Rate this book
Check out the newest, grittiest, science fiction epic from author T S Paul.

Casey Lewis led the best Special Operations unit in all of the Confederation until it betrayed her. Taking revenge, she expected to die in a blaze of glory and gunfire but that was not to be. Now she's Chef of the Navy and it's her job to teach, tutor, and investigate each and every kitchen in the fleet. On her own terms. When she accidentally uncovers a plot against not only the battleship she's on but the Confederation as a whole, all hell breaks loose. Bad Casey is back and she's not fooling around this time!

***This book contains bad language, sexual situations, violence, more violence, and a whole lot of innuendo. No actual Chefs were harmed in the making of this book.

DNF- 75% gritty and torture are two different things

This book doesn’t have a good backstory for the heroine and I could never figure her out.

The basic idea is very good, but needs a lot of work and revisions. I really like space opera and the summary sounded like something I would like.

1. Flashbacks and character backstory was confusing - so I never really connected with the character
2. World building was non-existent- I felt that this was the second book in a series. Villains and characters are not fleshed out.

Graphic warning: a bit much and if it was just this one item I would’ve finished the book but this ended the book for me.

3. She cuts a mans balls off and feeds them to him and laughs about it.

This wasn’t a bad book but it could have been so much better. The basic story was a bit like the Steven Segal movie Under Siege , with an ex-special forces chef trying to foil the take over of a warship.
The book starts with a confusing opening chapter, which I presume was meant to supply some of Casey’s back-story. The author then uses nightmares and daydreams to try to add more detail, unfortunately after getting me interested he never bothered to complete this story.
Annoyingly the book ends with a bit of a cliff-hanger, which is part of the reason I have only given two stars.

Interesting

This was an interesting book. Think Under Seige with Steven Segal in space. She's just the cook! I laughed at that line. There are quite a few editing issues that made it a bit difficult to read, but overall it was good. I would read the next one.

An enjoyable read.. well worth a try.

I picked this up on a recommendation (plus I liked the cover) and have not been disappointed. I’ll be keeping an eye out for the next in the series, I’m curious what happens next.

Good story!

Sorta good words in a row. Premise is unbelievable, a fairy tale, but you did hang the words ok. One

3.75 space male adventure except the main character is female

Mostly I liked this book with its female lead with almost soldier super powers and fierce cooking skills. Based on the author’s afterword, he was going for a traditional male adventure. You know the type- starring a character who kicks butt, looks good, and thinks and does a lot sexual activities when the story allows.

Here obviously, Paul flipped that by making the main character female. She is very much in that same shallow mold. In fact, she is even more of a male fantasy than usual, because likes sexual partners of both sexes, but of course she can only get her real freak on with male parts. I think Paul missed out on a great opportunity to write something a bit better.

Want to read a series that does this better, I recommend the Max Mars books.

Nice action adventure

It's a funny, action packed story that's a little bit "Under Siege" and a lot of attitude. The universe has a large number of alien races and they promise to figure prominently in the series. For now they are more background elements, though important ones.

The MC is the Chef of the Fleet, which is the best military title that I've ever read. The fleet structure is obviously a little different from the usual and was definitely interesting. Back to the main character, she's a hoot. There's nothing not to like about her and when she has a grudge she knows how to deliver payback. She's got a pretty good backstory for a start. I'd like to see more of it but she starts out with a little depth.

It's fun, intense and bloody. I'm looking forward to the next book.

Wow!

Holy crap what a fun book! The main character is a kickass, fun loving, spec ops woman who is a master chef in space! She's raunchy, brutal, and funny. I haven't enjoyed a character like Casey Lewis in many a moon. I'm so looking forward to the next book.
