Lily grew up in the wilds of snowy nowhere, spending much of her time talking to animals and making up stories. She has continued to do this in her adult life, and now writes both fiction and non-fiction books for children. Her titles include big books about dinosaurs, rhyming books about dinosaurs and stories about escapee hot dogs. Follow Lily on Instagram and Twitter @lilymurraybooks
My only criticism is that the writing left out some key points so if someone decided to read this and wasn’t familiar with the Disney film, details are missed out that mean some text doesn’t make a lot of sense. But overall I always love these editions!
I’ll forever love this film and the artwork and everything that went into creating it. Mary Costa was a perfect match to this story and it will always hold dear to me🤍
I've read, heard, watched this story gazillion times (and with various kind of stories too) but still love it. This book is so pretty. I love the illustrations 🤍 Definitely saving this book for my future kids 🥰
Very few stories can compare. And while the written portion sometimes lacked a scene or description, this book in itself is a delight to experience. Incredible art and pure magic all over.
However, I am shocked at how the creators didn’t integrate the „once upon a dream“ element. It has such a significant part and I‘m stunned that it wasn’t mentioned apart from one sentence hinting at it.
I don't know about you but I've always loved fairy tales, I find them fascinating to read on so many levels And like many of you, I grew up with Disney adaptations and Sleeping Beauty is the one that made the biggest impression on me as a child.
So when I saw that they had released a book about the story of this Disney classic (but I'm not going to lie, it was the cover that caught my eye), I couldn't help but buy it.
The book starts with a foreword by Mike Gabriel, animator, director and storyboard artist at Walt Disney Animation Studios.
Then we discover the novelisation of the classic that everyone knows now, along with sketches and images from the film. It's impressive to see the stages of production: going from black and white sketches and storyboards on paper to an animated film in colour. A lot of details were changed along the way but overall, everything in the film is very close to the original sketches.
Acabo de ler o filme da bela adormecida em livro! Adoro Disney, adoro a Aurora e a Maleficent, tinha que adorar este livro. Ver a Fauna, a Flora e a Merryweather! Que saudades!
Recomendo esta colecção para quem gosta de reviver estes clássicos da nossa infância (no meu caso).
Sleeping Beauty is my favorite Disney film ever. Has been since I was little. I know the lines and song by heart ( I started singing at 6yrs old, and was a self taught high soprano for a long time).
It also inspired me to become an artist. ( I have been for 15 yrs now). The art is utterly gorgeous in both book and movie. It the most detailed film I have seen in Disney. Considering this was released in the 1950s, it is incredibly detailed. It is also one of the most expensive films Disney created. Can you tell I am a huge Disney nerd? 🤣😅
I am so glad I found this. I plan on getting the others as well. I loved seeing the concept art, first sketch, background painting, etc. There really is so much work they put into these older Disney films. I do have Nightmare Before Christmas, now I gotta collect the rest.
I definitely recommend if you love Disney, and want to see parts of the process on how everything was created. ( I highly respect and love it as an artist).
The book is really beautiful, the illustrations are the compilation of a lot of legit versions of Sleeping Beauty that Disney intended and the compilation of some scenes from the animation movie. I read this because I'm just really bored right now and want to read something light. It helps me to refresh my memory of Sleeping Beauty because ngl I kind of forget the details. But one thing I doubt, please enlighten me, didn't Aurora sleep for 100 years?????
Sleeping Beauty has always been my most favourite Disney movie. This book combines the story with the beautiful art of the movie, and is a perfect collector's items for an adult fan like me, and a great visual aid to kids who want to read the story. And...I won't lie...I read all of Maleficent's parts exactly how they were spoken in the film. ;)
"Disney's Sleeping Beauty" taught you about kindness, bravery, and the magic of true love. Remember, good wins over evil, and being kind and brave can make a big difference.
Let's face challenges with courage and always choose to be kind, just like the heroes in your story.
4.5 I mean Disney and Sleeping Beauty what’s more to love. Beautiful artwork and story. Just felt slightly short to warrant a full 5 but I love this series and will definitely be checking out the rest.
If you are a fan of the classic art from the film, this is a must get. Lots of lovely illustrations and the story is very faithful to the film. Recommended.
202 Very nice for any Sleeping Beauty collector. Nice hard back book to own. This was a gift for myself as I am a Sleeping Beauty fan and was worth the purchase.
I love the cover and the book itself cause it is sooo pretty, but the whole story is somehow not that interesting, but it’s still good, and beautifully written ♡
