Love at first sight? Most would say yeah right. It’s bullshit, especially for a kid in high school. But for me, it was real.
I met her at a rock concert. There I was lost in a crowd, hands in the air and listening to my favorite band, when suddenly all I could see was her out of hundreds of people as if she was standing under a spotlight. I’d never seen anything like her. I knew in that moment I wasn’t leaving that place without at least hearing her speak.
So I broke the ice with something we obviously had in common—music.
I never expected for it to lead to parking in the backseat of my truck on a backroad late at night. One thing led to another, and the next thing I knew I owned her virginity. She was mine for a night. Then the summer. And before I knew what was happening, I couldn’t stay away. I kept her to myself. Not even my bandmates knew who the girl was that was taking up all of my time.
Then school started back and I found out her real age. I was fucked. Because by that point I was in love. No one could know. Sneaking around was better than not having her at all. But the thing about high school—secrets don’t stay secrets for long. Parents have a way of finding out things. And statutory rape charges become very real. My life went from a dream to a nightmare in less than twenty-four hours. Two options were on the table. Either way ruined my life, one just worse than the other. Both drove us apart. I chose the lesser of two evils. I left town. She was off limits in every aspect of the word . . . forever.
Now, years later, I’m still not over her, regardless of how many girls I’ve been with. Haven’t heard from or seen her since the day I left. And with my best friend moving on it’s getting harder not to think about her. But true love is like a boomerang—regardless of where you let it go, it always comes back around.
I found books when I was going through a hard time in life. They became my means of escape when things got bad. I realized quickly how much I loved to take a backseat to someone else's life and watch the journey unfold. That began my journey with books in November of 2012. I constantly had a book open on my Kindle app. Never in a million years would I have imagined myself as a writer, because I never thought I was creative enough. I'm living proof that things will fall into place when they're meant to be. People will make their way into our lives when we don't expect it, setting the path for what we are meant to do. Never give up on people. Never stop taking a chance on others. Someone took a chance on trusting me with her work when she didn't know me from a stranger on the street and gave me the opportunity of a lifetime as our relationship progressed, which led me to editing and writing as well. This is my dream I never knew I had. As soon as I sat down and gave writing a shot, it was like the floodgates opened. Now, I am lost in a world of fiction in my head, new characters constantly screaming for their stories to be told. Continue to dream and to go for them. No one ever found happiness by sitting on the sidelines. Sometimes we have to take risks and put ourselves out there. Thank you for all of your support, and may there be many books to come. XOXO- C
I feel like my tags say a lot, so this review is going to be short. Also I'm weirdly tired on a Friday night, and I really haven't enjoyed this Friday night to its fullest potential.
I almost didn't read this book because the 530 pages really intimidated me, and I was never so interested in reading this couple anyway. I'm so glad I read this book, however, because I really enjoyed it. It was almost a 5 star read for me had the goodness not been interrupted by Paxtyn's & Landon's POV as they met and started their romance that will continue in the next 3 books (why do they need 3 books to tell their story? Also, Landon seems like such an asshole. I will read the books, but I'm not really excited to.)
What I loved most about this book was the secret baby. So Maddox & Gabby had met when Gabby was 13, but Maddox didn't know that Gabby was 4 years younger. Gabby's dad threatened Maddox with statuary rape charges. Then, when Gabby was 15, she got pregnant. Her dad forced her to give the baby up to a family that couldn't have children, though she cried and screamed to keep the children. I love the angst. It turned out that
I wrote in my Kindle notes on page 197, "If this book ends without them meeting their son, I'm going to be so disappointed & sad. Plz don't fail me, Charisse." I'm very happy to say they finally met their precious six-year-old son.
Finding Fate is a phenomenal book, the storyline is complex, emotional, captivating and well thought out. It draws you in and makes you feel what the characters are going through. The joy, sorrow, heartbreak, betrayal, abandonment, forgiveness, passion and LOVE. I was laughing, screaming, happy crying and oh yes UGLY SNOTTY crying, and was ready to throat punch a few people and wanting to hug a lot more. Once I started I couldn't put it down until I finished and I was sad because it ended. I loved how we get to see all our favorite characters and what's going on in their lives. This is my favorite book in the series and that isn't easy for me to say because I love all the books in this series and recommend everyone to read them all. GAH I can't wait so many exciting things to come in Alluring Fate.
I loved so much of this book and highlighted so much that I wanted to share but then I realized that it was almost the whole book. So instead of spoiling it for you I'll leave you with just two.
Maddox talking to Gabby : “Apart we’re only halves, but together we’re whole.”💀🥀❤
“You love me, Gabby?” “More than anything else ,” she says, her hands tugging me closer by my hips. "Then stop worrying about yesterday and tomorrow.” “I want to be thankful for today. The girl I love madly, deeply, is laying here in front of me, and for the longest time I had to live without this. I can change anything else in my life, except the way I feel about you.”
One word to describe Gabby and Maddox...intense. This couple has been through some serious stuff in their lives and they are so strong to come out the other side. The hits just kept coming in their lives but the one thing that never changed was their love for each other. Now some will be uncomfortable with aspects of this story...the nature of it is taboo. To that, I say, get over it...appreciate these characters for who they are. I absolutely fell in love with them just like I have fallen in love with every couple in this entire series. I loved how involved Konnor & Presley and Sayler & Riggan were in this book....they did not have cameos, they were major players. The book is absolutely terrific...bravo to Charisse yet again. And the set up for the next couple....mind blowing. I simply cant wait!!
Y’all.. this book had me all up in my feelings! I absolutely loved Finding Fate! It was amazing, emotional, intense, pretty much a roller coaster!! It just about broke me at times. I laughed some, then I screamed some, but gosh did I cry.. They were both ugly and happy tears but man did it tug on my heart strings.. This was one my favorite books in the series for sure but honestly the ENTIRE Fate series is amazing!!
Charisse Spiers you did it again lady!!! I am so in love with Maddox & Gabby. You never fail to deliver!
This book is such an emotional rollercoaster that will keep you on the edge of your seat.. had some ugly cry's reading this one. Keep them coming lady!
Maddox and Gabbie definitely live a roller coaster life and have an amazing story.
I have read this entire series so far and I am having a hard time deciding which one is my favorite! Can’t wait to see what Charissa comes up with for Paxtyn and Landon.
I feel like this is more of a 3.5 stars but they don't give that option. 4 stars because the characters are awesome and I enjoy the storyline. 3 stars because I felt that this probably could have been a shorter book, some parts felt repetitive and unnecessary.
Maddox and Gabby have such a great story. I have read this entire series so far and I am having a hard time deciding which h one is my favorite. I have already preordered the next one. I can't wait until Sep when I get to read Paxtyn and Landon's story
