A deadly disease has spread through the Blooming Courts of Tuatha.
The louloudi are meant to flourish for a thousand years before they return to the Earth. Death has been a distant foe for so long, no one spares it any thought. Until now. As sickness sweeps through the kingdom, with the cure always just out of reach, the courts have never been filled with so many blossoms. Even in death, they breathe life.
Ila Slystina has been raised in the confines of the Orchidasi Kingdom, wanting for nothing, hidden away like some sparkling treasure, but she dreams of so much more. When she’s caught returning from a forbidden trip, her mother, the Orchidasi Queen, punishes her the only way she sees fit.
Ila is sent on her season far earlier than she should be. Now, she’s being paraded through the twelve courts like a prized cow and she wants nothing more than to escape.
Her mother wants her to collect power. But Ila finds herself collecting hearts instead.
With death surrounding her on every side, and new dangers sprouting up at every turn, can Ila learn to balance the mischief that sings in her soul with her duty to her people?
After all, the courts aren’t the only things that must bloom . . .
Kendra Moreno is secretly a spy but when she’s not dealing in secrets and espionage, you can find her writing her latest adventure. She lives in Texas where the summer days will make you melt, and southern charm comes free with every meal. She’s a recovering Road Rager (kind of) and slowly overcoming her Star Wars addiction (nope!), and she definitely didn’t pass on her addiction to her son (she did). She has one hellhound named Mayhem who got tired of guarding the Gates of Hell and now guards her home against monsters. She’s a geek, a mother, a scuba diver, a tyrannosaurus rex, and a wordsmith who sometimes switches out her pen for a sword.
If you see Kendra on the streets, don’t worry: you can distract her with talks about Kylo Ren or Loki. #LokiLives #BringBackBenSolo

I was completely enraptured by this story. I love old school fae, the kind with counting quirks, rules and riddles. I really love this version as well, where the fae are based on flowers. It reminds me strongly of Shakespeare's Midsummer Night's Dream the way the fae are described and interact.
We have our MC, who is a spoiled princess whose lived in a sheltered bubble in her court for all her life. Through a series of events, she gets the chance to see the other fae courts in her world, and oh my the world building. So many otherworldly things to discover, the authors put in a lot of imagination and attention to detail in this story.
There are a few things that I think could have been better, in the sense that a few things were explained a little more.
I would have also loved way more time spent on alternate view points from the characters. I need to know more about what's going on in grumpy Olis's head. It also would have been nice to hear more from the humans, but i'm pretty sure this book is just the set up before we really get into the meat of it.
I'll do a full review but for now if you're starting this my advice is to give it to 60% before making up your mind! Its a slow builder and it wasn't until the introduction of Torren that I started to enjoy it.
5 stars Who let me read this book! It was sooo good, and the second book isn’t out yet! I am crying over the loss of this book and will forever be scarred from reading it.
Pages: 377 My rating: 3 Read other books by this author in the future: yes
Showing my good will, I am rating this book with 3 stars. For the first 60% I was struggling with this book. It took this long to convince me not to dnf it, basically the #cakeeaters from RHR who already finished the book, encouraged me to read on. At the beginning I could not detect a storyline. The reader gets to know facts about Ila’s birth and after a big time gap it’s about Ila’s life and her special power. But the different things do not add up and Ila does not seem to be very sympathetic. She is rebelling a lot then she is not interested in her education. And using her Power she wanders of and we are witness to some smut. Tattoos appear and Ila does not investigate, what this means for her. She seemed like a spoiled, rebellious princess but she has a good loyal heart. This said, I am skipping to 60% with the entry of Torren we suddenly find a storyline and things begin to make sense. And also it got more exiting to read the rest. So I will give the next book a try and hope it will not take this much time, until I get hooked.
This entire review has been hidden because of spoilers.
Honestly, I had higher expectations for this book. I felt no emotions related to character relationships, they all felt false. The sex/intimacy was awkward, I actually skipped some of those scenes because they made me feel weird...it’s hard to describe.
