Hostages. Memories. Heartbeats. The long awaited finale to the epic Power of Five story is here.

The quint has finally reunited, but their stunning new discovery changes everything.

Just as Lera and the males navigate their redefined future, Owalin violently ups the stakes, giving the humans one hour to hand over their kingdoms. Lera must do all she can to help defeat him, even if that means facing down her own males—and the humans themselves.

Because in the fight for the mortal world, every life—and every heart—will lie on the line before the last bell sounds.

THE LAST BELL is the ninth and final installment in the GREAT FALLS ACADEMY novella series. The story takes place in the same world as Alex’s KDP All Star-winning POWER OF FIVE novels but can be read independently.

What is wrong with these endings lately? You build the story for so long, make us fall in love with their lives and experiences, and then you end it. In two pages. With no explanation, no expansion, no.. nothing. Just. The end. This could have been concluded so well. Overall the series was great. Truly. But this last book just made it all bitter sweet.

The whole series kept me captivated and I could do little else but think of the quint. I would have loved a longer epilogue - or more episodes! Alex please write more of them!!!! I would absolutely love that.

The entire series was a page turner and I loved getting to know the characters - could spend even more time with them.

Thank you for writing something so awesome (and sexy) I am sure I will be rereading these regularly.

This was such a bitter sweet read. A fantastic book and an amazing conclusion to this series, which I have adored. I'm so sad to have reached the end, but literally devoured it. This book was read in a single sitting, it was just impossible to put it down. All the loose ends are beautifully tied up, so much suspense in this one right until the end. If I could give more than 5 stars I would.

Absolutely loved delving into this series after the main series!!! Enjoyed how Katita really stepped up and was a just ruler!!

Loved also how it was Lera not River who ended up standing up and saving the day!! This quint and their bond was just lovely to read about.

Honestly i would have liked to see some more about life after they returned to Lunos with the babies coming too, but i really enjoyed this book. The ending was super abrupt and i felt a bit cheated that i waited through 9 novellas for the happy ending but got no epilogue or extra scenes from Lunos.

Im glad that the heroes in some way or another apologised to Lera about their rough treatment during the time they didn’t recognise her. The parts in this series where she was treated badly really got to me, i would have liked to see more cuddles and softness in some sort of extra epilogue tbh lol.

It was fitting that this last episode of the Great Falls Academy series was the last I read in 2019, as each episode of this series was one I looked forward to eagerly. Each episode was like one of a TV series, following characters I loved through all of the action, danger and romance of a series long adventure. The series is written well, in a style that was very reminiscent of the fantasy books of my youth - with the added spice of some sexy adult content. The final episode wraps things up nicely at the Academy and for the quint. It is hard to say goodbye to these characters I loved (Coal!), but I am looking forward to whatever this author has for us next.

Lera, Coal, Tye, Shade, and River are all back for the final episode of Alex Lidell’s fabulous Great Falls Academy serial, and The Last Bell (Episode 9) is a wild rollercoaster of action, suspense and fun. This really was the perfect conclusion to the serial. Strongly recommended is an understatement - but I do equally recommend starting with episode 1, Rules of Stone (separately reviewed) and reading from there to this one. As it’s a serial each episode isn’t overly long and in total it’s more than worth doing. Wonderful fun (also an understatement).

And so a great series ends... what an ending :D
For a few moments here and there I was nearly despairing, I mean... men can be seriously annoying. Lera has been taking care of everything and everyone and all of a sudden she's kept out of the fight.. yeah I don't think so :)
The grand finale was worth it all, it came together very well, a fitting end.

I voluntarily read an advanced reader copy of this book and all in all I can say this is one of my favourite reverse harem series! Oh and maybe we could get a little novella set in the future? (pretty please?!)

One of the better of this series, everything for the most part comes full circle and all is well in the world....for now.
I wouldn't say this is an actual 4 star book, more of a 3.5 because I feel like the author used a lot of fillers, like a whole chapter on a sex scene was not necessary especially when it's basically the same sex scene that was at the end of the first series of the power of 5.
There was sort of a climax in the story but not really because there was never a battle, it's like she builds you up for this great scene and then all you get is a scooby snack - LOL!
Overall it was a good story but still left so many unanswered questions, like the big reveal of the previous book - her being pregnant has not come to fruition, what's going to happen next?? Will there be another set of series?
I think this whole episode thing could have actually just been one book, the episode line was totally unnecessary and drawn out but whatever floats your boat I guess.

