Aided by an abundance of Sci-Fi characters with supernatural powers, Bestselling Sci-Fi author Christian Kallias has a secret. He lives two lives. One in the real world and one inside his own creations, in worlds where he can lay down the foundation of his universes for both his and your enjoyment. Guess which one he prefers?
Christian Kallias is the bestselling author of the award-winning Universe in Flames Space Opera series.
I didn't have high expectations for this set. Teenage boy meets alien threat and saves the world is a plot basic that is very very hard to do well for adults to enjoy. The first story was fair, the second much worse, and I stopped after that.
A little more YA than I expected but entertaining regardless.
Enjoyed it as a quick and entertaining read. Characters were either very likeable or totally horrible. Some laughable situations. YA readers should get a kick out of the novels.
I enjoyed the book I like books that have a fun character the inclusion of the different alien species the sheer fact that the poor guy couldn't get a kiss for nothing until I liked it where the hero Will survive I don't know a great book series
Mr. Kallias has done it again - The Far Beyond series draws you into the non-stop action that is this author's style. The characters are wild, cute and lovable and the villains are evil -- bad evil. A true flashback to the action filled Space Opera days.
This is a great, easy to read story to entice teens and young at heart to read more, especially those that like virtual reality video games, they may actually be training for their future. Take Mission Impossible, The Last Starfighter and Matrix, stir together and you have the basic premise of this story, but with an unexpected ending.
Nothing like practically stumbling over a dying alien, then BAM! You're in a spaceship and in an intergalactic war -- who even knew there was life in the stars, much less a war? Kevin finds that his virtual reality skills and unorthodox thinking may be what is needed to help rescue the kidnapped Princess, save the galaxy and save earth.
Mix together 1 teenager, 1 beagle, AIs, felines (tiny, small and big) spiders, a self-serving, murdering thief and a traitoress princess -- What could possibly go wrong? Umm? Get reading, you'll find out.
Five-stars for this great, easy to read story that can entice teens and young at heart to read more, especially those that like virtual reality video games -- they may actually be training for their future
I suggest starting with Across the Galactic Pond. This prequel gives background to how this adventure first started and is referenced frequently. I did receive an Advance Copy from the author and gladly leave my voluntary review.
I hate trying to write reviews because there are really only pass/fail results for me. Did I make it all the way through? Yes? 5 stars. No? There would be nothing here to read. In all fairness, if an author holds my attention from page one to the end, they’ve done their job. Anything less than 5 stars is petty criticism from someone incapable of even doing the job let alone doing a better one.
So in respect for the author and their work, I am going to start pasting this along with a generic review I found somewhere. “This was a fun book. I am glad that I read it. You should try it too.”
I read each of these books individually and really enjoyed the series. Christian manages to balance action with humour and through it all keeps you interested. A space ship crashes on Earth and Kevin goes to investigate. There then follows a series of enjoyable and funny romps through the universe helping the good guys and defeating the bad ones. (in simple terms).
Kevin is not Luke Skywalker but he invokes similar vibes. Yet he’s an original guy in his own right. I love his friends and the scenarios he has to go through. This space opera is great stuff and came just when I needed a pick me up. There’s things to learn about honor and loving sacrifice too. Don’t miss this book series. It’s whole is greater than the sum of it’s parts!
I chose this series because it was a good deal at the time. It turned out to be surprisingly good with endearing characters, nasty villains, cool tech, talking cats and plenty of space battles. Leg'olas is my favourite character - you'll understand once you get there! Well worth a look ...
This was a fun fast read for me. I enjoyed it a lot. The author made some very unique decisions on how his character’s evolved. This book for me was like a good summer blockbuster action movie. The plot moves right along at a good pace, and always made me wonder what way the story would go. If you are looking for a good story with an interesting spin on SyFy. This is it.
I fell in love with this series it was fun. The characters were absolutely wonderful they will make you laugh and cry . I would like to see more of these characters. I highly recommend this series and it one that enjoys good space opera.
The characters each play their part and have their own stories. Although it is a great story I didn't find myself being carried along as with other stories of the same type
I really like the series, a little bit of a wild ride at times, yet very interesting. I will get the next set of books with these characters if I see it. In the meantime I will read more books by this Author
When I start this series I felt it was written for a younger audience, after finishing all of them I think there is more here than I first believed. Read if you like science fiction that ends well, and it holds your attention.
This book was amazing from page one to the final page I loved it, if you are looking for a fun exciting read about space fighting and talking animals this is the series for you! Can’t recommend it enough it was simply amazing.
Entertaining read with hints of Alice in Wonderland
I did really enjoy this book and had a hard time putting it down. Fast paced and fun to read. It's targeted towards the younger reader, but is still a very entertaining read. I would recommend it to all sci-first readers.
Entertaining books about a teenager and his dog and how they save the galaxy. Usual comments about the impact of war on the combatants. It is a humorous SciFi fantasy that will keep you laughing.