I didn’t particularly care for the FMC, she felt like an immature child. Most of the time I was highly annoyed by the princess. The way FMC was written felt like she was a 15-16 year old girl. Maybe that’s why I was so uncomfortable with her insta orgies. Idk.
I didn’t like her guard, Olis, at all. I felt like he was extremely disrespectful and downright horrid. I would have demanded a new guard for sure. I don’t like that the book seems to be setting him up to be a future mate.
Her “relationship” with the three humans really set my teeth on edge. It was all artifice and “insta lust”. They were honestly jumping into orgies and mating within the first few chapters. No personalities. No character development. Not good writing at all.
I appreciated the beautiful descriptions of their world, especially Lumia (or whatever it’s called). I really liked her King, he was the most authentic person in the book. I loved all nature and animals described. I also think her cute little Queenie will make an adorable and interesting addition to the story.
I did not like that the fae were flower people. The whole concept wasWAYtoo far out of my comfort zone. In the prologue the author describes Wisteria giving birth to her baby and there were VINES as the placenta. 100% TMI, seriously. I was extremely disturbed by the mental image of the midwife pulling vines out of her vagina, which was literally described. *Gag*
I love fae books but I appreciate when they at least follow very basic fae guidelines. These weird flower people made me want to close the book after the prologue.
All in all, I won’t be continuing this series. Thank goodness it’s over. This was hard to read from the start.
So, immediately after reading this I went to see when the next book is out. The next is out March 31. There are 5 total books. Basically one a month I guess with the last one due out June 30. I know, I know! Things sometimes change but I am impressed they are set to release so fast! How nice!
Also, a huge thank you to the authors for not leaving things on a major cliffhanger. A little one is fine, as they have done. I really appreciate when authors handle things more tidily.
Now, the book! It was different than I thought it would be. Some things were a bit predictable... the priestess, for example. But the flower birth thing was unique... at least for me. I like plot. The FMC has some growing up to do and I look forward to seeing that. I like the king a lot. I kinda wish we had seen more of her 3 humans though. I guess maybe later? I am not sure I completely felt the connection with those three. At least not yet.
Olis is a jerk, lol. I kinda like him though. I will like him better if he can learn to chill a bit though.
I wasn’t in the right head space for this book. It’s not the book it was me. The book club peeps said to get to 60% and I made it to 45% I just couldn’t be bothered to keep going.
Soz fam. No rating as I think the book prolly is a great read but yer not for me
DNF at 41% after Ila and her entourage make it to Crassula Court. It took me months to get through the book so far due to its glacial pacing and super irritating princess FMC Ila, and I finally had enough due to the lack of interest to finish the book at this time.
The world was super fascinating with theme of flower families, and the reviews from others seemed to be positive, but Ila was so friggin immature and selfish and entitled that I couldn't stand her for more than a few chapters at a time. I had originally expected to be on her side due to her unfortunate birth, but nope, she didn't seem to have any type of humility. She kept self-reflecting that her guard Olis considered her useless and spoiled, and she kept trying to prove him wrong, but all she did was prove him right again and again with her reckless actions.
The smut with the humans ramped up extremely quickly, and I don't think it was ever well explained why Ila was the one called to answer their requests and not some other fae? Many of the POV chapters we got from the humans didn't seem to be necessary and just added to the extremely slow pacing of the book.
I might try to read this book again at another time, but I'm done for now.
I only saw the cover and decided to read it, I have no idea that this book is a Reverse Hareem. Sure, I have my fair share of rh books, but I'd rather try to stay away from this genre.
The first thing I noticed was the world building in this book, and let me tell you it was spectacularly done. The various fairy that have wings and come from different fauna kingdom. The pets and animals are also cute, now I'll keep imagining a big dragonfly (I am scared of insect). The cultural diversity is written with delicate details will sure makes you curious for more. Think of it like Tinkerbell series.
The heroine is a lovely character, but what makes this book remain still in my mind is the romance in the half the end of the book, I promise you that it will not disappoint you. If you're a fans of dark mysterious charming prince. Wait untill Torren being introduced in the story. At first I was annoyed by her strings of relationship with the human boys, thanks God there's Torren.