WE MADE IT.

"Because in the fight for the mortal world, every life—and every heart—will lie on the line before the last bell sounds."

We finally got the quint back together and I'm so happy that we made it. The ending wasn't quite what I thought it was going to be... which I loved a little. But also, I missed it but the clue was small. It made so much sense once it all ended. I'm just happy that everyone it back together. That our girl Lera finally has her men back and they are about to take the world on.
So. Good. Also-- small part of me hopes there's something else that comes from this.... because it can't be the end. Right? RIGHT?

And just like that, it was done

I can’t believe GFA is over. I’ve love diving back into the Power of Five world and hope that there’s another to come later.. perhaps involving the twins? I’d just really love to see all of the males handling rambunctious kids. I can too easily imagine each of them handling different situations haha!!

Anyways, this was a perfect ending to another perfect series. Loved every minute of it.

Really enjoyed this series, and I like how the males have their back stories and own chapters from their pov's.

Lera is such a spitfire, which is definitely needed with these males 😆 she is relatable and makes mistakes but just doesn't give up, although the 'done' gets replaced with forgiveness a bit quickly I thought - although it is certainly different when there is love...

Anyhoo, really enjoyed this and looking forward to binging more of Alex's works 😁

I loved the entire series. The ending was a bit abrupt though. An extended epilogue would have been nice to see them juggling parenthood with the rest of their duties. And does anyone else wanna know what's going on with Rabbit?! Is he some kind of supernatural? He did see beyond the veil! He should probably get his own story.

Good wrap up if a bit of a weird place to cut off the ending.

Only gripes were I felt the threat was dealt with a bit too easily and couldn't understand Katita's u-turn after all that had happened in previous books.

Decent series but I probably wouldn't read it again.

What an epic conclusion to this story. It was a long and painful ride but I am so glad that I pushed through. I loved being able to be in the world with Lera and her mates again. This series was epic.

Finally had the time to write a review on this. The only complain that I have was the ending wasn't as detailed as the whole series were. It was very simple, seems rushed and i want more from them ugghh! But still, thank you for the series Alex! #goawaycovid19 #getwellsoonmum

The final book does not disappoint!

I've loved Alex's writing since I discovered it by chance and the quint was such a great story. Mixing fae with mortals, even better.

I'd highly recommend reading in order.

Loved it, Great ending! Loved this series, sad to see the end.
The amulets are broken. Lera's reunion with Shade is not what she expected. Shade feels overwhelming guilt for his failure in braking the the amulets spell, when his wolf could. Failure in protecting Lera and their cubs. That is all he wants to do now. Keep Lera in his sights. Keep Lera and the cubs safe. The risk to the mortal world no longer his concern.
Lera has no patience for Shades guilt and over protectiveness. She wants her mate, needs her mate, they have been apart to long. She is not going to abandon their mission.
Tye and Cole are a mix of disbelief, protectiveness and acceptance.
River, the Commander, is needed. Lera, needs River her mate. To protect her he has to humiliate her. The mortals are calling for her blood. Saving the Kingdoms is proving harder than anticipated. Lera proves to be the key to unite her quint with the mortal Royals and she find and unexpected ally in Katita. She puts her people in River's capable hands. Trusting in his skills as a Commander and King.
Lera has to put herself in harms way to save Arisha. Remembering Gavriel's warning she uses it to put a stop to Owalin.
Krum reveals the problems with the wards, and his hope to return humans to servitude to the Fae, using Owalin to get it. Arisha works out the rate of magic entering into the mortal world. Princess Kakita proposes a plan to deal with it. River readily forms an alliance. A new future for Great Falls Academy hammered out.
Fast paced, steamy, great ending to the series. Leaving an opening for possible future stories from Great Falls Academy.
I love this series and had already pre-ordered the book. I was fortunate to receive an advance copy and this in my honest review.
