Lord Have Mercy is a graphic novel set in the world of 1960's small town Catholic social circles. Follow the flowering relationship between Father Luke and Sister Esther as they struggle between their love for each other and their faith. It has romance, drama, and humor with energetic characters and an art style partially influenced by retro mid-century and cartoon-modern styles. Written and illustrated by Savie Smith and co-written by Brogan Chattin. Updates Wednesdays.
Freaking loved this one cos: 👍 Perfect art and illustration 👍 Strong character development 👍 Awesome chemistry 👍 The facial expressions of the characters are well up to mark (it's rare to see such in comics) 👍 The humour : well played!
What I didn't like: 👎 It's never cool to make fun of religious matters and beliefs 👎 Bit uncomfortable regarding the flirting (or the upcoming romance) between a Father and A Sister in a convent.
But still I will read the upcoming updates. Love the effort of the artist.
(ongoing) This is a segment where I'll be fawning until the series get over. God, those pastel shades in the illustrations. And the shadows and light observation. And how the pages are bathed in certain strip of colours so completely. This is a comic I read whenever I want to treat myself with good art style. It brings my eyes peace.
Super fun and enjoyable, which is suprising (or rather the exact opposite) giving the fact that I really dont know or understand anything about the catholic church...
Love the artwork and read for the art but the I wasn’t really engaged in the story, I think it’s because it seemed to be a slow burn and I was losing focus since I like a more fast paced read.
Don't remember when I started reading this webcomic but finally caught up to the next volume and it feels like a warm hug. Fav character is the cat for sure. Also things went down?