I really wish it's not a rh book, well what's done is done, and I better be grateful it's there to begin with.
This book is intended for mature reader because of explicit sexual content.
Am I supposed to like Ila? She presents as really young, she doesn't seem to think about how her actions effect others which leads her to do irresponsible and dumb things. Naive.
This book is a whole different ball game in regards to faeries and their way of life. I love that each species is named after a type of flower or plant and their characteristics also resemble that plant. The worlds that Moreno and Woods built in this book were superb. They put so much detail into the characters and their surroundings that you could picture it in your head.
I instantly liked Ila and although she may be a bit mischievous and immature she learned so much is such a small amount of time. I am so excited to see how she grows throughout the series. As well as who she amasses as her mates.
Kendra and Poppy killed it with this book. I simply could not put it down and I am impatiently waiting for the next in the series. Especially after that cliffhanger.
I have no words to express my love for this book. I love these two authors and when they get together something magical happens. I've been dying to start reading this series from the moment it was announced. I knew that it was going to be phenomenal, but as usual, the author have surpassed all of my highest expectations! The authors have created a world I want get get lost in. I have no idea where the inspiration came from but I have never read anything like this. The world starts in one faerie, or louloudi as they call themselves, court where the main character is born, and expands throughout the story into several more kingdoms, and there is every indication that there will be more. The world is beautiful, and each court is beautiful in its own way. The author's detailed colourful descriptions made me see all the courts in their full glory. It felt like I was there. The main character Ila, is the crown princess of the Orchidasi court, the ruling court, and she is the daughter of the coldhearted queen prone to intrigue and cruelty. Ila is a beautiful troublemaker who does not conform to the societal and imposed norms. She does not fit in, not she wants to fit in. She yearns for freedom and free life choices. Fortunately, she is accompanied by her best friend and partner in crime Cerulea, who came to her as a companion as a child and they grew up together. I say fortunately, because had it not been for Cerulea, Ila would be alone in the world due to her uniqueness. I have to admit that I fell in love with Ila right from the beginning. She is pretty amazing, and Cerulea is a best kind of friend anyone could ever have. The story itself is freaking amazing, the plot so complex and full of various events, twists and turns, some completely expected and logical, and some I didn't see coming. That was the best part, the unpredictability of it. There is so much intrigue, loved it. Then there are beautiful calm moments filled with love and friendship and very unexpected alliances. Oh, and I almost forgot to mention that there are some very heated moments in this book. I mean scorching hot. This book won my heart from the start and I fell in love with the series. I could not be happier to know that there are four more books coming. I cannot wait to see what kind of trouble Ila gets herself into and I cannot wait what kind of intrigue is coming, because it seems to be something epic. Just when I thought I could not love the authors more. Books need to be read in order: Resurrect: A High Fantasy Reverse Harem (The Blooming Courts Book 1), Sprout: A High Fantasy Reverse Harem (The Blooming Courts Book 2), Flourish: A High Fantasy Reverse Harem (The Blooming Courts Book 3), Emerge: A High Fantasy Reverse Harem (The Blooming Courts Book 4), Blossom: A High Fantasy Reverse Harem (The Blooming Courts Book 5). NOTE: Those of you who got the pre-order, there was a tiny formatting mistake which in no way affects this beautiful story, all you have to do is read chapter 29, after chapter 24 and then continue normally. This will be fixed in a matter of days.
Real talk. I want sure about this book when I started reading it. I absolutely cannot stand young, immature, rebellious female main characters. I usually find them ridiculous, unlikable, and unreadable. Ila was all of those things. BUT here's the thing, it worked! It worked with the storyline about who she is, why she did what she did, and why she thinks the way she does. The authors really set her up for growth throughout the series, and I actually look forward to seeing that. Ila has a really good heart and wants to learn and do the right thing. Her terrible mother just wasn't the right person to teach her that, but these new people in her life will.
