This boxset contains all of the books that make up the Chronicles of the Supernatural Part One and consists of Shadows of Doubt; Immersion and then Convergence. I am glad to see that there is another part to this series in Realm of Lost Souls: Chronicles of the Supernatural Part Two, which continues with some of the same characters. This boxset may start off seeming as if it is a set of short stories that have nothing to do with each other, but the further you get into it, the more you realise how each of the characters is interlinked and will need to come together to stop evil from tearing their world apart and to stop the apocalypse! Nothing major!

The storyline starts with eight year old Shaun, along with his father on a dig for a valuable artifact, that his father believes will help cure his mother. The archaeologists similarly aged daughter Rachel, had hidden in her father’s truck, to reach the dig. Both Shaun and Rachel went to follow his father, but lost sight of them. Waiting for all of the team’s return, only Shaun’s father reappears and sudden explosions follow. Shaun believes that Rachel was lost in the explosion as well as the rest of the team and that his father had done something really bad. He has dim memories of what happened after that, on the journey home to Australia, all still ending in the death of his mother. The anger he carries towards his father because of that, follows him into his late teens. His father is a brutal drunk and waster, leaving Shaun to have pretty much raised himself, but mixing with a bad crowd.

Casey is a teen who loses his mother in tragic circumstances, in one of the more frequently occurring extreme weather catastrophes. He was almost drowned in a creek, yet ends up on a road and found by a man called Terry, ending up being adopted by him and his wife Amy. Another character, Kevin, saw this boy in the creek and tried telling others, just to be named as a freak and telling tales. Kevin’s best bud is Tim and the two of them actually live close to Shaun’s house, but avoid him where possible as he is a mean bully. One of the most spiritual characters is a girl called Sophia, who has been raised in a nunnery from an early age, after her parents and sisters were killed. She is closely looked after by Sister Catherine and Father McDonald, who know there is something special about her and that she is going to have an important role to play in the near future. A plague has hit all parts of the world and is getting closer and closer to all the seven teens in the storyline. Another is Jade, who lies on the coast of America, having lost her mother and who is kidnapped by the same people.

There are lots of links between all of the characters and even their parents and friends. Each will be explained and expanded upon as the story progresses and is great to show how complex this story really is. The plague is driving people mad and pure evil, leaving them to attack others or go on mad rampages to kill as many people as possible. The Emerald Tablet is an essential link to stopping the evil overtaking good and the world as they know it falling to hell and beyond. It must be restored to its original location, deep underground and only these teens are capable of doing so. Each teen has a special part to play in this and must put aside any negativity and only allow the goodness to reside in their thoughts and minds, no matter what is happening around them. Some of them have visions of the future, whilst another can manifest an immense power to allow them to travel to another dimension, but not one they can stay in. It allows them to travel huge distances, where time runs at a different pace than in reality.

A complex tale of interlinked characters, an evil plague released on the world by a desperate husband, visions and powers to contend with, as well as untold evil to be battled if mankind itself is going to be able to survive. Sacrifices will have to made by some and others will have to turn their very lives around, to become the person needed in this apocalyptic experience. I thought this might be the end, but I am glad to find there is more to come in another set of chronicles. I for one, can’t wait to read some more about these characters. They had a lot to contend with and had to reach deep within themselves to battle the faces of evil all around them. There are huge mystical aspects to this storyline and each is a necessary part of the tale being told. Make sure you read past the first few separate characters stories, to allow you to get into the complete story which exposes how important each of those brief views become in the whole. A great set of books and a complex but intriguing read. I loved it! I received an ARC copy of this series from BookSprout and I have freely given my own opinion of the books above.

At first I had a lot of trouble keeping all the different characters and their points of view straight. It seemed very random and like the stories would never connect together.

Boy was I wrong. A little over halfway through the book I didn't want to set it back down until I was done. The author's ability to tie in their story so deeply to many different religions, as well as create such deep and varied characters is astounding.

There were a few places where either I had confused the names of people or the wrong person was speaking, and the Australian terms while writing about American characters threw me off for a minute, but altogether a very enjoyable story even though it is fairly heavy and very dark.

The Emerald Tablet by JM Hart is a wonderful read. At first I was unsure of what to make of it. I rarely read books set in a modern or real world, but figured, hey why the heck not? What do I lose? I enjoy a pleasant read. I stepped in to it expecting some kind of cliche super natural fantasy. What I got was an epic story of good vs evil spanning a decade! There is something homey about the tale, perhaps it reminds me of old movies of kids fighting back against the forces of evil, but once I got in to the story, I could not pull myself away.

The characters are entertaining and believable, as a person who was once a nerdy outcast I could relate to them. The story does a good job of bouncing between characters and slowing building up to the meeting, and once that happens, the characters build well off of one another.

This is a tale of a battle between good and evil, resting on the shoulders of young people with extraordinary gifts. Sure, it sounds like every cheesy super hero movie you’ve seen, but it’s so much better!

What an amazing start to a new series. This was the first book that I’ve read by this author and I can’t wait for more. Character development and world building were amazing. Such a unique take on an apocalyptic, supernatural, biblical story bringing kids together with abilities to fight that good vs evil world.

Starting out this book was slow paced and at times I felt a little lost. Fast forward to these teens meeting and boy does it take off onto a journey you weren’t expecting. I love them all and their abilities only add to their personalities. Such a great first book to a new series.

Please give this one a chance. Once you’re sucked in you will flip those pages so fast. I can’t wait to see what happens next!

If anyone is looking for a great book to read, I can highly recommend this. Angels, demons, faith, a world gone crazy, supernatural magic, portals. You name it, this book has it. Totally gripping from the very start. It’s like being on an out of control train, you just have to hang on for the ride of your life. A group of young people drawn together in ways they could never have imagined, trying to stop the end of life as they know it. The action never lets up, and it seems like there is never a lull where you can try to catch your breath. I haven’t been able to put it down, only stopping because I could no longer keep my eyes open without possibly surgical intervention or toothpicks 😂. Over 600 pages of a great read. I know when I’m done I will have to get book 2 😁

I was so confused by this book. The first third had characters and chapters that weren't connected in any way I could see. Even after the characters started interacting with each other I was still confused by the plot. It didn't make sense. I would describe what I was reading to others, and they would laugh with me because it seemed so far fetched. Wasn't a bad read, but not one I would go back to

At the beginning of this book I was really confused about what was going on. After a little while it all came together great. Characters are written really well. Over all I thought it was a good story. Only gave 4 stars because of the constant jumping around of characters.

Finished The Emerald Tablet (Book 1) yesterday. I really enjoyed it and connected with the characters. The book did seem a bit disjointed at first but as each character developed and interacted with each other you get sucked into the the story. A nice good versus evil story involving young teenagers and their developing powers trying to save mankind. Would definitely read book 2

This series is so very different from anything I have read before. You get adventure, paranormal, coming of age, apocalypse. I struggled in the beginning with all the characters being introduced. I wasn't sure how they were going to all tie together. Once the author started bringing them together the story took off. I'm excited to jump into the next book.

Blockbuster movie quality

Think Stephen King writes an episode of the Twilight Zone. An epic story of love, pain and what can happen if the world starts heading towards Hell in a hand basket.

Wonderful Story

Not at all what I was expecting. I was thinking I was about to plunge into a big fat witchy B.o.S. instead what I found was a pleasantly surprising story book. I will have to look into the other books and give them a read.

I really enjoyed this book. It was great to follow the kids through the storylines as they joined. I did find it a little hard to follow at times and had to backtrack to reread details.
