Alien Abduction #9
Mate Abduction
Sometimes love comes with a tail.
Clarabelle might have been kidnapped from Earth years ago but she never forgot her roots. Her restlessness leads to her embarking on a quest to find a human colony.
Instead, she encounters an alien dude, Thyos, who insists she’s his mate.
Ha. As if she’s going to settle down.
Clarabelle isn’t about to take orders from anyone. Not even the alien hottie who has a disturbing tendency of shifting into a giant lizardman. Her idea of a happily ever after doesn’t include a tail or glowing yellow eyes.
What will it take for her to accept his love and become his fated mate?
PS: This book finally shows us what happened to orphan Clarabelle, whom you originally met in Dual Abduction.
Note: ***Available from March 10 to April 10, 2020 in a supersized anthology called Loved in Space***
Single book release on April 11, 2020!

Mate Abduction by Eve Langlais
Alien Abduction Series book 9. Can be read as a stand-alone science fiction short romance.
Previously published in a short term anthology called Loved in Space.
Clarabelle, one of the orphans from Earth in a prior book, is now an adult and on a quest to find more humans in the galaxy and hopefully a boyfriend.
Amusing and a fast read. Overlapping races and a few characters if you’ve read previous books. Lighthearted escapism with medium heat / sex scenes.
I love this author’s humor, so it was fun to read another book in the series.
Excerpt
“Fancy words don’t make it science.”
“Actually, they do, because we have the studies to prove the existence of a sykyrah bond [mating bond]. Do you think you’re the first skeptic?” There was a time when his people used to fight the sykyrah, wondering why they had to obey, especially when the bond struck between a pair belonging to warring tribes.
“Are you trying to tell me that people have managed to dissect these so-called matings? How?” she snorted. “Did they send out a survey and say hey, are you happy in your arranged marriage?”
“No need to have couples submit anything given a sykyrah bond is very noticeable, not to mention measurable on a few scales.”
“And because of some tests you’re going to claim instant love between people who never met before?” she challenged.
“That’s how it happens most often. The turning of a corner, the sudden meeting of eyes.” “Then what? Lightning bolt?”
“It’s a jolt of something. It’s hard to explain.” He shrugged.
“But you felt it? With me?” she specified, making it obvious she hadn’t experienced the same. “We wouldn’t be talking otherwise.”
“It’s one-sided only,” she stressed. “I don’t feel a thing.”
“You will,” he said with assurance.
Her lips flattened. “These sudden bonds, how many of them are successful long term? Do you have a lot of divorce?”
The definition was a foreign concept. “There is no dissolution of a sykyrah bond, ever.”
“What if the hubby turns out to be an abusive drunk? Or the wife cheats?”
“A mated pair would never harm each other.”
“If that’s true, then why do I want to slit your throat?”
“Want and do are two mightily different things.” He didn’t worry given she’d sheathed her knives. “I’m sure in time I’ll make you content enough you’ll just want to strangle me.”

There comes a point where one starts to get the idea the author sees one as a wallet rather than a reader. :/ It's hard to reconcile this half-assed installment of an older series with a complete, fairly involved new series written in the last year. 153 pages and half of it was setting up the H/h and their conflict. As I half suspected, the rest of the book was mostly telling of days of adventure and sex, with an occasional showing of some random interlude (like the conflict - his not being human - smacking the h in the face via an animal attack and his shifting into a lizard).
That the past several books in this series and another older series have been a lot like this makes me wonder why I keep buying her books. And maybe next one I should wait a while and look for some real reviews as opposed to fangirls.

Fun, fast read. A bad ass heroine and an awesome hero.
What more could a girl want? Oh, the adorable space puppy? Sign me on :)))

Read in LOVED IN SPACE
Sadly disappointed.
Sorry to say I didn’t like Belle. Way too childish and mean.
This is about the group of schoolgirls first meet in book 3, DUAL ABDUCTION.
One of the earth orphan girls gets her HEA but does it with bad grace all the way.
Really liked Thyos and his belief in being accepted for himself.
Clarabelle I just grew to dislike.
The more I read, the less I liked her racist, purist, alienist views.
Not sure why there was no comeback on Ishtar or Thyos’ sister for taking Belle away.
Enjoyed the bumping into some of our previous characters.