I liked how this book started out with a sexy bang (literally and figuratively). It moved into fantastic world building. I loved all of the places Ila went and the people she met and the situation she got herself into. The characters were so likable had such distinct personalities. When a lot of characters are introduced in a story, they can sometimes get lost and their personalities diluted. Not this book! The authors did such a great job painting a unique picture for each character. It was like the Wizard of Oz on steroids. I cannot wait for the next installment!
There are a couple of things I REALLY loved about this and some things that kept it from being amazing.
The good: Its a take on ACTUAL faerie. So often are the fae just glorified humans but in this its all based off flowers with faerie compulsions. They cant lie and giving out their name is a no no. I like that Ila is so herself and not afraid to stand up to anyone.
I LOVE the world building. It is soooo beautiful and a true fantasy land. I did find myself enjoying it a lot once Torren was introduced.
the eh: Sometimes the pacing was just odd. I am going to assume it was because its the first book. trying to world build and introduce all these characters can come with challenges. Sometimes things would be introduced as if you should already know what they were. This was confusing in certian points.
I also wish we got more in depth with the men as their chapters tended to end super fast. We never got to learn that much.
However its super interesting and unique for the genre. I am excited to read the next book.
I received an ARC of this book in exchange for my honest review.
Wow, I was totally blown away by this book. I absolutely loved the story line. I really felt like I was getting to know the characters. Princess Ila is so complex and totally not what one would expect.
The beautiful written descriptions of the Basid, Crassula and Lunari Courts left me feeling like I was there. I could close my eyes and see myself in each of these courts. And how could I choose which one to stay in.... I can't. And to think, there are more courts to explore.
This book is full of mischief, adventure and action, friendships and love. I enjoyed getting to know each of these characters while reading the book. Ila's character really spoke to me as she was trying to figure out who she was and to be who she wanted to be (not who her mom wants her to be).
This book was magical! These two authors are both excellent storytellers on their own, but you put them together and magic truly happens. Princess Ila has stolen my heart. She’s headstrong, rebellious, yet naive about the realm she’s meant to rule-and wants nothing to do with. Above all, she’s kind-hearted and determined not to be like her mother. As she sets out to travel through the 12 courts, she meets some remarkable people and grows both as a person and a princess. There’s an entire gamut of emotions in this book; frustration, sadness, love, anger, unmitigated joy, wonder, fear and awe. I lived through them all right along with Ila. This book was so well written, with such vivid descriptions that I can still “see” the courts Ila and company visited. I’m so glad that there will be 4 more books, because stuff needs to happen-no spoilers here so if you want to know what ‘stuff’ I’m talking about, get this book! It is a truly magical and epic fantasly.
The Blooming Courts is a new world created by Kendra and Poppy revolving around a beautiful fae race called the louloudi. At the center of the story is Ila, the princess of the ruling Orchidasi courts. She is not your average Orchidasi, something that becomes apparent when she is forced into her season early. She must visit the other eleven courts of Tuatha in an effort to build relationships and explore her lands. Ila fights for her independence from her overbearing mother, her unpredictable powers, and the love that blooms between her and her men. Ila is the badass fae heroine I didn’t know I needed! There will be a total of five books in the series, so this does end on a cliffhanger, but it is SO worth the wait! Pick this up today
If you are looking for an amazing fantasy book, look no further cause this book is it. So I started this book wondering where I was going to be transported to. Well, I was surprised to find that I am traveling in fairy land. Ila is a fairy princess who likes to cause a little trouble. So then her mother decides to send her on her season. Which is to go to several courts and maybe find a match. Well on this journey we get an amazing detail of other fairy lands and meet new friends. Oh there are some emotional moments through out this book and I got teary eyed. Ila is learning more about herself. However, something has started happening and now we have to wait to find out. I cannot wait to read the next book in this series.
OHMYGODS!!!! I absolutely love this book so hard!!! It was so unique and original. It captivated me from the first to the last page.
