NEED MORE!! Bravo Mr. Ripley & Team Scare Street...you've rocked out yet another WIN!
This series is really starting to get old. This was book four out of six. There seems to be a ton of effort in trying to stretch this story line out for as long as possible. Instead of making it interesting or using more details, there have been more characters added and some backstories. It isn’t getting more interesting with the additions.
Just like the books before it this doesn't lack in the plot driven Dan Tate and Janet Ladd tale. I'm still just as hooked as I was on book 1! Now someone else is coming to the lil town of anger, Mr Shawn Ryan, and he means business! Janet had better hide, seeing as she doesn't really think Shawn to be a real threat I doubt she will. Absolute must read!
Another fantastic book in the Anger series. I read the first one for free and have been hooked ever since. Finished the 4th book and am reading the 5th one now. Excellent story line, lovable and hate able characters... just another one you have trouble putting down. Ron Ripley could suck you into buying a phone book if he wrote it lol
Wow what a read the plot gets better and better one of those books you want to read but don't want to finish good to hear Shane is still in the background and what an ending couldn't believe the ending !!left us with soo much to know can't wait for the next !!Mr Ripley your such a tease !!
I loved it, and it continues can't wait for more, still hoping that Janet and her "friends" will get theirs and maybe Dan's kids will want to come stay with him now that he has a house.
This series is exciting and full of paranormal suspense! I really enjoy how the author is able to weave the story and create a feeling of empathy for Dan and his ghost friends. What a great book!
Following on from the series. Dan inherits Mary’s house. Can he face the challenges to come ? I highly recommend the series of books and can’t wait to begin the next.