While I like the hero of this book better than many of the previous heroes, and I also liked the heroine Belle quite a bit who is one of the orphans from dual abduction I felt like the plot of this book was like super paper thin and every conflict was dealt with way too easily. The consent was great all my gosh the consent was so good in this. And I thought that the hero and the heroine are really cute together and I also adore and Ralph. This book was just missing too much it was even shorter than the previous books it needed at least 50 more pages to flesh things out and allow for some tension. As it was, I’m glad I read this as a library book. I also didn’t like that the author seemed to forget what had happened in her previous books. The number of orphans changed from 11 to 8. And some of the other events that were into that she gave the wrong books Where are the events took place. The author into needs to keep track better or pay their evermore to keep track for them. As it was it’s egregious and it loses a star in addition to losing a star for the lack of conflict and not great ending.

Overcoming misconceptions
This is one of those books that you find the best HEA once you make it past the beginning. With the confrontational attitude Belle wore like armor and the family who were less than supportive, I wasn’t sure the author and the Gods were going to lead these two characters to a HEA. But there was also more than a little bit of humor and sass and this fantastic guy that put up with everything to find the real Belle. The author did not disappoint either, she helped these two navigate all the interfaces and find the relationship they were both looking for making for a story book ending. I can’t wait to read the next book from this author, I’m sure it is going to be just as good.

I love Eve's Alien Abduction books. You fall straight into the alien setting the moment you start reading. In this one, Clarabelle wants some fun, but doesn't think she's going to find what she's looking for in an alien man who has a tail and insists she's his mate! The scenes between Thyos' mother and Clarabelle had me ROFLing. I just love a strong, sassy heroine who isn't what she appears to be!

I was reluctant to start this book. But to my surprise, I loved it. Interesting world Eve built. Loved Clarabelle. Tough as nails. Thyos is a sweetheart. It’s a cute love story. They both needed to get past their prejudices to find true love. I really enjoyed all the characters. Definitely felt good after reading it and was disappointed it was over. There were a couple of holes in the story, but it didn’t take away from my enjoyment. Highly recommend.

The story started out slow but eventually picked up. Thyos is an unmated clan leader. His family keeps on him about finding his mate. Clarabelle is a strong human female warrior who has been searching for a human settlement. When she meets Thyos, he knows Clarabelle is his fated mate but she has a strong aversion to alien males with tails. So they make a deal where they have to spend time together but Clarabelle can leave at the end if she wants. They come to love each other and become mates.

Another migraine recovery read, this one is so very Eve: the brattiest heroine (who, to be fair, was abducted, told she can’t go back to earth, and raised in an Amazon-like warrior society ever since, so it’s not like she doesn’t have reasons to want to find other humans). Sexy, snarky, and full of little laughs among the danger on the way to the HEA.

Loved him and Ralph! But Belle was too much a brat🤦♀️ i can see why his sister wantwd to kill her, lol. The cliffhanger ending was a little confusing, too.🤷♀️

Mate abduction
I really liked the Zonians for their Amazonian ways and how they took care of the human women. Clarabelle meets Thyos and he tricks her into an eight day courtship.

2021 READ: 4 STARS!
This is the first book I read from the series. And I just found out this is book 9. I actually enjoyed the reading it though I felt there were times that it was more of telling than showing especially on the later chapters. I wasn't annoyed with the FL, although she was stubborn. ML was also lovable in his own ways.
I think I'm willing to invest my time reading the series from the first book. ☺️
My review is not for intelligent discussion. It's what I felt/thought while reading the book. For 2021, I would rate the book this way:
1 - DNF'ed
2 - does not exist
3 - did not like
4 - it was okay
5 - I like it / I enjoy reading it (but it doesn't mean I recommend it)

I enjoyed reading this story since it was hinted to in one of the author's previous books. Clarabelle was an interesting female to fellow. Thyos was very patient. I loved their story.
