These characters have completely stolen my heart and I’m not one bit sorry about it.
This book is very much a bridge book to the final confrontation and despite how long it took me to read it (out of state family visits are fun but not helpful for reading great books quickly, haha) I loved every second and watching these characters grow and change yet still at their core be very much the same just better, if that makes any sense, was just wonderful to witness. Also the romantic development between Alyra and Tarek is chief’s kiss—the best and most squeal worthy part of the whole book because, gosh, I love these two broken beans SO MUCH!!! And without spoiling anything I’m so happy that Tarek and Stitch resolved things between them.
I cannot stress enough how much this story is touching and helping me in my life right now; everything here seems to be reflecting something major in my life and helping me to trust and love God even more. Alyra and Tarek especially I feel and see so much of me in their struggles and personalities, and the way Issah loves them and never gives up on them shows me of just how much Jesus loves me even when no one else does and that gives me hope and courage.
I love this series and wish more people knew about it!
