I'm in a reading slump! For over a week I havent really felt like reading. I've mostly been listening to podcasts(Michelle Obama's podcast is perfection) I've just been staring at my books and trying to will myself to pick them up. Then i came to a conclusion.....
Reading an actual book just ain't gonna happen.
So Live Your Best Life by The Oprah Magazine is the perfect reading material to pick up. This book is just a bind up of articles from Oprah's Magazine. This book is old(it came out in I think 2007 that's when my mom brought it anyway) so there are some interesting if dated articles like the one with a young Illinois state senator with the unusual name of Barack Obama and his wife Michelle. Everyone laughs when Oprah asks if he'll run for President.
This was a nice stress free read. Reading this made me realize I hasn't read a physical magazine in well over a decade. I've bought some magazines(if Beyonce's on it I buy it) I usually just read them online. Which is interesting because I don't like reading ebooks(I do read them sometimes).
A compilation of interviews and advice from Oprah's magazine. I usually prefer the advice in these books, but in this one I found the articles most interesting. The Jon Stewart interview had a fun story about how he met his wife (she told a friend, "I want to meet someone sweet, like Jon Stewart") and a story about how when he got his first TV show, it took him a while to relax and enjoy it. Barbara Walters told Oprah that if she were to do it over again, she'd spend more time with her kid, and as a result wouldn't have been as successful in her career.
This collection of articles from O, The Oprah Magazine, is an inspiration for women who want to be strong, balanced and happy. Buy this book, read it and share it with all your female friends and family members.
I am reading this like an encyclopedia, choosing the articles I feel like reading at the moment. I love it! You can get a quick lift, some inspiration, information, motivation and then get going on your day!
A quick read that can be summarized in five little powerful words - be excellent to each other. Somewhere in the pages of this book, you just might find a piece of advice or read a story that will inspire you or teach you to follow those five little words.
I read 2023 | Volume 3, Number 1 ("Start Fresh") and particularly enjoyed the interactive section on self-discovery and finding your purpose. The writing was very holistic and honest, invoking deeper thought while remaining realistic to the push and pulls of modern life.