You've never seen fey like these before, they truly are of nature. There's orchid fey and lots of other type of plant fey. I love the way that each court is completely unique. Ila, the mc, is headstrong and mischievous, sometimes a bit reckless but completely endearing. I look forward to watching her character grow. Oh and just wait until the waterfall scene. Hihi
Now hurry up and go one-click this book, it's time to start a fantastical journey into Tuatha. I promise you won't regret it. 💙
I absolutely adore Kendra and Poppy their works, and this book doesnt let down at all!
The building of this amazing world blows my mind, all the details, the creatures, the grotto the bloody everything, this book has been written in such detail it will take you there like it's real!
It's the first of 5 books and I cant wait to see where it will take us all. I got all these questions during reading and although they got answered it just didn't go as I thought it would go.
5 stars for world building 5 stars for character building 5 stars for keeping me guessing the whole book through
Welll, this book was amazingly magical! Seriously. I was blown away with this story and the way Kendra and Poppy were able to create such a magical story that makes you feel as if you are taking Princess Ila’s journey with her.
There’s adventure, drama, fairies, steam, oh and a really hot and magical waterfall scene that you are not ready for. Talk about sexy!! Overall, I was so pleased with this story and think it is a wonderful start to this series. I really appreciated how we saw Ila grow as both a princess and a person and I cannot wait to see what is in store for her in book 2!
Dive into this magical fantasy world today! Plus it’s on KU right now so you really have no excuse!
Are you ready for a journey into romance, love, mystery's, and lie's? I say yes you are step inside, get comfy, and enjoy the ride. This is an amazing story, beautifully written, it's an easy read, fast paced and don't worry there is plenty of heat. Come say hello to Ila and the men that hold her heart. They created a world so beautifully, and all the critters and characters in this world, will take your hand and walk you through their lives. Oh and since Ila is a Princess, you shouldn't keep her waiting.
Poppy and kendra have made a world that will allow many more books to come. The book did take alittle bit to warm up and for me to understand. But once everything came together I really enjoyed it. Even made me tear up a bit. My favorite character has got to be the ila's bestfriend. She's there for her, encourages her rebellious nature and sticks up for her...all the makings of a good friend. I liked the humans in the story but at the same time they also seemed like a separate story. I did not like her guard but he seems like the type of character you sent suppose to like.
I haven't wrapped my head around how I feel about this book yet. I devoured the first half with the humans and Ila's interaction with the supporting characters. However, I found her difficult to like at times. She's spoiled, if not to say a brat and annoyingly reckless. But given that this series has five books, I'm assuming such annoying traits are there to allow room for growth.
In addition to character development, I'm hoping to have a better understanding of Olis - and his relationship with Ila - as well as the humans. I'm not sure where or how everyone fits, but I'm interested enough to keep reading.
A very interesting start to this new series! I am enjoying learning about this new universe and how it all functions. The characters are intriguing and many have mysteries I am most curious to solve! Ila is definitely interesting and her mother definitely seems up to nefarious things! I will say there was a lot of information to take in from this book but it has got me hooked! I look forward to continuing the series!
I was hooked once I started I just couldn't put it down. The detail that these ladies put into this book was just outstanding. The world building was incredible and I could just picture myself in the world as well. There is such great character building that I can't wait to read the next books in the series to see how much he characters grow.
If your into fantasy and a good RH I recommend this 100% you won't regret it.
Kendra and Poppy are back at it again! These two amazing authors have teamed up again to bring Resurrect, a wonderful introduction into a new faerie world of wonder, intrigue, and details. Ila is an amazing FMC. It's been awhile since I felt truly connected and aware of a main character and their motivations and connections. I love how she pushes herself to grow and learn after being constrained. This book is equally hot, intriguing, well written and developed, and definitely pulls readers in. I cannot wait for the second installment of the series!
The world the Kendra and Poppy are able to paint is astonishing. It feels like you are a part of Ila's world. The detail that they are able to add to the story makes you almost believe that Tautha is a real place. Ila is one of my favorite characters and I can not wait to see what other trouble she finds herself in. This is a wonderful start to this series and I can not wait to see how the story progresses.
